Thanks to those who greeted me a happy birthday.

Just came back from the Big B. I ended up driving anyway, because I missed the 6:51 departure at my local station in New Jersey. But, short and sweet...
Bought-in for $300
Left 1-2 NLHE +$200
Later left 2-5 NLHE -$500
Later left $5 blackjack +$300

Only net-gain: $8 poker comps + any blackjack comps earned later!

Also, Stan, how many were entries in the $1500+150 deepstack today? I saw only a handful in the back corner around 11ish initially.

hi, 1st post. this is what happened to me at borgata.

2-5 nl hold em. i have about 700 in front of me. jq suited. call 25 raise, the guy to my left makes it 75 and original raiser calls. im thinking, almost defenitely calling. and i mumble in the tiniest words something to the degree of "hmmm i can call............... i can raise." really quietly. did not think anyone even heard me. after i put in 2 more green chips guy to my left starts saying i said raise. i told him i may have mumbled the words "i could raise" amongst other things. dealer says he heard me say raise (isnt he supposed to announce it if it is a raise??) floor comes over and based on dealer supposedly hearing me say raise, forces me to raise. i min raise obviously, guy who forced me to raise gos all in with aces, other guy called and lost the pot. i folded and it only ended up costing me 50 bucks extra but i felt extremely cheated. gut up and walked away for a few hours.

does everyone agree that it was a low blow by the guy to my lefft? i never have a problem with anyone at the table. but i feel taken advantage of. i had 0 intent to raise and he had to know this. if not, he would have waited for me to raise rather then amking a big fuss.

im mad at dealer cause i dont know what he heard and have a hard time believing all he heard was me say raise. that guy will never get another penny from me again. hope he deals me the bad beat 1 day.

im mad at myself cause i should have been more careful.

stan or someone else- was proper procedure taken here? ty

First of all, you have to be very carefull with your words and gesters at the poker table. If the player and the dealer thought they heard you say raise, yes, it will be considered a raise. However, I wasn't there to ask questions at the table to have all of the facts on what was heard. We have also had people who intended to bet but they were not thinking and tapping their fingers on the table as the action came around to them.

Stan
thanks for the qucik response

if the dealer thought i said raise, shouldn't he announce it?was he not doing his job properly?

if the player to my left actually thought i was raising, why didnt he wait for me to raise as opposed to telling me i need to raise? people say raise, put in chips, and then think about an amount to put in.

the guy is a regular who did this and the more i think about it, the more i feel it was a sleezy move. he kept saying- "im just protecting my hand". grrrrrrrrrrrr

ps- stan- what do you look like? im sure i have seen you.

It sounds like the Borgata regular took advantage of the situation, and the dealer, knowing the reg and expecting a good tip from the reg, may have jumped on his side of the conversation with the floor to ensure the tip.

I agree with Stan that talking out loud about your options is a bad idea. I don't understand why some people do this.
