As we continue to enact measures to protect your health and safety, we are also working on making your customer experience better than ever. Borgata is going to be fully integrated as an MGM Resorts International property which will allow for:
• Earning Tier Credits for non-gaming spend (dining, hotel and more)
• A better experience with M life Rewards cards working at all MGM Resorts properties*
• TheBorgata.com to have a fresh, new look with easier navigation
• Express Comps™ balances to be simplified (MGM & Borgata Express Comps are now combined)
To implement these exciting changes, and prepare us for new promotions and events, we will pause promotional offers from April 17–30, 2021. There will be limited disruption on the casino floor during this time.

I played at Borgata this week for the first time in a year. When I log on to my account I can see that my express comps are going up but my Tier Credits are not. Was there always a lag in updating Tier Credits from poker play ? As far as I know poker still earns Tier Credits.

Yes, TCs have always lagged.

When life hopefully goes back to normal soon and assuming Borgata will remove the plexiglass which is a hindrance to the social aspects of the game, does everyone here prefer they keep the 7 handed format or go back to 9-10 handed? I personally prefer going back to 9-10 handed as it allows more players to play at the table and when several players take a break at the table, it isn’t a threat for the game to shut down because most of these players hate short handed poker.

**** the walkers. Don’t reward them for being a drain on the ecosystem. Just have a liberal pick up policy, dinner list and 3rd man walking rule. After they get picked up a few times, they’ll either stop playing (no big loss to lose a person from the player pool who looks at cards like 2x/hr), or they’ll stay at the table more.

10 handed is the worst. Tables are not big enough for 10 average sized poker players, which on average tend to not be small in frame. Game is also way too slow. Idk what the difference is in avg hands/hr seen from 10 handed to 9 handed, but it’s obv going to be lower. Hopefully Borg realizes they’re seeing more hands/hr and dropping more money on the non timed games

If they keep the rake as is, they better lower it to 9 handed. It’s physically painful to squish 10 American sized people in on that tiny table.

10 handed is awful especially for games like 20/40 where there are a lot of chips. Needs to be 9 handed at most, or 8.

Not like they'd actually consider keeping 7 handed once the glass is gone. Let's just hope they do 9 handed

As an 280 pound man (260 during non-holiday months and outside of football season), I pray we never go back to 9 handed.

I was just saying to a friend of mine at parx I would sign up for masks and plexiglass forever if it meant 7 handed forever

At borgata which is almost always a **** show they take way too long to fill seats and people start wandering around , breaking games etc

Considering how slow they filling seats and how often people walk i would say that 8 handed games would be close to perfect.

Just copied this from the Borgata website. This sucks.

What changes can I expect to poker gaming in the Borgata Poker Room?
The process of receiving Express CompsTM for poker play, will be changing temporarily. Express Comps™ earned by playing poker in the Borgata Poker Room will not be automatically loaded to your M life Rewards card. Starting April 28, 2021, to have your earned poker Express CompsTM added to your account, please visit the shift manager podium in the poker room after your final session.

Questions:

Will someone be assigned to handle this in the poker room or will we have to wait until someone "isn't busy" ?
Will you have to do this daily, or every time your clocked out ?
Will you be able to let your Express Comps accumulate and do this once a week ?

I’m getting the feeling merging with the MGM systems is going to be a major inflection point for the worse when it comes to poker comps at Borgata. And they’re going to scapegoat COVID for what is a longer term tightening.

When I have done this in Bellagio years ago, you can do it when you want to use the comps, you don't have to do it every session, but I don't know Borgata will do. Since it is the same system as Bellagio I assume, it probably will be similar? The shift manager podium I assume is the podium on the right when you walk straight in to the end of the room but don't make any turns where they used to call the main floor games from pre-COVID. Another thing to wait in line for...

I'm picturing myself walking up to the podium with my card in hand asking the brush to "please load my comps" and her not even knowing what I'm talking about.

at mgm-nh, poker comps are separate from regular mgm comps (from slots/table games).

a supervisor moves $ from their poker system into a separate poker category in the regular mgm system.
at the food court, i have to tell the cashier to use poker comps and not regular mgm comps to pay.

once you move $ from the poker system to the regular mgm system, it's only valid for 24hrs then you lose it if not used.
so i only move enough to pay for the meal.

the only way to know how much poker comps you have is to ask a supervisor to check.
there's no way to check it yourself.

Hopefully, Borgata isnt switching to this archaic system!

All I know is that this will be worse than the current simple system. Especially since relying on a supervisor or brush to do anything will only bring frustration.

If they think they can get away with that here, they're gonna lose players to surrounding rooms like Parx. MGMNH has no real competition like Borgata has (except for MDL 45min away but they don't comp my rooms either like borgata does).

IMO, the reason most players drive the extra distance is for the rooms and not for the way they kick players out of the poker room who are waiting for games like they're homeless people loitering (esp around the cage/podium area). Plus they don't even allow call-ins so at a time they lost almost a year's worth of revenue they should be looking to retain players not lose them but if MGM thinks they can treat us the same way as MD players they're gonna soon be wondering why business is so slow.

exactly - it's amazing bellagio and aria still have this trash comp system. i still remember johnny grooms telling me this way was better so the poker staff gets a chance to provide good customer service in the mgm national harbor thread.

I agree the system of having it automatically loaded on your card is far superior though I have gotten used to it at MGM and usually it’s pretty fast. One interesting word in that note is temporarily...I wonder if they are finally moving to integrate poker comps with the rest of the comp system at MGM casinos as has been hinted about for a long time we will see.

That’s because you are supposed to see a shift manager, at the back of the room.

i doubt it. it's far more likely we just get stuck with the trash poker comp system from other mgm properties.
