1. Comp rooms. I know there are a certain amount of these, but what is your experience on the best time to get them? Before 12noon? Also, I plan on booking for 3-4 nights in advance, does anyone have experience booking in advance, and then getting a comp room voucher?

2. Meal voucher. Is this good at Harry's Oyster Bar, or just the Bally's owned placed? Johnny Rockets?
  1. Comped room is "based on availability". Other posters in this forum have reported this to be a bait and switch - I have no personal experience, good or bad.
  2. It used to be the buffet only. $15 food voucher sounds like it is good for any of their restaurants.

Rotation? (i.e. - Harrah's AC one year, Harrah's Philly the next, Bally's WWW the next)

1. Yes, I am aware of bait and switch, that is why I am booking in advance at $40/night. I asked for experience with time of day to ask for the room.

2. Harry's Oyster Bar is not a "Bally's" restaurant in that to use TR points it is 2-1, where as at a place like Guy Fieri's or Buca di Beppo, it is 1-1.

Anyone hear rumor that Bally's poker room to close next month and that a poker room will re-open at Caesar's at some point after that ?

I think it's a wasted effort at this point but they should have done this from the beginning. The "wild Wild West" location is idiotic.

The 3pm tourneys only run on the weekends (Fri., Sat. & Sun.). The 11am tourneys are history. The 7pm is the only one that runs every day.

Go here for the schedule: https://www.caesars.com/ballys-ac/ca...s#.Vdp-L0vGRFQ

The rumor I heard was that all CET poker in AC would wind up at Harrah's but I stress that's just a rumor.

Good riddance. Ballys is such a hole.

Can't believe that there would be no poker on the Boardwalk. Where will Ivy sleep now? Sorry I am not counting the Tropicana (should I?).

Seriously, the current space is not managed correctly. It is too far away from the rest of the casino. There are several tables in the walkway, when there is enough space in the actual room itself. I just do not understand. The place needs to be decorated with "feng shui" in mind.

Yea I was there this Mon and tues and its a ghost town even in the summer...Ballys room is entirely too big...never had more then 7 tables going....never had enough dealers...never saw a drink lady...I walked down to Trop to see how they were doing...casino was packed ...poker room had maybe 15 people in it..no board to tell you what games are running...total shame..I have always been a big fan of Atlantic city due to my childhood...but man if you cant find a game in the summer at a boardwalk casino then there really is no reason for me to go there anymore...they better do something because they say the next casino victim to close will be the Taj or Ballys...

Good riddance to Bally's if it does go I'd say.

Hopefully someday CET will realize that their strategy of keeping **** hole casinos open with ****ty games and comps is no longer a viable way to get business in crowded gambling markets. Until then I say demo the rat traps and put something more appealing in their place.

As far as the rest of the boardwalk, I think the Tropicana is reasonable but wouldn't mind seeing the rest of the casinos there nuked or seriously refurbished.

Personally I love AC and it sucks to see it get worse and worse every year. I would welcome any change/cleaning up of the boardwalk.

no more than 7 tables? i was there sun-tues. tuesday they had at least 12 tables going at all times from what I recall, including a 2/5 game, and probably 55 runners in the 7PM tourney. i also saw plenty of drink ladies. not sure how we could have had completely different experiences at the same time.

Seems like it was quad 6's for two weeks ... they finally updated bravo and it says quad 5's now. Thought the qualifying hand went down every Wednesday. Is this no longer the case? Is it every 2 weeks or something now? Does anyone know?

Lol Deadcatch!

I was there on Tuesday and can echo exactly what iamcaveman said.

It was kind of slow in the early afternoon but things REALLY picked up in the evening. Was at a 1-2 table that was ACTION. PACKED. (was thinking of moving the 2-5 game when they called it but there was literally no need).

Oh, and I had 2 separate cocktail waitresses (one in the early afternoon and one later that night) and they were super nice and attentive.

I am by no means trying to "stick up for this place", as it's the first time I've played there in over a year. I hear quite a bit about how dead things have been there. I just hate when ppl make up things to further their own agenda.

I have to be honest, I am dying to go back, although I may have just gotten lucky with how good the action was on Tuesday.

I go every year. I was just there this past week. There were plenty of games at night going. I assume it was busier then usual due to the bad beat jackpot being almost 400k. I also heard that they were gonna move the room to caesars. I would be a shame if there someday there was no poker on the boardwalk. We did not go to the trop at all. Played a harrahs and ballys. Thy had about the same amount of tables going each night. I love goin there and been doin it for about 12 years now. I hope they turn the empty casinos into something to attract more players to the area. They are in need of more rec players. I got lukcy to have 2 seperate days when some wild players showed up and really got the action going. Sometime when the bad beat is high people don't want to play poker and they want to keep things small to try to see all 5 cards and the action can be dead. But I love going there.

agree man. my table was crazy but there was one guy who was i don't think really understood english and was definitely drunk and was raising pre with any 2 cards..literally just grabbing a stack of chips and raising to 50 or whatever it came out to. That's obviously an anomaly but other than that, there was actually pretty good action, definitely better than what i expected. i will say the drinks were slow at times especially during shift changes but that tends to happen no in the smaller rooms.

oh, and one other thing: props to the floor people running this room. from what i saw they don't take any crap from the players and enforce the rules...in many rooms it's one set of rules for the "regulars" and if they don't know your face it's another set of rules...was happy to see that everyone seemed to play by the same set of standards here.

If that rumor is true, will Caesars go back to have 2 separate poker rooms on the boardwalk? Remember that Caesars did have a poker room on the boardwalk floor of the casino and Bally's had their room on the 6th floor that was in the former racebook. Maybe the current room's location isn't catching the traffic that they hope. Why go back to something that didn't work anyway?

The rumor is ballys will close and combine with ceasers. Not just the poker room but the whole casino. AC can't support 13 casinos they say. People say it's gonna consolidate to 6 or 7 total casinos.

Yeah Caveman, I was at that same table. That guy was GREAT. He open raised as high as 72 in one pot. He'd just grab a bunch of chips then throw them in. Would love to play with him again obv.

How long did u play there for? What seat were u in? (Not sure if that's against the forums rules to ask).

i was in seat 3 wearing the puma hat. i was there from the maybe 9 pm until whenever the table broke. dealer asked the guy if he wanted a rack because his chips were all over the place, some kid flipped out because he thought the dealer was trying to get the guy to leave the game, floor gets called over, everyone makes a huge scene, drunk guy decides to leave.
