no, you got a good deal and you're staying in one of the most historic landmarks in america. back in atlantic city's beginning, the claridge was THE casino to be at. in the game of monopoly, the most valuable properties are boardwalk and park. it is no coincidence that this is the intersection of the claridge.

the rooms are old but they're nice, the property is nice, and it's directly connected to bally's and leads out onto the middle of the boardwalk.

enjoy your trip.

Would be sweet to work something out with anybody going down on a regular basis and looking for gas money. If youre in the city or in Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island I can just train it to wherever youre at. Might want to check out Greyhound as an alternative to NJ Transit. I don't know about the travel packages from NYC, but from Philly and the DC area the comps given on arrival to an AC casino end up paying on average about 1/2 the bus fare.

MUCH less expensive than driving!

Nice. Yeah It looks like GH is $10 cheaper off the bat. Do you have a list of which casinos provide those comps and how much?

they all provide $25. and this will be much faster and more comfortable than an njtransit bus.

Sweet. Is this something you have to line up in advance? Or do you just bring a ticket receipt into the casino somewhere upon arrival?

when the bus pulls into the casino, a casino host will enter the bus before you get off and collect your "bonus coupons" and give you your slot credit.

they all have their nuances... some will put it on your players card, some will give you a different card, some will give you a coupon you can insert in a machine. but the casino host will tell you what to do and if you don't have a players card they'll give you one or tell you how to get one.

you don't have to worry... the casino host that enters the bus is there to make sure you get what you deserve and help you.

when you buy your ticket you'll be given 3 tickets... a ticket there, a return ticket, and a casino bonus ticket.... if you take greyhound (from the lower level of the north terminal) select "atlantic city casino" not "atlantic city" to ensure you get the casino bonus ticket (this is the only tricky part). if you take academy from the lower level of the south terminal you deal with a person and not a machine and always get the casino bonus ticket.

to pre-emptively answer a follow up question... greyhound has nicer buses (cleaner, outlets, they all have bathrooms, most have free wifi) and they have a more frequent schedule. academy is $5 cheaper, and less lines (you'll almost never NOT get on a bus with academy... you have to wait in line a while to get on a greyhound on a friday or saturday).

Interesting. All I read are complaints but I'm not sure what they expect for a older property. Thanks for the response

I've stayed everywhere in AC except for the trump properties. Claridge Tower is without a doubt, the worst.

Its a long walk, seperated from everything, tiny room and you will get to hear EVERYTHING going on in the rooms on either side. I actually called security because the couple next to me were full on raging at each other for a good 45 minutes and my TV wouldn't go loud enough. There's a whole different nightmare story there.

The ice bucket reeked of puke, one lamp broken, etc etc

This was mid week during the off season I believe. Not, first weekened in June....

I suggest begging them for any other room. The luxury towers and dennis towers arent all that great, but a way better option than Claridge or coming back to room blackout drunk so you don't remember anything.

this guy probably knows better than me. i've only been once and liked it but didn't have loud neighbors.

i will however point out that bally's sold off the claridge to an independent operator... hence the difference in price. you cannot switch to a bally's room. different hotel now.

On Academy, Taj Majal gives $30, which is down from $35 for the past year or two. No idea what they give for GH buses.

Re: Chinatown buses from NYC - I found old postings on another site.

The pickup location in Manhattan is 1 Division Street. I've seen it before, the Foxwoods bus is down the block. They say Queens is Kissena Blvd @ Barclay Ave and Brooklyn is 56th St @ 8th Ave but I can't confirm either.

Looks like the info is from 2009:

Is this schedule still accurate?

Concensus on taking 95 to ac expressway from long island vs garden state on Friday afternoon. Would Going out of my way avoid the Friday afternoon shore traffic?

I tried that 4 times. Twice it was faster, twice I sat in traffic in 95. Stopped doing it and just take gsp if I drive.

If you take a bus from NYC to AC can you stay a couple of nights before taking to bus back to NY on the same round trip ticket or do you have to come back that same day?

Also, are there reasonable busses from AC to Foxwoods and back?

Really? That sucks. I got $30 as recently as 5/25. I'd usually take the 3PM bus specifically for that reason, even though the 4PM works better for my schedule.

I'll be going again once or twice before heading out to Vegas for the Monster Stack on 6/25 and will report results.

I take the bus from Long Island occasionally and if you stay overnight(s) you have to make a reservation and they charge you an extra $20 bucks. Daily tickets to Trop/Bally's/Showboat are $45-$48 bucks but you get $30-$35 in slot dollars and $10 in food dollars so the trip is basically free ($20 if you overnight).

So, what's the deal with Greyhound's Philly to A.C service? I was told it's 15 dollars round trip, this sounds like an unbeatable deal. Anyone here used it?

Also, what are the best websites to search when looking for a hotel under 40 dollars that's a maximum of 15 miles from the strip?

Reporting in on a good experience with the Claridge room. It's a very basic room and for $300 for a summer weekend on the boardwalk you can't beat it. I spent maybe 8 hour in the room this weekend. Checked out stilleto Saturday night after hq club and was pretty busy at 4 am.

Without involving time travel to when $40 could buy something?

Not tough to find a room for $40 in a casino Sun-Thurs.
