NYC --> Bethlehem Sands = 82.7 mi; 1.5 hrs
NYC --> Parx = 80.3 mi; 1.5 hrs

And ya gotta love that drive to FW up 95 from Stamford to New Haven. Backed up is the norm both night and day.

3 hrs is more like 3 1/2 to 4.

Don't know of anyone outside the Borgata that has a regular 5/10 game going. Harrah's does get a 2/5 game going, mainly on the weekends and some evenings, however, it does not run always. Other than that, Revel did have some 2/5 going when I checked it out, but not sure of the number of regular games yet.

Taking the academy bus tomorrow from Manhattan to AC. Had a couple questions that maybe people with knowledge can help out with:

(1) Is there a Jitney stop on Pacific in front of all the casinos? The 2 and 3 will take me to the Borg? Can I pay in cash or do I need to get like a metrocard type thing?
(2) About how in advance do I need to arrive to get on the bus home. Is 30 minutes enough to guarantee a seat? I'd probably leave at some point between 1:30 and 4am.
(3) Let's say I'm not really looking forward to the ride home and might want to partake in a little 420 before getting on the bus. If I find a secluded spot on the boardwalk close/on the beech am I likely to not be bothered by police or random psychopaths? Any other ideas or is this just a terrible idea?
(4) This is venue specific, but can I expect to find 10/20 limit holdem at the Borgata if I arrive at noonish tomorrow?

Thanks to anyone that can help.

It's been a few years since I used Academy but it used to be that a bus would depart from one casino then stop at one other one to pick up more passengers. If you boarded at the first casino getting a seat was never a problem. At the second you had a small chance of not getting a seat. Check the schedule, if you see two departures 15 minutes apart that is usually the same bus making two pick-ups.

Sometimes, if Academy's business was slow, a scheduled late night/early morning bus would get cancelled without notice. I don't know if that is still a problem.

(1) Yes, yes, cash ($2.25)

(2) Definitely (but I will take your money)

One note on the jitney is to leave yourself enough time to get to where you need to go. Standing isn't allowed on the jitney, and there have been times even at offpeak hours I've had to wait for a later jitney because one was full. I normally walk everywhere on the boardwalk but one morning I was dead tired at 6am going from the Taj to the Trop so I took the jitney, and even at that late hour I had to wait for the second one since the first one was full.

Well I ended up taking the bus. When I got off the bus they gave me a $25 slot credit but I needed to sign up for a card at Ballies and there was a line at least 200 donks deep of people signing up for a card. I didn't have the patience for this so I took a cab to the Borg. The cab was $13 and I gave the cab driver $20 and asked for $5 back, and then he told me he didn't have any change. That short of **** infuriates me, so I waited while the bellhop gave me a 5 and 15 singles for my 20. I gave the angry cab driver 13 singles, cause **** him, and gave the bellhop $3 for giving me change.

Cockpit's tip to get the earlier of the two busses when there is a 20 minute difference was dead on. I got a 12:10am bus, and got a great seat. I still didnt get to port authority until 3am. $36 bus, and $45 in cabs was my total bill (to and from borg and from port authority to my apartment).

I probably should suck it up at wait until the 4am bus next time, but getting home at 7am really sucks.

Wife and I went over to the new Atlantic Club (formerly ACH, formerly Hilton, formerly I forget what) to check it out.

No poker room (the one that ACH built is closed, as is the Asian Games room - everything is moved downstairs now) but they do have awesome 25 cent and 50 cent chips for those of us who collect such things. Just ask at a blackjack table for the 50 cent ones, or a craps table for both.

There's nothing new about it. It's the same poophole with the same ownership (a person who once said, "Poker brings in the riff-raff"), just now they don't wanna pay for the Hilton name (that, or Hilton would rather not be associated with that place).

I wanted to boycott the place long ago but I just couldn't, because the games they had were quite possibly the softest NL games in the country and also I made friends with the regs, dealers and floors there (some of whom are at Revel now). I've been keeping the place a secret, but now I don't have to because they just got rid of poker 2 weekends ago. (For the past 3 months they've been saying they're gonna move Poker to where a slot area is and get us more tables and more hours of operation, but instead they do the opposite, get rid of poker completely, right before the summer.)

Most AC regulars didn't even know it had poker, because poker was only open on weekends at certain hours, and they only had 2 poker tables located next to Craps in the middle of the floor. They used to have 4 in that area. They used to have poker upstairs, then downstairs, then up-down and up-down (5 switches total, if memory serves me correctly).

Sometimes they would close full tables on late Saturday nights, because they didn't schedule dealers for the next shift. I remember they once did that on a super-busy holiday like New Year's Eve or 4th of July.

They're lousy in other areas too besides poker, but I've ranted enough for now. Bottom line-- do yourself a favor, stay away from that place. Yeah they're desperately offering low-limit games and free parking (the only smart decisions I've ever seen them make), but I say let them go out of business. With Revel here, AC doesn't need ACH, if you're on that end of the boardwalk go to Trop instead.

I met a couple friends for dinner at the steak house in the old hilton a while back, and then decided to play in those tables next to the crap tables. 2 1/2 games with people who seemsed to know all the players, I was like an outsider in someones house lol. they were the slowest games in the history of poker. The players were totally in control of the game with a young kid dealer just sitting there and laughing along with them. it seemed like one hand every 5 minutes. So I soon flopped a full house slow played it and got all my chips in the took off to the stare down of some big dude lol I would never go back to that place
