Borgata, Hard Rock, Harrah's, Caesar's and The Trop are locks to reopen, in my opinion.

Bally's was on the way out, regardless of Coronavirus. I'm not too confident about the Nugget, either.

I think Resorts and Ocean will reopen, too, but I wouldn't put any money on it.

Nothing named Harrahs or Caesars is a lock to survive this.

Call me crazy but if borgata closed, I would be extremely shocked. Like really disappointed for the northeast poker community if this happened.

Two weeks is a number they will throw out to gain some room. A week into this turmoil they will say till further notice.... no surprise. Give it some time, maybe a month or two and you can put your toes in the sand, till then …..on line for your degns.

I haven't paid a ton of attention since I moved away 7 years ago, but I think 3.5 feels right. I mean, only 1 reopening isn't a 1-in-a-million possibility, but I'd bet the over on anything 3 or less (and hammer it at 1.5). You gotta remember that economics look much better for any player left standing as others exit the market - this is why Caesars closed Showboat even though it was eeking out a small profit, they thought they could shift a bunch of the demand to their other properties through TR and get much better flow-through. Even if total demand for AC gambling fell by 1/3 or even 1/2 long-term, there would be a ton of revenue to soak up for a 2nd and 3rd property other than Borgata to reopen.

You speak rubbish, the properties that put millions into the houses and will not let them go down on a health issues, they will comply with the gov recommendation and reopen when the coast is clear. Stay calm and play on line...

I was in AC this past weekend and stopped by Tropicana, Hardrock and played poker at Borgata rest of the weekend. Comforting emails aside, none of these properties seemed to be doing much at all to combat the pandemic. They cut things that don't make money (buffets/etc) but there were no extra cleaning personnel to be seen or extra hand sanitizer dispensers or much of anything that I would consider substantial. They will reopen the second they can reopen. And they will ask for even more tax credits and government incentives (that you are paying for.)

Gambling is a predatory business and I have no illusions that the casinos care about me. I never thought casinos are a benefit to AC, either. They created the only ghetto on the 5000 miles of prime ocean coastline. The second they can get back in business to drain more local money, they will.

If AC casinos didn’t exist, do you think people from NYC and other parts of the country would visit ac? Without the casinos, AC would be dead. I agree 100% on your thoughts on predatory actions by casinos but isn’t it the customers responsibility to care about hygiene etc? Is it really wise to gamble when this is going on?

If every casino was shut down in AC, the local economy would really hit the shitter. Dining, shopping, etc would all go out of business. No need for uber/lift drivers. AC really should be gentrified and improved however it’s never going to happen if it already hasn’t. The fact casinos were allowed to pop up in other states, etc in the northeast really imo hurt AC as it’s not the only or small # of options for the northeast.

Well CET is still in massive amounts of debt, and will be hemorrhaging money across all of their properties, including the ones in Vegas. Then you have to consider that they would be re-opening into, most likely, a recession economy.

I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility at all.

They were going to merge (or be bought....whatever you want to call it) by El Dorado. The deal was agreed but didn't officially close yet. Obviously, the shutdown from this coronavirus could kill the deal.

Going to be interesting to see how that deal plays out and how it'll affect AC (El Dorado also owns Tropicana in AC).

what really hurt ac was lazy inept complacent management. they had like a 25 year head start on casino gambling on the east coast with the exception of Indian Casinos.foxwoods didn't even allow gambling until 1992.

AC had zero competition for a long time, the casinos were going to print money not matter what. However the casinos were all run like ****, were allowed to get worn down, had no draw other than gambling and weren't remotely optimized. But bc they still printed money nobody up top gave a ****. Most people don't realize how inept most casino management in general is,let alone how inept it is in AC.

Borgata came in and kicked their ass. Other casinos started popping up in nearby states and kicked their ass further. They had an effective monopoly for a long time and managed to mess that up. They deserve what they get.

If they’d spent money on the airport a coupe of decades ago and built out the boardwalk casino hotels as a destination for people who would fly in instead of just taking buses fr Chinatown and downtown Philly, things could have been so much different.

You are right with this post. It is questionable why they didn't invest more in the local community. AC is super grimey. Just walking the boardwalk/local area..... its really annoying when homeless/poor people panhandle.

AC could have been a nice beach town with casinos however no investment was made in the local area. Its funny because there is some great dining and nice shopping (tangier outlets) however its all surrounded by crappy poor people. If AC was gentrified, would be a hot spot and rival of vegas.

I really miss the Tennessee Ave beer hall, I miss the Amphora Lounge, and even AC Burger Co.

AC will be back up, sooner or later. I've never missed AC so much in my life lol

I hope all the staff is doing ok, and that city itself is holding together.

Theyre closed to public, but are shipping nationwide with some service they contracted.

Went to water dog other day for take out. Has wide selection of smoked sandwiches, bbq, and lox(they do a ton of smoked salmon) really really good. On boarder of ventnor and margate. Definitely worth a trip down.

Apologies if this has been posted before but I haven't been active on 2+2 for many years and a search did not result in much other than the "Diamond in a Day" thread which mostly focuses on obtaining status with Caesars.

So I matched IHG Spire Ambassador -> Wydham -> Caesars Diamond as described in the Diamond in a Day thread.

I then went to AC in February. There, I matched Caesars -> M life Gold at the Borgata. I also matched Caesars -> Hard Rock Rock Royalty at the Hard Rock (ex Taj Mahal).

Lastly, I matched M life Gold -> Hyatt Explorist online.

Now, I was able to use the comps and free play at Caesars (celebration dinner etc.), and the comps and free play at Hard Rock and the Borgata.

So the description just in case this isn't common knowledge around here.

As for my questions: I still have two free nights available at the Borgata and two at the Hard Rock AC available from the matches. It doesn't look as I will be able to use those nights due to covid-19.

Does somebody have info if the validity of the free nights gets extended at either property? Also, as a donk not having the roll for 1/2NL, what is the "cheapest" game to play for fun in AC: Would that be 2-4-6 LHE?

Oh, and I'm based in Europe, so I need a few weeks in advance before trips to AC (otherwise flights get too expensive). Hence my questions on somehow getting the nights extended.
