They drop one in the jackpot pre flop. They do not rake unless there's a flop at TSR.

How does this relate to the secret compact with the tribes? If the legislature approves this sports betting bill, do they have no further oversight over the compact?

The concept of "I'm doing this in secret, so just trust me" always seems to have some bad results.

It's not really a secret. It only gets subjective in the nitty gritty of what the terms mean, such as slot machines that are really a different game.

https://gaming.az.gov/arizona-tribal...gaming-compact

I noticed that it was signed in 2003 and can last up to a maximum of 23 years.

edit: oh I see the details of the compact are being held in secret. Yeah that's bad.

Yeah it's not clear what the relationship of the sports betting bill and the secret compact is. Like, if they approve the sports betting bill, does that also approve the compact that no one has seen? From some of the comments people are making, it sounds like that may be the case. One article on a site said that even if this bill passes now, we won't be able to place bets until 2022.

On another note, Ducey removed all COVID-related business restrictions. I wonder if they will add more tables at TSR or remove the plexiglass? The mask requirement is still in effect, as it should be.

Plexiglass maybe, but can’t see how they add more tables yet, unfortunately. The social distancing mandate is still in effect.

Yes.

I don't think the Gov's orders are actually binding on the casino.

So wait, a pro sports team like the Cardinals is going to run a betting operation, setting lines, etc? Are they going to be prohibited from taking action involving their team? Otherwise it seems very wrong. Suppose they're having their usual sucky season, it's near the end and they have no chance of playoffs. They could set a line inviting action on their side and then throw the game. They could make more money from people losing bets than selling tickets.

I'm assuming there's about a 0% chance of them letting a sports team set the lines on its own games. They will use the lines set by whatever casino they partner with.

I would hope not. It just seems weird that they would conclude the best organizations to make book would be sports teams.

DD West Valley updated their Bravo to "Re-Opening Soon!"

I wonder when Talking Stick will open up more tables?

Finally!!! I went there twice last March before it closed for Covid, they have a really nice room. Does anyone have any inside information about when “soon” will be? Not sure about talking stick, but I’ve almost decided to stop going there, the wait list is getting ridiculous with only 23 tables .

Someone on the unofficial FB page for DD West Valley claim they heard Apr 24 or 26 for re-opening. Seems like a long time to plan to re-open. I'm not sure what DUCY's plan is (there is one?), but maybe they know something.

Could TSR move the extra tables into a ballroom and run tournaments in there? Would that be worth it?

Is Talking stick still offering poker rate?
I remember the last time I was there May 2019, I got $99 a night with 6 hours of play.
Thanks

It looks like the poker room at WHP is finally moving to Lone Butte two miles down the road. There’s no covered parking/garage or hotel at that location. Parking can be a challenge on weekends. Anyone have any ideas why the move? Speculation welcome.

Where is it going, that large space for the restaurant/bar/nightlife area that is always empty? Or the area in the far back that used to have table games.

I have no idea why they would want to move it. It seems to make sense to have it at your premier property if room is available and it seems like there is. They don't seem to have a need to increase their table game limit as there are always empty tables, especially in the higher roller room.

The only thing I can think of is that they did downsize their table games at Lone Butte, but they had like 20 tables prior to COVID, there cant be demand for all of those to be table games unless it is due to new rules and craps and roulette are coming with dealers?

There were rumors about that happening a few years ago when I started working there but they have always been just that, rumors. Now the belief was that they were going to take VQ Poker & WHP Poker and combine them at Lone Butte and since half of that has already happened maybe the other half is falling into place. My personal speculation is that with sports betting possibly becoming a reality in the near future, more people will use sports betting versus poker so they would rather have sports betting at their flagship property and although it might be a bit small, I have always felt like the current Wild Horse poker room would make for a nice closed in sports book. Or the current poker room could house craps and roulette when that begins. And as far as where Poker will be placed at Lone Butte, I heard rumblings about turning the event center into a poker room.

A month seems reasonable because I would imagine they have to basically re-hire the entire poker room and more importantly (and more time consuming) get everyone who was re-hired licensed and badged again. Even if they fast track through tribal gaming it could still take at minimum 2-4 weeks to get through ADOG. I also imagine DD would not start the process until they know for sure that they can 100% reopen poker and I think they were waiting until capacity restrictions were lifted.

I believe it’s going behind the main cage in the mostly unused event center. Last thing I saw in there was a cornhole tournament. Unconfirmed date of 4/16. I doubt that the tribe would be out in front of sports betting becoming legal but, interesting theory.

I thought sports betting was going to be done by sports teams.

Anyone gotten vaccinated yet? Do they require proof of occupation? There are HUNDREDS of available spots to get vaccinated today before the free for all starts tomorrow. All you have to do is change your occupation on the form to "healthcare worker" and you can make an appointment for today. I'm considering doing it and if they ask for proof just say "I'm not a healthcare worker at the moment but I'm looking for work in that field." or something like that.

May as well use one of the open spots that would go to waste, right? Or would that be unethical?
