I second this for a unique experience gobbo. This used to be literally 5 minutes from my house. We had it almost monthly until it moved too far away for takeout, and we've only been back once.

It is Swedish/Polish combo that used to be located in Canada.

Eden's Grill (This is a Greek/Mediterranean place located at Thunderbird & Tatum, maybe 20 min from CAZ. Family run place, only downside is they stopped selling this awesome cake they used to make. I guess it was the daughter's wedding cake but when she got divorced, they stopped making it. But everything remaining on the menu is excellent.)
+1 for eden's grill best Greek I've had in arizona. I am not a big Fleming's fan, I think there are better choices, any Mastro's place, Donovan's, Del Frisco's.

Would add Roka Akor for japanese teppanyaki grill, and Grass roots / Twisted Grove restaurants for upscale healthyish food quite close to the casino.

Jimmy I went to that vegas pizza place twice this summer (settebello?) it was super good but pizzeria bianco is better.

I guess I'm not too picky with my higher end steak places. Really liked Heritage Steak at Mirage but then heard the reviews were not great.

Of course, I was born in England so that might be part of it. Across the pond, everything is cooked well done and if you don't contract mad cow disease, that's considered a win.

Welcome Diner is in the hood but they make damn good food. There's a 24 hour crepe bar called Jobot around the corner too.

Binkley's is legit, as is Vincent on Camelback. House of Tricks in Tempe is worthy of consideration too, last time I was there I had this:

smoked foie gras and anise-cinnamon sopapilla with vanilla mango broth, pomegranate, and lime crema.

Pizzeria Bianco is pretty good, I like Pomo Pizzeria as well.

Best Mexican food will be found at Carolina's in Phoenix.

My girlfriend and I went to Sweet Republic for ice cream last night which is a few miles north of the casino. They have some eclectic flavors including lime basil sorbet and bacon habanero with avocado (may have been my favorite tbh)

Wow, this place is right down the street from me in a little strip mall. I've never been too serious about trying it but after looking at the menu I'm definitely going this week.

House of Tricks gave me one poor experience and I've never been back. I think I took my wife there for one of our anniversaries, and after we ordered, the waitress brought out the dessert menu before we even got our food. That and the food wasn't memorable made us not too impressed and haven't been back.

We joked that it was actually a good idea to bring out the dessert menu before bringing the food out because we were still hungry and dessert sounded awesome right then.

Tucson has two or three better restaurants than any that I've tried in Phoenix (may just have not been to the best places). But this one sounds good.

I've never seen a breakfast diner blow the competition away but can rely on Original Pancake House (15 min from CAZ) and Randy's (10 min) are solid.
Butters and Butterfields are the best and closer.

+1 for Mastros City Hall. Probably the best steak I've had in the Valley. I like Durants too.

Downtown Phoenix has a ton of artisan pizza places that are good. Pizzeria Bianco, Pomo, Cibo, Forno 301 and La Piazza PHX.

I lived in Phoenix for a year and a half, but never heard of a place called "Arcadia".

Its legit, Daniel Bryan lives there. Its what the area of town is called. Kinda like a sub community.

Don't those places all close about 10 pm? Last time I was there and tried to find food late night I drove around for an hour with no joy.

IMO the poker room menu or the nearby café is the best late night food around, and very competitive the rest of the time.
Um, no. No. No no no no nononononononono. No. No.

Scottsdale has some fantastic dining options ranging from mom and pop everyday all the way up to once in a lifetime dining experiences. Some phenomenal places were mentioned above. The poker room kitchen, yeah it's fine for a poker room but you can do much better. It's also expensive.

We found Akita sushi last year. Finally looked up the name. You guys been? It was phenomenal last year but it could've just been a good day. Was better than Vegas AYCE sushi which is usually very good.

I've eaten at Akita only once. I will not be back. Especially since, as OTR mentioned, Hiro Sushi is around the corner. It is considerably more expensive but worth every penny.

There are already plenty of other places to play in the Phoenix area. The problem is that TS is the most conveniently located for most of the population, especially the well-off Scottsdale population.
