I keep hearing early 2016 but who knows.... I monitor the facebook page and they've broke ground and are hiring but as far as an opening day, I don't think that is public knowledge yet.

No other legit poker rooms in the area for anyone who is considerably North of Talking Stick as Wild Horse is too far a drive. The other casinos are jokes as far as poker rooms which plays right into the Talking Stick monopoly and allows them to get away with all the crap they pull. That is why the Salt River tribe is trying so hard to stop the Glendale casino from opening. They don't want any real competition.

Be careful what you wish for. I don't think that the Phoenix market can support 2 major rooms. And then there's the matter of the gaming commission, supported by the Governor, who has already told the tribe that they will not get a license. The whole thing'll likely end up in court for years.

After all the legal back and forth on a federal level, the State has stated that the will not issue them( in Glendale) a Gaming license:
http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/...ning/25915541/

Governor Ducey supports this and so does the AG( who happens to be the former director of the state gaming agency). Thats a big wall to get over.

One thing to keep in mind as well...ALL Casino employees in the state are ALSO(must be) licensed by the state.
If the state isnt issuing a license to the Casino, they are not going to license individuals to work there.
SO, individuals who already have gaming licenses and are working elsewhere and go to work there( if they open unapproved) will risk and likely lose their current gaming license, and if they lose it, good luck getting it back.

It's already been in federal court for quite some time and the State has lost at every turn. The Gaming commission will be ordered to provide the Glendale Casino with the necessary licenses. The commission was ready to issue the licenses until Ducey and his hack AG interfered. It will all be resolved by the Federal Courts in the next few months. The State can appeal all they want but the Casino will be up and running by early next year at the latest. Book it.

Of course it matters, do you have legitimate sources, or did you "just hear" and why could it change by early 2017, what happens then?

I'm been following this closely and I'm "pretty sure" I know the source. I have checked with various legal scholars and they are ok with me releasing it on an anonymous forum.
Since he will not give up the source, maybe he WILL corroborate it.

I heard roughly the same timeline from........................... a little birdie

I don't know how reliable it is, but the 500 Nations website lists the property details, and has "25 poker tables" listed under Features/Casino.

http://cdcgamingreports.com/judge-as...endale-casino/

"The Tohono O’Odham Nation’s $200 million casino, called the West Valley Resort, will open in December with bingo-style machines but won’t be allowed to have slot machines or many card or other games allowed under a full casino license, Spinelli said."

Still more confusion as to what will and wont be allowed, guess we will know further in a few weeks when the judge makes a ruling.

Surprised they decided to open it without being allowed to offer slots.

I'm going to be in Phoenix for work a few days in November, I was also wondering about the turnouts for the nightly tournaments.

I'm going to be in the Tempe area for a few days in November. Where is my best option for no limit cash, and what typically is running in the evening (on a Monday and Tuesday night)?

Scottsdale is an awesome place to live and a highly recommend it. That being said what do you consider not expensive? Non summer months on a golf course won't be cheap unless you want to live near Silverado or something and even then will still run at least 1200 of imagine.

Hey desert rats, former online grinder here

Basically I'm trying to figure out where to play based on the rake/quality of game

Talk stik offers 2/3

Wild horse has 1/2

I don't fully understand both casinos rake structure, are they the same?? Which is the better game??

At ts I don't like the idea of payin 5 bux every orbit w only a 200 dollar stack, but I suppose the pots might b bigger making it a better game if the rake is the same

Any advice is appreciated I just don't exactly understand the subtleties of the two games

Thx, boxcar

I don't play these games, but someone who does has answered the exact same question within the last 2 weeks. If it's not in this thread, it must be in the thread for one of the two venues. Check them out.

Yeah im currently on page 80 of "the arena" thread which has like 275 pages

Ive read some other az threads as well

But i havent exactly seen anyone address the difference in blind structure. My earn per hour is very important to me so im tryin to understand the subtle differences between the two games at whp and talking stick
