There was a discussion of a chop or a save once the FT began but the big stacks sorta nixed the idea so we played on. I was shocked. And I was one of the shorties so I was actually willing to chop or save (making me a hypocrite for my past comments on the idea of chopping).

When I busted in 7th, the last thing I heard as I stood up was a player asking "so do you want to discuss a chop?" Nothing frosts me more, can you please at least wait until I've gotten out of my seat and my casket is in the ground? LOL

Had a very fun 20/40 Omaha 8/b game going last night.

It started around 5:10 when the must move 20/40 hold'em game got down to 4 handed, and we decided to change it to a HO game with the H part never really happening.

Game quickly got full and was still full when I left at 9 with a waiting list of at least 5 people.

In a game that would normally be one of the worst 20/40 hold'em games (in terms of who was playing), was instead an off the hook Omaha 8/b game.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Hopefully we can play that a bit more often, so I can take my learning lumps at 20/40 before trying to transition into the bigger mix games.

Starting Oct 1st $100+15+5 sng's with $1000 for 1st.

I briefly talked to one of the TD's and suggested they change it to this format :

$130+15+5 ($150 total buy in 10 players )
1st: $650
2nd: $400
3rd: $250

TD said the guy who can make decisions is on vacation but he liked my idea.

Over 8 hours of a 20/40 Omaha 8/b game is pretty strong IMO.

Hmmm. Thx for update.
Why "+15+5"? Is there really a dealer toke for a STT? So 20% vigorish? REALLY, you thiefs? LOL
Starting stacks? Structure?

I bet these will be very similar to online hyper turbos.
Calling George Lind III, your ship has just come in...

If George plays these I will play despite the ridic rake just so I can learn from the best.

The sngs are the same format as the state shootouts.

1500 chips and 25/50 blinds to start.

They added a dealer $5 addon which gives you 500 chips.

I got into the 20 must move hold'em game at about 4:45 and it converted sometime between 5 and 5:30 (not officially until after 5:30 where the Floor finally made a list for it and brought the correct placard over)

Fitty bucks tip for the dealer right off the top. Assuming levels are 15 to 20 minutes, that's a nice chunk of change for < 2 hours of work.

Either way, I don't think this will be a profitable structure to play. There's not a good chance that superturbos can really be beatable for any good winrate even if you get the vig down to 15% instead of 20%.

(Online, this would probably be an unbeatable game structure, but who knows what winrates could be vs live players so maybe I'm wrong.)

I'm more concerned about the other effects of the SNGs. I kind of like the idea of winner take all. It's good for the poker economy.

This means some guy who usually only has $100 bucks on him to play poker books a $1000 win. He might sit in a cash game and lose more than his usual $100 budget or maybe he just keeps coming back more times than he might have.

Of course maybe this backfires and it takes players looking for a big score away from the cash games because SNGs get more popular?

I have to clarify my $25 bounty offer. It is 1 winner/day and it is ARIZONA time. Friend (****er) tried to collect today, showed me a post w/ a time stamp after 3pm, and was 'confused' when I said 2p2 doesn't run on ARIZONA time. Since he was still unconvinced I reminded him that I owe pope $25 and did he think that I was stupid enough to make the same mistake twice?

ARIZONA time!

I agree with you about the profitability. The state shootouts were soft, but even then I don't think a person could grind them for big profits.

The issue I have with winner take all is regs working together either by softplaying, chip dumping, or chopping it between themselves.

Let's say in a winner take all format 3 regs always play. These 3 guys decide to stay out of each others way until it's down to 4-5 players, then they either chip dump or team up on the other players. They also always chop with each other and split the winnings.

A format like this is much more facilitative to such tactics than a top 3 paid format imo.

So when did drink prices go up? 6 bucks for a draft beer is pretty rude

Late for a meeting, I tip the valet $5 and ask him to keep my car close, and explain I will be right back. 15 minutes later, i give a valet my ticket and wait.

And wait. Finally after 5 minutes of valets bringing in cars that aren't mine I ask what is going on. only then does one look for my keys. He sprints out to the middle of the lot and returns with my car, top left down in a 100 degree day.

I ask why my car wasn't parked in one of the open spaces in the shaded area up front and he mumbled something about not sure I was VIP. I would have asked what he thought keeping it close meant or why he didnt put my top up if this wasn't a standard experience with the worst valets ever.

What's annoying me today besides higher drink prices? They print the comps automatically when you sign out. They know that a lot of us won't return for a week when it will be expired. They are essentially stealing $5 from the 980k HPF.

The $5 likely comes out when it's used, not printed.

So a couple hours after football last night, as the room is thinning out, our 8/16 Omaha gets down to 6 handed. We ask the floor for a reduced rake. He whispers to the dealer and walks away. We ask, "what did he say?" She says he said to take one less, and we all just kind of look at each other. One guy says he's not playing 6 handed for 5 bucks a hand, and starts to rack up.

Another player says, "hang on, lemme tell them the game is gonna break if we can't get a better rake." He comes back and said the floor guy said something like, he is not allowed to make that decision / nothing he can do, or something like that. So the game breaks.

So my question is, if the floor cannot make a decision, then who are we supposed to go to?

Either:

A) He is lying to our face by saying he cannot make that decision, or
B) There is absolutely no one in charge that has the authority to make a decision.

I'm not sure which is worse.

I wonder which floor. One less is unusual, it's usually JP and two and sometimes JP and one. Sounds like one of the temp dealer/floor ppl who was afraid to do anything that might cause him/her trouble.

It was not one of the temporary guys. I won't say his name, but he's one of the younger guys...reddish blond hair i think

OK, I know who you mean. IME, he's nitty w/ regard to reducing the rake. I'd have let him walk away and then walked up to another floor person (so that he wouldn't hear an announcement), ask that one to come over and ask for a rake reduction.

I happen to get along w/ all of the floors, am friendly w/ this one, but know what he's like and suggest the above as a practical matter.

You really need to call it off because you really can't do it.

You posted yesterday and Saturday as well during the hours specified.

You aren't even trying.

And I'm not taking any more, 1 bounty per person.

, ok, I'll let you be the nice guy but you know I would've paid (that part's aimed at the posters who don't know me well enough to realize that). I don't think that I can take it off bec I didn't leave an out in the original post. Plus I don't want to anyway, I need the discipline. That, and I didn't even realize what I was doing bec I haven't gone to CAZ since the 1st. After you caught me again I put a post-it on my computer to remind me not to post from 3-10, oy vey.
