    I would call off the river bet. He could have busted draws, lower pp, air etc.

    I agree, I don't think a high pocket pair checks behind turn. You are near the top of your range after you check again on the river and he is betting 1/3 pot. If he hit a random J with AJ suited it's just variance.

    ~25% pot odds....he may well have spiked the J but there is a hell of a lot more in his range that you beat, so an easy call.
