.20 45-man final table ICM spot? .20 45-man final table ICM spot?

05-13-2012 , 03:05 AM
$2.20 turbo 45-man SNG, 4-handed at the final table. I'm pretty sure I should only be 3b shoving AK, QQ+ here due to the shortstacks on my right. Is this a good estimation of my range due to ICM or should it be even tighter? Does it really even matter since I'm playing for first anyways?

Merge - $2+$0.20|<> NL - Holdem - 4 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

BTN: 3,450.00
SB: 5,355.00
Hero (BB): 14,552.00
UTG: 44,143.00

BTN posts ante 100.00, SB posts ante 100.00, Hero posts ante 100.00, UTG posts ante 100.00, SB posts SB 600.00, Hero posts BB 1,200.00

Pre Flop: (2200.00) Hero has A K

UTG raises to 2,400.00, fold, fold, Hero raises to 14,452.00 and is all-in, UTG calls 12,052.00

Flop: (29904.00, 2 players) 6 4 J

Turn: (29904.00, 2 players) 6

River: (29904.00, 2 players) 2

Hero shows A K (One Pair, Sixes) (Pre 48%, Flop 4%, Turn 0%)
UTG shows 4 4 (Full House, Fours full of Sixes) (Pre 52%, Flop 96%, Turn 100%)
UTG wins 29,904.00

I think if he open shoved then you would have a tough decision to make but seeing as he min raises you still have fold equity so good shove.

yeah you have tons of fold equity and he's like opening a lot here.
ez shove

So since my calling range is pretty narrow when he shoves how wide can he shove? I'm thinking like any pocket pair, most suited one gappers, all aces, kings, and like Q6+ or something?

Well if he was sb and you were bb, he should be shoving any two if he knows that you know you can't callyour icm. He won't be raising or shoving too wide in this hand as he is UTG and you are BB so there's no point raising/shoving 52o or something and just doubling one of the shorties up.

folding AKo, but getting it in with AKs. AKs is like the bottom of our range here. AKs, QQ+

That's our range to call a shove right? Pretty sure we can shove a lot wider than that as we have a lot of fold equity.

i disagree with u. We're playing for the 1st place because there is a huge difference between 1st and 4th places. In this spot UTG could shove pretty any two cards. My range would be A7o+, 66+

'Playing for first' isn't an excuse to disregard ICM!

while I agree with you that we are playing for 1st place, BLINDLY playing for 1st place will get you nowhere. you have to take ICM into consideration

BTN has 2.8 BB
SB has 3.9 BB

if you lose this spot, you are out, and practically giving the shortstacks your equity.

and UTG is not shoving. He is raising. There is a difference.
