Hey Guys, for some reason I was running good in the 180s,
maybe because I was not confronted with edgy situations for the past time.
The given hand puts me somewhat into a strange situation,
we are down to 34 Persons, hence my thought process was:
1 should I make it 2x and fold to a RR? ( I still will be ITM)
2 the BTN was taking everybody of the table with suited bottom+ Aces
3 Given my mid position and tightness for the last orbits I expected folds
I shoved and felt terrible about this hand
For the last xx tournaments I realized my Bubble play is pretty much garbage,
esp. if I am at a table with 3
"I call with any pair as u have to have high cards" russians
I'd be delighted for some hints,
if you tell me I'm a looser and have no clue thats fine 2
Preflop: Hero is MP3 with K A
3 folds, Hero raises to 4,741 and is all-in, CO folds, BTN raises to 10,381 and is all-in, SB folds, BB calls 9,581
Flop: (26,503) 2 4 7 (3 players, 2 are all-in) Turn: (26,503) 4 (3 players, 2 are all-in) River: (26,503) 6 (3 players, 2 are all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: 26,503 pot
Final Board: 2 4 7 4 6
BB showed 8 8 and won 26,503 (16,047 net)
Hero showed K A and lost (-4,816 net)
BTN showed A T and lost (-10,456 net)
I would not pay too much attention to mincashing in this format given that you pretty much only get your buyin back (i liked the old payout structure more - the current one is garbage IMO)
Also folding AKo in an MTT sng with 5bbs before ITM is borderline criminal
as hatemylife said we dont need to concern ourselves with min cashing. our goal needs to be to accumulate as many chips as possible to try and finish top 3... we have 5bbs im shoving chipev here and not concerned with icm here
If you are questioning this then there is no way you should be playing 8/180s, because you're clearly an absolute beginner. You did ask, and I don't feel slightly bad about telling you, but you actually don't have a clue. This is the sort of situation that would only take a couple of minutes to teach an 10 year old to play correctly. Drop all the way back down to the $0.50 games (180man or 360 man) and try to beat those first, otherwise you'll very likely destroy your bankroll in no time unless you continue to run hotter than the sun.
This is about as easy and clear as 6bb shoves get, over the long term you will make a lot of money by shoving all in, and you're just being a results oriented fish about this instance
Raise fold here would basically be like setting money on fire, don't even consider it. Just ship it, and be very happy that you got dealt a premium hand just when you needed it.
The fact this is a few seats from the bubble is also completely irrelevant, it literally doesn't matter, this is why we have bankroll management.
what kind of range are we happy enough to shove here without doing the calcs for peoples calling ranges??
is it all good to have a fairly default range of shoves here just based on our stack size without factoring in wider / tighter ranges from players behind?
could someone that knows please give some type of range of hands that they are shoving from here?
I would jam: 22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q6s+, J7s+, T7s+, 97s+, 87s, 76s, A2o+, K7o+, Q9o+, JTo as per default. I usually have no clue about my opponents calling ranges so havent done any calcs on it. Pretty sure its close to equilibrium though..
I am just typing on my tablet, but for sure you have more than 6000 equity in the side pot of about 17000 so this is fine even if you know they are going to call with these hands. Luck is part of the game. Be happy you got the money in good regardless of the result and start another one.
If your poker budget allows it then play 8 dollar tournaments if that's the level you like to play, even if you are -ev. At least you won't be like me picking up bad habits at the lower levels.
If you are questioning this spot than you are questioning all of your premiums I presume hence your short stack. I know you can get dealt a string of bad cards and blind off but that's why you should never let spots like this pass you!
Even AA will loose some times and if that's the reason you won't play it you are playing a wrong game mate.
