10bb t400 call shove BVB with J9s vs reg? 10bb t400 call shove BVB with J9s vs reg?

Hi. I always read that we should push with a big range and call with a small range. But how small that call range should be?

Villain is playing 9/9 with 45 hands. Generally I think that this stats means he is a regular, in this case he is playing 10+ table so I assume he is a reg.

But this is a $0.50 so I don't expect him to be shoving 100%. I shove 100% in this spot if I'm in his position...

Even if he is shoving 100% I generally fold this type of hand, I'm calling with Ax K9o K2s Q9o Q8s 22+. But I'm not calling with suited connectors.

I finally bought a icmizer subscription and the program is saying if villain is pushing 63% of hands the J9s is a huge profit call of +0.92bb. I can call with J7s and T8s too.

Are you guys calling that light vs others regs? This is a easy call?

The hand at icmizer: http://www.icmpoker.com/icmizer/#iqQL

PokerStars - $0.45+$0.05|200/400 Ante 50 NL - Holdem - 8 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 5,000
SB: 4,036
Hero (BB): 4,485
UTG: 4,674
UTG+1: 4,363
MP: 4,790
MP+1: 9,585
CO: 3,672

8 players post ante of 50, SB posts SB 200, Hero posts BB 400

Pre Flop: (pot: 1,000) Hero has J 9

fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, SB raises to 3,986 and is all-in, Hero ???

I'm not pushing with 60%+ on the SB in this spot, but maybe I'm just bad :P
More like 30-40%

I think fold is fine here..Like what are u hoping that he is shoving to make ur call profitable? I mean he can shove 10x etc if he is a reg..even 96s+ on same cases, but that is such a small percentage of time. I think folding is the best option..

Without any evidence to suggest so especially at this level don't assume they are pushing 100%. In my experience it is much more likely to be top 20% than 100% in this spot. Hence I am folding this without much consideration.

I think a lot more people make the mistake thinking I would be shoving x% here so therefore this guy must be.

even with 10BB and villain shoving almost 100% J9 is too weak to call. Thats just the nature of the game.

On your ICM link you have the calculation set to HU winner take all... this is incorrect, your not in a heads up winner take all payout structure tourney.

You need to make your decisions based on the tourney you are playing.

ie. if the above tourney was a 45man turbo, and BVB the villain was shoving 98% you can only call (19.9%) 55+,A3s+,A7o+,K8s+,KTo+,QTs+,QJo.

Thanks for the answers guys.

@Matsuri Must be a bug at icmizer because i'm not using ICM i'm using chip BB EV so we can not even choose the tournament structure. But I check the link and the call range is right.

Agreed that we must take in consideration is a $0.50... But I think most regs is shoving close to 100% here, so if we recognize a reg in this spot we must call because is so +ev. Of course if it's far from the money.

In hand I ended up folding my J9s.

This is too loose to call. But in a world where you're 100% certain he shove ATC from SB, you can make this call.

Jc9c 55.662%
random 44.338%

When you include a hand, please include what size the tournament field is. I hate thinking about a hand, just to find out... oh we are far from the money, or its a 180 man. Sure I can guess from the stack sizes and blind lvl, but I don't really wanna do that.

Including all information will get you a better answer. And BTW in a 45 or 18man at this Blind Lvl, ICM is what I use,.. not CHipEV.

Call if this is a cEV spot.
J9s btw is a far better hand than Q9o or K2s. If villain is indeed shoving 100% this is like the pure nuts.
