Which brings up the point that "better" might just mean taking it back to the way it was always run before last month. Which would be a very lame "better" proclamation by Shane, but lamer things have happened.

I don't think that would be lame at all. Making the prizes at each level unlimited would be WAY "better" than it was this month. I would be all in favor of that.

I would much rather have that than it be "improved" to 500 players received the first 5 levels instead of 400 and 150 or whatever it is now. And it is my feeling that something like that could be the improvement.

Or they could be changing it all around completely. Guess we'll find out...hopefully before Sept 1.

why are my ronin rakechase points still 0 yet my montly gaming revenue is 255.47. Also, is the monthly gaming revenue also what I track for the Lock VIP? So since im above 150 I'm a white VIP and once I get to 750 I will be a silver VIP?

Ummm if you run a promo for over 2 years (non continuously), then change it one month, then proclaim that the next month will be "better" and all you do it restore it to the previous 2 year method, that is a lame use of "better". Re-read my post. I didn't say unlimited Ronin is lame. I said a restoration and nothing more would be a lame use of "better".

But I doubt they could make unlimited Ronin "better" so they are set up to fail anyway. Unless people are so grateful to have some less limited version back. Micro/low players got screwed in August Ronin wise (and please Lord no one mention deposit bonii, I'm talking Ronin).

You got screwed in August by a change in the way Ronin was run...even though the first sentence of the first post in this August thread by Shane said "August would be run the same as before". But have no fear, Shane is now saying next month will be "better".

Yes, if you can get to 750 by end of month you will be Silver. It re-sets monthly.

Hello lads I'm new to this forum and was reading up on this promotion.. I was just looking for someone to answer a few questions before I sign up to lock poker.. How/What is best way to get rakeback on this site.. Does this effect my first deposit 'Thefuture'????

I'm not sure I would qualify for ronin because my little rake but including my rakeback and bonus how much would I receive after raking $200 and at what % rakeback total..

I know it's a bit of work for some1 but would be much appreciated.. I'm a sng/mtg player mainly and play fair bit..

$200 is just a guideline and would give me a good read as it would be the minimum I'd rake..

I think the bonus is clearing at roughly 40% rakeback equivalent. So $200 raked would be $80....just for that....not for the rakeback or VIP points which are in addition to all that. You will probably want to sign-up with an affiliate and get rakeback...because you aren't earning many points quickly enough it seems and therefore won't be benefiting very much from the VIP if you went that direction.

No, you would not get anything in Ronin right now. All the lower levels have "maxed out." But that's for August only. It all starts over in September plus they are changing it to something different but we are still waiting to learn how. you might get a few bucks at the beginning of September though. I wouldn't count on it being much more to your bottom line though. The bonus and the initial rakeback are the biggies.

Shane - Just use the correct terminology on this one when it comes out to hopefully keep everyone happy. I wasn't aware of the difference either until lady began mentioning it here. I had mostly be on PokerStars and wasn't worrying about affiliate chases and races with other sites.

A rake race is an event that is usually based over a monthly or weekly period, with a start and a finish point. The objective of a rake race is for players to generate the most rake within the promotion time.

Players are allowed to participate and compete for a (usually pre-determined) prize pool. During a rake race you can advance in position if you generate more rake than the other competitors. Therefore continuous play throughout the whole month is the key to winning the top prizes.


Rake chases also run over a specific time period, typically a month. Their main objective is to be among the first racers to reach a certain checkpoint or marker within the time limit. Checkpoints and markers are usually pre-determined by the amount of VIP points or rake needed to be collected.

The lower checkpoints are usually easy to reach and have a larger number of winners with minimal rewards. The higher the checkpoints are, we see the opposite occur: where the prizes get bigger, and the number of players receiveing a prize decreases.

Considering shane's expertise is in affiliates, im sure he knows difference between chase and race, therefore we can be confident we are seeing some form of a rake chase in september.
