The only way i call here is if i get the feel from the Insta-call on the turn is that he has two lower diamonds and was drawing. It's also possible, however, that he had a Q and picked up open ended on the turn, which brings us to the dilemna of which draw he hit, (or missed) and therefore this bet is uncallable.

Jay, I feel like even if you did an endless analysis of all the possibilities, and distrubuted his range such that bluffs constituted as much of a % of his range as you could reasonably assume, you would still end up w/ a call that was very very slightly +EV at best. And even then an argument could be made to fold to lower variance against an "optimistically" designated hand range. So yeh, I like your logic and everything but, as was the case, sometimes you can't even beat bluffs.

And if he's limp calling on the button w/ Ax, he might check behind some hands that we never would on the flop (since we would almost never limp Ax on the button w/ no other limpers in the pot, it's likely that he does some other things that we never would).

I guess great players make great calls, but I'm weak tight.

on the one hand, if he accidentally shows up with a single card between a K and a 9 somehow, you lose

there's no 'on the other hand' because, well, there kinda doesn't need to be, but in case you want one, just realize ~2/3 of his bluffs beat you
