Can anybody suggest a good place to go on my own for a week or two to just get my head straight?

I would really appreciate any/all suggestions , more then I've needed before. I am pretty much able to just pick up and go, and cost doesn't matter.

Thanks guys.
I haven't been a ton of places but Argentina was really fun and should be really nice weather wise right now. I went by myself and had a great time. PM me if you want more details.

he is the best director of all time and its not even close.

go watch dr. strangelove, or 2001, or lolita, or barry lyndon (which was shot entirely using natural light) or ****ing full metal jacket, or clockwork orange, i mean holy ****, eyes wide shut, lol.

I've been to Esca, not the other two. Would definitely recommend especially if you like seafood, I enjoyed it a lot.

Eyes Wide Shut still pretty good IMO

thanks, just wanted a random sampling...

the shelter thinks that he is yellow lab-pit bull mix. sounds like a great combo to me and i think he is awesome. he has the temperament im looking for and is only 2.5 months old.

unfortunately im adopting with my gf and she is very apprehensive about getting any sort of pit (some justifiable concerns, some not) and doesn't think this guy is as badass looking as i do. going to try to get her up to visit him tommorrow...

Just had to comment on this because this exact conversation came up with a friend of mine the other day. It's funny that everyone forgets SR wasn't really robbed of Best Picture that year, Pulp Fiction was. PF getting snubbed of everything but a win in a slam dunk category for it (Best Original Screenplay) was by far the biggest sham in recent years with regard to the Academy Awards.

thatpfunk,

I have a lab/german shepperd/pit-bull mix (looks less badass than yours though). He is like a pogo stick and is ALWAYS full of energy and ALWAYS ready to play. I hope you are ready for that.

Also, once your gf overcomes the fear of "pit bull," she'll love him

I recommend watching "The Dog Whisperer." The guy is basically the nuts when it comes to dog training.

Also have to comment on this because RBK is dead on. Whether or not you think EWS sucked, you can't base any critique of Kubrick as a director on that movie. It's really the same thing as A.I. and can't or at least shouldn't be considered a Kubrick movie, when it's more of a tribute to his filmmaking style.

You should also note that he wrote, directed and produced at least 6-7 consecutive movies that are considered cinematic classics/masterpieces.

thanks SH. Ive read two of his books, Cesar's Way (which I highly recommend, his life story is ****ing awesome) and his puppy book (actually read it twice and have it highlighted). I love Cesar, love watching TDW, and generally think he is the ****.

I have mentally prepared for a high energy dog and planned on him becoming my morning running companion. Im committed to the two walks a day, etc.

The main pit bull concerns are the reception by other people, potential house rentals or house insurance, that type of stuff. How pit-ish does your dog look and have you encountered any drawbacks or prejudice?

Also it will be the GFs first dog so she is concerned about establishing herself as a dominant presence over a more intimidating breed (as opposed to something goofy like a Lab).

Sidenote, the SouthPark when Cesar dog whispers Cartman made laugh probably more than any episode ever.

You guys set a date yet?

im not positive that guy has any pit in him. look at his head closely - nose, whiskers , shape of mouth is like 100% rot, and the coloring is shepherd/rot.

i got one of those doggy dna things for my dog but i keep forgetting to do it. will do it tomorrow and post report when i get results - ive heard mixed reviews on the testing.

Has the mod forum made any decisions yet? About stoxtrader possibly multi-accounting/shortstacking.. I'm sure it's not totally one-sided like some may have assumed, but could you give us some more info?

I'm hosting Pretty Lights to come to my college (Rhodes College) on 3/28. Tickets are $5 with all proceeds going to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I've seen them play live, and they put on some really sick concerts. If anyone is in the Memphis area around then and is interested in going, or if anyone wants to make a donation, pm me.

My dog looks very lab-ish and if I don't tell people it has pit-bull DNA, it's unlikely people knows. If you tell people, especially women, that it's part pit-bull, most will put their guard on, which then put the dog's guard on, etc so I tell people it's a lab mix.

Pit-bull are known to not listen or obey commands. Combine that with a lab's energy and you'll have your hands full. My dog is "socially awkward" in that it doesn't know how to behave like a dog so we took it for a walk with other dogs and he learns really quick on how a dog should behave. This walk is lead by an experienced trainer so the dogs are obedient. My dog knows his place and doesn't f' around too much since there's a pack leader. This is different from dog parks, where dogs run buck wild and shiets everywhere.

Regarding your gf, it was the same thing with us and it was tough (still is!). But once your gf gains more confidence by watching you, she'll come around.

Mandatory dog picture:

Probably his dad:
