Would I be wrong in pointing out that this is the moment if we were organized to bankrupt UB by boycotting them.

I have a lot of money on there however if this would possible where the games actually died (and we can table block the games that do try to run) I would gladly partake.

I don't know how wrong that is morally when the customers decide a company is evil and take a step further than boycotting by actively preventing their business from running.

Then you will want to transfer it back to the USA quickly. That looks a whole lot like money laundering. But keep us posted if you have better luck than I had.
I was speaking from experience and specifically about HSBC. I've had no problems quickly setting up accounts with them in multiple jurisdictions - though some are harder than others due to local regulations.

Putting down professional gambler is not wise though, you're going to have to lie about that if you want banks to do business with you - especially now.

i have a perfectly legit address, bank account, tax payer id in my home country, all verifiable (currently reside in the US on a green card), would it be prudent for me to change my contact information across all sites to my home country address and then try a cashout after things settle for a bit ?

or just sit tight for the moment?

FYI, pokerstars just called me saying everything is fine and that they will have all the details within a couple of days and possibly next few hours. I wouldnt panic guys.
04-16-2011 , 02:16 PM
oh yea, they said they are getting together relocation information for their US players who want to continue to play on PS and also cashout info for those who want to leave. The guy on the phone didn't know all the innerworkings or details but seemed fairly confident about the info he was giving me.

cool Roman.

what about FTP? can't even download the update...
04-16-2011 , 02:21 PM
I also got a call from pokerstars today.
04-16-2011 , 02:23 PM
I'm sure they already will but anyone that is in contact with Stars if they could post any info they could regarding cashouts and stuff as they get it that would be awesome, I have close to 6 figures online which is basically my entire net worth and I'm incredibly stressed.

Thanks for the post Roman, reassured me at least a little bit
04-16-2011 , 02:33 PM
Any of you high stakes guys manage to get in contact with ANYONE at FTP?
04-16-2011 , 02:47 PM
M reed can you confirm any of Roman's info? Would be pretty cool if Stars helped us relocate, and if they let us cash out somehow!

@whateverson and others, update is available at fulltiltpoker.co.uk, you wont be able to play though if you are in USA

+1 - worked for me as well. I just installed it over the top of my existing FT installation and it went just like an update. I can get in, look around, but no playing. All deposits/withdrawals/transfers are disabled for U.S. players as well.

Can you confirm if you've talked to anyone at FTP? I know the uncertainty of the situation (as well as the lack of information) with these sites is enabling people to buy online $ at a large discount but a lot of people on here have a very large chunk of their net worth on these sites and you're one of the few people that could shed some light on the situation via your contacts. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

post #39 here has an interesting perspective on the legal situation of the sites, the writer seems intelligent and experienced

My guess is, it would sit in your account and you wouldn't be able to cash it out. So technically it would be 'yours', but good luck spending it

same boat but I think if I disc while registered to 4k+ buyins while not being able to reconnect, I might really lose it.
