5/10 ante merkle hand vs kingsofcards 5/10 ante merkle hand vs kingsofcards

4 handed game, kingsofcards opens the CO to 35 with about 950 I cover (he and I drew two preflop). Button and small blind fold and I defend AhJh7h7x. The 7 is his merkle. I'm unsure whether having two sevens is a good thing; having two murk blockers is nice but then when I do hit 3 of a kind i leave myself wide open to get murked. I can possibly 3bet preflop (thoughts?) but folding is obviously out of the question

I call and the flop comes AxQd7d. I flopped a boat (777AA), but he gets a fifth card. I check and he bets $15. I elect to raise to $150, which I think is the pinnacle of the hand. I think its possible he will call intending to murk or rebluff. In retrospect I should consider just calling. Raising when someone is on the murk is very dangerous.

He makes it 290 and I decide to shove the rest in. I thought it was reasonable he'd be bluffing a decent chunk of the time. It's a spot where I can't call when hes on the murk-draw (If he murks me on the turn I have to match the pot and give him one of my cards). That said if I get called im prolly boned, thoughts?

Does he really expect you to CR bluff when he has a murk?

KingDan,

Read the original blog about this game. I like it, but am confused by one thing. Why would someone "sleep" their murk? What is that?

As for the hand, calling on the flop seems the smart play. Raising just leads to so many bad possibilities.

most boards in merkle are "dry" so its totally a leveling thing. i dont think he expected me to checkraise anything

edit: at the time i thought i could induce some bad floats but in retrospect floating intending to murk is legitimate

I suck at this game but run good.

I think my bet sizing sucks for value, would be good as a bluff and generally you should probably just c/c and hope to not get murked on the turn and just have a nut hand that I can barrel off into.

actually u can sleep a murk on the river with a marginal hand that is unlikely to improve and dont want to see 6th street

wat. c/c down probably. murks aren't as relevant as u and chewy seem to think...people have to hit their murk card AAND turn the murk suit.

write ftp, they should add merkle to the mixed games - stars have badugi, so what the ****?

merkle should be an online option as well as a WSOP event. it is a legitimately sick form of poker.

the wire would have been so much more legit if marlo played merkle
