I am not sure how that would work.

if you take ROFL 12 min raising Range for instance, it's 40.12% of hands. but it's made up of (very roughly!) of the top 21% and the bottom 19% of a top 70% min raising range. So we would have to take off the stuffs in the middle.

I will think it through. surely it's possible to come up with something. My gut feeling tends toward a clickable option "villain uses ROFL 12" with the ROFL12 range preimputed (and the apropriate calling range obv). For what I have seen a lot of people that have read mers's book just follow the chart blindly from 10BB to 14BB (like a cheat sheet).

But as I have mention before all the hands that are +EV to 3 bet shove vs a top 40% would be even more +EV vs ROFL12. But as Hokie said some stuffs that were not shovable vs a top 40% now are. This is were the flaw is.

The important thing I guess, in the mean time, is that the calculator is not going to indicate that you could shove hand that wouldn't be +EV if your villain used ROFL.

don't worry i have done the same quite a few times. Then OOo try to convert it and can't so it freezes.

Of course, you need a somewhat decent sample with a specific opponent, but can still be very helpful when reviewing sessions.

sorry I completely missed your post. please could you tell me what range you are talking about. if it's the "calling the shove" range the break down appears in the cell under the one where you choose what range villain will likely call your call with as shown here

if you are talking about the Pre flop raising range it's simply the top % of hands that villain is raising preflop. So if he raises 45% the range is all the combos making up that Top 45%.

Also I had about 12PM of people not being able to run it on OO. so please check that you have activex installed on your PC aparently it doesn't always install itself with OO!!

try this :

1. Close OpenOffice.org and the Quickstarter.
2. Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar. Choose Control Panel.
3. In the Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.
4. In the list, click OpenOffice.org, then click Change.
5. In the Installation Wizard, select Modify.
6. Open the Optional Components entry and find the ActiveX Control entry. Open the sub menu of the icon and select to install the feature. obv if it's already installed don't bother the problem is somewhere else
7. Click Next and Install.

Also you could have the same problem if you purchased Excel as a standalone and not as part of office. It's probably very rare but if you have done everything and it doesn't work on Excel it's probably where the pb is.

no worries. I do dumb things all the time

because of card removal. There are lots of As in villain's "calling a shove" range so if you have AA he can have less of them and therefore folds more often than if you have 32o because there aren't many 3s or 2s in his PFR and therefore he calls more often.

This is why the calculator is more accurate than some previous one

Is there a rake included in calculations? Lost coin has more value than won coin (for example: If You lost 7$ Sng HU HT You lost 7$, but if You win 7$ Sng HU HT You win 6.70$). I hope that You understand what I try to tell You

it's an EV calc for the action "what happen if I 3 bet shove", how many chips do I lose or gain on averageand therefore the rake on the whole tourney is irrelevant.

I have the same problem although I have openoffice version 3.3.

activeX is installed.

if you have updated to 3.3 or installed activeX AFTER downloading the calculator you will need to delete the file and redownload it as OO will have converted it.

bump for excellence. installed Apache Openoffice 3.4, had to do custom installation to check the ActiveX option, then set Options -> Security -> Macros to "Medium (require confirmation). All works perfectly

Maybe there are some errors in formulas. I analized the same scenario and I have the same values with my spreadsheet and the Insane-Steve calculator, but different ones with your.

For example take this hand: 14,9bb deep, we have T6o, O minraise 50.43% of hands and call a shove with {66+,A2s+,K9s+,QTs+,A5o+,KTo+,QJo} (22.62% without card removal).

So when minraise, he calls a shove 44.77% of the time and folds 55.23%.
If he calls, we have 31.09% of hands in a total pot of 14.90 * 2 = 29.80.
EV if he calls. EVC = 0.3109* 29.80 - 13.90 (we have to invest 13.90bb more) --> EVC = -4.64.

If he folds, we win 3bb.
Total Ev is then = 3 * 0.5523 + (-4.64) * 0.4477 = -0.42.

Even if we consider card removal and assume the calling range as 21.47% of total hands, total ev is still negative at -0.24.

In your spreadsheet, instead, is +0.06.

I know, it's a marginal spot in this case, but I think he can affect a lot in other spots.
