Warning: TL;DR brag thread below.
Well, I just had a pretty awesome weekend.
I was working nights on thursday and friday night, didn't get to sleep until 10am on saturday after having been awake since 12 on friday. Woke up 2 hours later because I had to play a live tournament, ca. 200+20 freezout. 75 entries, starting stacks 40k, blinds start at 50/100 and 45 minute levels. 75 entries.
Started well enough, got up to around 80k in ca. 3 hours, but was completely card dead the rest of the day. The tournament started at 1pm and we played till midnight, when there were 18 players left. At that time I had one of the shortest stack in the tournament I think, around 88k.
Had the brilliant idea to go out drinking with my buddies straight after, got seriously ****faced in my weakened tired state. That cause me to oversleep and I got to the tournament about 45 minutes too late, at which time my stack had been blinded down to 66k and the blinds were 2k/4k, 200 ante.
Cue the good run, and in about 3 hours I was sitting at the final table of nine players with 680k, and play my absolute best game, making a few plays, some very thin value bets and hero calls, until I'm headsup against a very solid reg, he has 2.2mill, I have 800k, blinds at 12k/24k. Thankfully HU is really not his strong side and eventually I took it down, collecting just over 4k in the process. The whole time shaking like a leaf, looking like ****, unshowered and reaking of booze.
The funny thing is a almost didn't go back on day 2, thinking there was zero chance of me getting ITM, and I was more hungover than I have ever been in my life. Thankfully, adrenalin is a pretty ****ing good cure for a hangover, and a couple of flips and All-ins woke me up enough to get a coherent thought into my head.
anyways.. I'm pretty ****ing ecstatic right now, and I'm especially proud of my play HU. What makes it even more fun is that I never play live tourneys, and pretty much never play MTT's at all. They tilt me like nothing else, just not my thing. But I decided to play this one since such deep tourneys are pretty rare around here, and a lot of my friends would be playing.
Now I'm gonna get some much needed sleep.
And to make up for the tl:dr report...
