i had a fishbowl (-23%roi, -19k$) drove me crazy, we played quite a few games the last couple of weeks. i was about to get crazy, really. something was not right...
finally i asked him in chat, and i found out his stats are fake, he knows a guy in a pokerroom (IPN network) who arranged this fake sharkscope stats. he plays a lot better than that...
wtf. i feel he stole my money.

Sounds strange and suspicious, imo. He's devious and ambitious enough to rig his stats and risk a serious penalty (to himself and his confederate), yet admits it to someone he's supposedly hustling for several buy-ins?

And how do you play him for several games and not notice the absence of leaks, fishiness, or whatever perceived edge you think exists in order to justify re-matching this dude?

I don't get it. Also, odds are he ran hot against you and is lying about his stats being rigged just to fark with you.

i'm not actually down many buy ins. and there's no rematch on IPN, i always sit first and he just sit me a few times. but i lost games and i made calls i would not have made knowing his stats are fake...
i don't know why he told me. i started talking to him in french because he said he doesn't understand english and he loosened up...
he was really running hot, that's why i was slow to pick that up..., but actually he wasn't making any mistake. he was betting very aggressively but was very disciplined when he had to call. also he was acting like a typical fish, showing his cards all the time...
that was very akward.

Just like the ole situation where the fishy tries to tell you he's an online pro or something along those lines.... just happened to be he's running really hot-- if he's playing aggro + running hot then he could get away with telling you pretty much anything knowing there's a better chance of you believing him. Monitor his stats for a few days and *hopefully* watch his graph go right back down the toilet.

I doubt what he said to you is really true.

As lagdonk said, probably was just lying to you.

If you really believe him you should PM me his screen name because a poker site adjusting the winnings or losses is likely a HUGE deal. Sharkscope collects tourney summaries so this "guy" he knew would of likely had to rig fake tourney results just to make a guy look like a fish. Customers of IPN would probably be interested in such actions taking place where they play.

OK then, in your OP you said 'i' which threw me off and got me confused.

I don't understand why anyone would want fake stats, your just gona get sat by good players all the time? It doesn't sound like great logic to me.

If you "semi-bumhunt" normal/fish/babysharks you could rely on the fact they think you're terrible and win accordingly.

Will 30 buy ins for the $100s on FT be enough for me. I think it obv will be but just looking for some thoughts/advice. Also, what roi can I expect at the 100s as compared to the 50s, 14% roi attainable?? Also, how hard of a transition is it? I know its been kind of up and down for Cog Dissonance who recently switched to the 100s. Thanks in advance for anyones advice, really appreciate it.

I have seen you around Brilliant and your stats are damn good. 30 buy ins should be plenty, I would think it might be rocky in the beginning if winning players are sitting with you, but you should continue to crush. I would guess that 12-15% ROI, don't think you can keep beating the 100's at a 63% rate sitting first.

Have noticed how focussed you guys in this thread are on selecting opponents. Just wondering why you EVER sit first?

I am almost exclusively a bumhunter. If you have good stats, most good players won't play you, so sitting first will allow you to get a lot of volume, and still play 80% losing players. Fish dont like to wait in a tourney, a lot of the time if they see a guy waiting they will join, from $20-$100.

imo sitting first is more ev+ unless you have a ******ed sharkscopegraph for some reason
most regs won't sit you + you get all the fish first
only sit last if you're taking shots imo

+1

Things used to be a little different, but there are too many regulars sitting first in the $110+ that it's just not worth it to bumhunt, at least on Stars, these days. Sitting first is almost surely the best form of game selection in these, at least on Stars.

ftp is more okay due to other lobby system which is way better than the lobby at stars

I guess I should kiss my days of being a winning player goodbye and embrace my transformation into a lunatic tiltbox.

Respect to all you guys that have been grinding it out for years. This game definitely isn't all roses.

Hardly anyone in the thread game selects, unless you mean sitting first.

Why would Croix pick the Ninja? Everyone knows Ninjas are all winning players?
