when he limped in i felt like a 5 was in his range.. but i called anyway.. is this a bad call for me? i really didn't have a read on the guy it was pretty early in the match.. i put my hand into thing and saw my equity was 75 percent, so i'm unsure what i should've done.

You should had bet the flop and as played, I see not much of a point in makeing a potsize bet vs an unknown villain.
The 5 is a pretty small part of his range. Of course he has 5s in his range but with this argument you never can call anything unless you have the stone cold nuts.

so am i just calling him down in this position, or folding if he raises?

that's just what i'm a little confused of. also, i know it depends but is shoving an A with a 9 kicker ok with most opponents?

Well it depends on his range. So either he is gonna bluff you with his reraise and ofc will fold if you shove or he has you beat (77, X5, Ax) or is calling with very strong FD.
