How $ev work in ht's? How $ev work in ht's?

Hi guys,

I've just played my first 60 ht's and I have winnings of $77.28, net winnings of -$12.72 and my $ev is $79.09.

I see when I read the heads up 4 rollz threads that these guys judge a winner on the $ev and I just want to find out what that is and how it's calculated.

I've only ever played cash previously and just having some trouble at the moment coming to grips with all the tournament terminology so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

ev is all in adjusted winnings, it still has a lot of variance but less than green line so people use it as better indicator of skill.

It should be calculated same as in cash games, ev adjusts your winnings according to your equity when you go all in and there are cards to come.

Ok thanks. So the figures I've included above indicate that I've run slightly under ev over 60 HT's right?

what is net winnings -12$?
if you won 77$ and ev is 79$ than you are running basically at ev

also people imo overestimate those all in situations like AT vs KT or AT vs A7, in 15$ game when you gii AT vs KT your ev goes up ~3$, when you flat pre, call cbet fold turn you almost lost everything you gained in that all in, if it happened when blinds are 15/30 than you lost even more than you gained with that all in

Ok thanks. I thought I would have been slightly under bc my $ev is positive and net winnings are negative.

can we say EV line$ has less variance for real? or is just a vague explanation of what it really means? i.e what does "red line has less variance" really mean? surely the red line will be closer to your actual ROI, but does that mean it has less variance?

Kinda wondering

ofc, where you see bigger swings in your ev line or green line?

depends on the sample of course, tho, just wanted to clarify if "closer to your true ROI" really directly means "less variance", my instinct from watching my graphs is to think it idd has less variance, i know that for a fact, but im not sure if what i mentioned firstly is correct. Probably doesnt even matter but sadly these stupid questions get in my mind from time to time

And on how many game it can be considered std for a evline to go down ? For a 3%roi winning player.

really? Losing 40 bi in ev in one session would be "superstandard" ?

Thought the question is about running 20bi under EV line. Laydyboys keeps posting those graphs that shows he is losing player so I thought he already accepted that and started asking about sth else. But I see he still believes it is only downswing. But yes, it is possible to have such a swing even when making good decisions. Saw way worse graphs of way better players.

And by the way - everyone here uses EV for sth else. Green line is not EV, so not see any reason to talk about 40-56 buy ins of ev swings.
