So how does this work once it becomes availed? Would I need some special hardware like an ebook reader or can I simply read it on the screen?

And is there any way of purchasing printed copies?

I don't think Livb was wrong to comment on "ego", nor do I think it's a bad thing. Anyone actively avoiding self-delusion knows that a lot of what people do, and a lot of why society works and cares for each other is ego. People feel good about helping others, having respect of their peers, and so on. Mers has not been ashamed to admit this many times before, and why should he? He deserves his credit, and surely if we want him to continue making useful contributions to our community we should reward these behaviors.

It might sound a bit jarring and "bad" to cite ego as a reason for helping, but I am fairly certain Livb was sincere when he said he did not mean it as an insult.

I think that Livb would not claim that he himself does not seek further social presence through TV appearances partially for reasons of ego, making a mark in history, and so on.

Curious though, Mers, you seem to imply that you also believe that the poker economy is unsustainable. Can you elaborate? Is this aimed mostly towards the online economy?

I know nothing of economics, but I had always figured that at some point the profitability of learning poker for a living will reach some sort of equilibrium where it is no longer far more profitable than other jobs, in which case some who are talented for poker (or have played a lot as amateurs) will be able to make money, but people can't just all play poker for 2-3 months and have hourlies 2-3x their previous job as I believe they can right now, so there is much lesser of an incentive for new players to become regs, and thus the reg:fish ratio will remain there.

My belief is that when it reaches that point, only players who are the most lucky, talented, and hard working will make substantial amounts of money, akin to many other career paths. Is this an accurate prediction?

And if it is, do you think this reg:fish ratio equilibrium is significantly worse than right now, or if it would take a substantial amount of time to reach? Any predictions/comments?

It will be both available to download in PDF format (Use Sumatra PDF to read it, Adobe Reader is inferior I believe) and it will also be hosted on HUSNG.com, similar to other articles we've had in the past.

Nothing required to view the articles or download the PDF.

You might also find that this book is linked in some non heads up sng places. That is one of the primary goals of the release, to help get more people interested in our game. The ability to attract players at a higher rate than other games is an essential component to why HUSNGs have improved over the years, at least in my opinion.

This. Also, husngs are zero sum, winner-take-all, simple for fish/rec. players to understand and appreciate, no complications like bb/100 rates or the intimidation they feel of large mtts or the boredom of FR or worse Limit, or more hole cards like in PLO. The very simple idea of entering a tourney, winning or losing, end of story, is very attractive to weaker players certainly, and stuff like Mers' book will only help bring more fishies, and that's all good

also i 100% agree w/crimsonchin/livb/others who take a similar statement. can obviously provide arguments but i guess most things have been said already. i dont see how you benefit from this at all, besides from getting your ass licked.
