My intention in this hand was to keep villain in the hand and not get a fold on the flop. The result didn't make me happy. What I don't like is the small turn bet, but somehow the paired queen scared me a little bit after that flop call. I really didn't expect to see a backdoor flush here. Did I misplay the hand or does the line I played make sense?
I think you should bet a little bigger on the flop. I like your turn sizing and I kinda shrug call now. I'm not too worried about the straight or flush, but I think we see a Q and random cards here. If villain has been playing very fit or fold, I think I'm ok folding here if we haven't seen him making in weird bets yet.
Check/calling the river seems backwards because now he can check back all showdown value and bet all hands (Qx, 78, etc) that beat us. Bet/folding seems much better, correct?
yeah either b/f or c/f readless otr usually imo, weird betsizings make it hard to analyze villains ranges though without having any indicaton of how he reacts to them but given that we're offering him a far better price to float and look like we're trying to get to a cheap showdown when we're near the tippity top of our range which should allow for villain to bet worse hands for value i can't see us being able to c/f( that said I would think worse hands that valuebet here 4bet pre right?). Bet flop and turn bigger to set up stacks for getting it in on the river. As played I would still b/f the river.
