Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has K 8

Hero raises to 2 BB, BB calls 1 BB

Flop: (4 BB, 2 players) A 6 K
BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: (4 BB, 2 players) 5
BB bets 2.6 BB, Hero calls 2.6 BB

River: (9.2 BB, 2 players) 4
BB bets 5.95 BB, Hero calls 5.95 BB

I think checking back this flop might be a mistake, as Villain seemed to be on the passive side (only a few hands). As played, should I have folded on the river? I block the only straight Villain could have, but I'm not sure if this player is able to barrel off missed draws. He can still have Ax at this stack depth, and he can have a lot of 2pair.

Passive players have a lot more ax in their range, so i really like the x/b on the flop. Think we can/should? also x/b readless here but not sure.
As played feels like a tough hero fold to make as we are like top of our flop x/b range. But like you said, passive player is like never bluffing here.
Played a bit with equilab and looks like he has to bluff busted draws roughly between 60% and 100% depending on his ax for us to be correct to call.
Looks like i should be more open to folding here myself

To me it seems like checking back the flop and betting 1/2 pot are both fine. A passive player is going to have more Ax than 6x in his range, but he's also going to have flush draws and JT which we get value from, he's going to have better Kx and weaker Kx sometimes. In my opinion there's 1 or 2 streets of value we can get and whether we do it by betting betting flop & turn or turn & river is not a huge difference. In either case I'd be betting 1/2p first and then pretty small like 1/3 pot.

Also, as played I'm folding the river against a passive player.

this doesnt really make any sense. You are not hurt by him being more less agro on this board.

I think it is a good check. You can't bet for 3 streets value. You don't need any protection with the Kx. Considering this hand in a vacuum and not your range, it is an obvious xbb or xc decide spot.

The river fold is clear if he is passive. This a bad runout for bluffs too, as your 3rd pair hands dont get worse by the turn and river cards.
