you said "clubs missed", but why is that a reason to bluff the river. if he has a random club, he will fold, but your pair has him beat anyway. also as clubs missed he is more likely to call you lighter expecting you to have a missed club draw yourself.

out of interest, would you be shoving the river for value or betting small?

Turn and river are basically brick. He won't be folding any Kx or even some 9x if you ask me.

I would check on the flop, it will be awkward if we get raised.

Yeah i don't see why you're leading the flop. vs any reasonable raise/get it in range we're not going to be doing well with bottom pair and a medium FD. Just check the flop and proceed.
