My name is Kurt and I'm looking for backing for a small World Series package. First, about me:

I've been a professional poker player in the US for a year and a half now. I play mostly small-stakes cash games. I was a long-term winner at 100NL online until Black Friday, and regular winner in live cash games in the Bay Area. I don't play tournaments except during WSOP season, but I'm good at poker and my small-sample results have been good, including a 7th place finish in Event 8 last year.



I've been around on 2+2 forever and I'm happy to provide numerous references, both for my trustowrthyness and quality of play. I'll be charging 16.67% markup which I think leaves a healthy proifit margin for my backers. This is a solid investment.

I've made over $40,000 in payouts to my previous backers so you can rest assured your money is safe. If I cash US backers will need to fill out certain forms for tax purposes. I will make frequent updates via twitter, plus updates for each event via 2+2 thread or email. If I miss an event for any reason (I shouldn't), that event will be removed from the package and that portion of the backing returned to all invesotrs in full. All backers will get my contact info. As an American I can't accept online money, so this is cash only. If you are not known to me or within the 2+2 commnity be prepared to share references to book action. In the event I score big and make a ME run, current backers will have first dips on a ME package.

That makes $6000 total * 1.1667 = $7000, or $70 per 1%.

I'm looking to sell 50%.


Before I start booking action I want to keep this an interest list. As such I'm looking for pieces of 5% or up. If I can move 30-40% in 5 or 10% increments I'll open it up to smaller pieces to move the rest.


So $350 for 5%, $700 for 10%. Who's in?

(I had a piece of of Kurt's cash last year. Kurt handled everything about the transaction in a completely professional manner. The initial transfer of my funds to him, his record keeping of shares sold, his prompt handling of the tax issues when he cashed was all done very, very well, and I had my tax form from him this year in plenty of time to do my taxes correctly.

You won't find a more trustworthy person to back.

BTW, Kurt didn't ask me to post this and didn't know I was doing so; I just saw this thread and wanted to help him out with a public reference.)

2 questions Kurt...

I'm based in the UK, so don't pay any tax on gambling winnings. If I back you and you win, do you pay your tax before my share gets to me, or do I get my whole share?

You say you can't accept online transfers, but I assume that just means via poker sites. What about Paypal, Neteller, direct bank transfer etc?

You get the whole share. As a non-American the only thing I would need from you is a receipt upon payment for my records. Email is fine.

For any Americans wondering, you get the whole share also, but I'll need IRS form W9 (basically your SSN), and paying taxes on it is your responsibility. I will issue a 1099.

5% pending payment work out. I won't be in Vegas at that time, and I don't think my trip to Tunisia is enough to get Stars to let me xfer while I'm there. I can non-poker xfers, etc. Not to comfortable sending cash through the USPS, but I could even do an old fashioned paper check...

i'm a n00b at staking, so someone check my math:

if Kurt (gets unlucky and) only cashes in 1 of the 4 events, and let's say he cashes $30,000, then my return on the 3% share (which $210 worth) would be:

(30,000/7000)*$210 = $900 total (for a $690 profit)

yeah that math is correct and cashing 1/4 for $30k would definitely not be an 'unlucky' scenario. The better way to do it is just take 3% of his total winnings (30k) = $900. No need for this part:

Your math is correct. The easy way to think about it is, if my total cash for the package is $30,000 you get 3%. $30k * .03 = $900 payout.


Also, I am currently setting up a PayPal account. Hopefully that will facilitate some smaller xfers and folks overseas and whatnot. As I'm sure everyone is aware PayPal transfers are easy to reverse, so this option will only be open to people who I know or people with rocksolid 2+2 references.

for my own knowledge, can someone elaborate on this? i use paypal to xfer money to all sorts of people i don't know in non-poker related transactions, and i didn't know about this.
