I was thinking about heading to LA to play some small events (like the 6max limit event) this year and check out the regular cash games for maybe a week or so. I am primarily a 6max online player mostly playing 30/60 - 100/200. I assume most posters in here are going to be there during this time so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the games will probably be like? Also what's a good way to get money over there? I'm from Canada and bringing more than 10k could potentially be a hassle with customs.

if ur gonna play 1/2 and lower the games are going to be worse this time of year than the rest of the year, lots of pros coming into town, you are better off with the locals

big games will be bigger and beter and will run every day, often be very hard to get into with people playing drunken marathons, the whole casino just gets into a gambling frenzy this time of year, theres nothing else like it in the world of limit holdem

Thanks for this thread pokerjeebus, as I had this exact same question.

Newhizzle, do 200+ games run all the time during LAPC or just sporadically?

they often wont break for a week and will rarely stay at 200

as of like a week or two ago, commerce was as dead as its been in while, and was that way for the last few months, with 150/3 or 2/4 being the "big" game, and not even running every day, the standard at commerce used to be solid 4/8 or 5/10 and like 2 or 3 1/2s every day during the rest of the year, but economy is bad people are hurt, was expecting a possibly bad lapc, but as soon as it started first day we got a 4/8 going with all the animals playing 30+hours, can always trust the lapc to bring out the animals, i only expect things to get better

a few years ago, games would start at 4/8 and within a couple days be 1k/2k, but i dont see that happening very often this year, probably expect a lot of 3/6 and 4/8 action, maybe an occasional 5/10 or 6/12, but games should definately be consistant and probably start at 2/4 or 3/6, expect long waitlists

this year i plan to be an objector, rather than my standard job as a a pressurer, but well see how long that lasts lol

its that time of year again, the animals are out of the cages, time to order some cristal, lock the doors and kick it up!!!

For some reason NAPT is having their Venetian main event right around when the LAPC 10k is starting. I don't get that.

Commerce sounds cool and I'd like to play a bunch of events plus 200+ LHE if possible, is there any way someone would be interested in trading a big sum of cash for Stars money? Somewhere in the 40-60k range. I don't know if my bank will be happy with seeing a big wire from overseas and I barely have enough cash to play live 30/60

Anyway anybody PM me if interested.

I find it cute that pokerbob's ego is so inflated that he's actively trying to recruit winning online players to play in his games, whereas any other winning live player would never want to risk seeing their games infected with winning online players as opposed to the typical motley crew of semi-fish regs and total fish degens that only play live.

Yo Pbob, you have any use for Stars money? Saying yes would result in one more online balla in your games ...

Not sure if you've heard, Elo, but there's a level of poker thinking that exceeds anything any online player is capable of.

I'll be at Commerce Feb 10-18.

I'm getting into a business venture (non poker, will say more about it later), and had to put a bunch of $ into my parent's house, so basically my br is taking a 80-90k hit from outside expenses.

This, coupled with maintaining rolls on the 3 major sites means I will be a bit short on cash to play the bigger games, which are the games I'd ideally want to play in. If anyone wants a sweet horse let me know - I'll still have some of the $ to put up and I game select good.

hahahaha, I second that

For god's sake elo, just wire it. If it takes a few days or a week or whatever to get to your bank or to get approved by your bank, just don't fly out that day and sit in front of your computer like every other day. That would be terrible, right? You're supernova and approved for special games. Stars will accommodate you if you need to wire 5 or 6 figures back to them.

No one ever wants online money in feb and june.
01-26-2010 , 05:34 PM
How does wiring money to the casino work? I'm from canada so I will probably have to do that if i go but i've never done it before.
01-26-2010 , 07:55 PM

dear mr holmes: that 1/2 game sucked ass so i went home. i hope you guys enjoyed my $150 from the 1 round i played. normally seeing a guy somehow have k2hh on 884r7hXh would be enough reason for me to stay but that asian girl laura or whatever is too god damn annoying and i was already on tilt from being in a super juicy short game to a super nitty full game with all the random foldstations that always show up this time of year to play omaha.
