when you capped you gave him odds to call down. he's gettin 6 to 1 on the turn with 9 outs... obv can't fold. and on the river he beats 66-44, 22, JTs, T9s, J9s, all of which you probably play this way since you're bad enough to cap 66 preflop. since you're bad enough to bluff against ace high you probably don't valuebet ace high so he has an easy river call. basically you're up against a far better opponent and should probably drop down to 3/6 or whatever stake you can actually beat.

This topic, play in 4bet pots in hu lhe, is actually quite complex and interesting. But the short answer is that he thought your range could be WIDE pf+flop, and that you might 3barrel w/ some missed draws enough of the time for his call to be +EV.


That's not always true. Sometimes starting with a call will induce more action from worse hands.


If you're betting the river as a bluff, what worse hands are you expecting to fold out that villain is taking this line with?

This seems like similar logic to people who c/r their flushdraws on the flop and so always call the turn also when 3bet because they are getting odds. Creating your own correct odds with poor play doesn't justify the poor play.

Wrong. If you posted this in Medium Stakes it would be locked so fast it would make your head spin. You should actually be thanking the mods here for cutting you a little slack even though you posted a woes is me bad beat hand that has no strategic value.
