Anyone actually move? How easy was it and whats the actual process?

if any of you do move to st.kitts or niagara pm me. i live in st.kitts and we could get some live games going if interested, have a small group that plays live.

I dont think I am able to receive pms on here. I have been in contact with weasel girl over the last month as we are trying to get a place in Canada. As she mentioned it is very hard to find a house/apt etc willing to do a 6 month lease. So I started just looking into rooms in college houses because I need to be heading up there asap. I have been looking at everything from Windsor to London to Niagara area. Most college housing have 8 month leases. For me I plan on overstaying a month or so, or just getting a Visa after being there a couple months. If anyone is not comfortable staying the full 8 months, most of the rooms dont come out to be substantially more (taking 8mos * mo rate / 6months).

I was pretty set on just getting myself one room and being done with it, but I found a house that looks pretty sweet, and Id prefer to still get a poker house going. Its set up with an 8 month lease at $425/mo. 1800 sq ft, 2 full kitchens, 5 bedrooms, 2 full baths, free laundry, includes utilities cable tv wireless internet, and has a garage. It says available aug 1 (altho with enough interest I could see if theyd rent as of Aug 15 to give people more time) its in thorold, which is just south of st catherines, west of niagara, and minutes for Brock U. It also comes semi furnished.. lots of couches/table shelves. It looks like bedrooms are to be furnished on their own tho...

I also talked to the owner, just inquiring about renting one room, and he said he prefered to rent to 5 people at once, so all rooms were available.

I was planning on making the trip overnight tonite, but havent got enough places lined up. I will likely be leaving tomorrow nite to look at places on Wed and maybe thursday. If anyone thinks they might be interested in this house, and are available to move Aug 1 or 15th, please contact me asap.

I have seen pictures... I am going to make the trip up this week to actually look at it.. 1 bedroom places are my back up plan if for some reason this place doesnt look the best... I want to get a few more 1beds lined up before making the 10 hour drive over...

I'm coming to Windsor next Tuesday 8/9. I have a place of residence set up but looking to reach out and see what else is available. I am a successful tournament player with very respectable results through the 3 years I have been a professional.
My best games have always been Multi Table sng's and can provide valuable coaching to anyone I befriend. I feel like I have a lot to offer to any poker mind and/or house.
My plan is to be living in Windsor through 2011 (with frequent short trips back home) and re-evaluate at the end of the year. I have gotten much more profitable at cash post BF and am also excited to check out the Windsor/Detroit casinos.
I'm an athlete, non-smoker, social drinker, 420 friendly that has a wide ranging circle of friends back home so I feel like we would get along under 99.9% of scenarios.

Does this city have any nice areas of apts/condos to get a furnished 1-2 br rental? Can't really find anything worth looking at online besides vacation rentals that run like $200+ a day ha. I'm already here now and would like to get a place here or St. Catharines for the location close to the U.S. and live poker, but might have to head up to Toronto if I can't find what I am looking for here. Thanks for any help.

Holdem1588... you should check out thorold.. specifically confederation heights.. its close to a college, i forget the name of the top of my head.. lots of decent affordable housing in that area and you are close to niagara and st catherines...

If your net worth is at least $100,000 you can apply to become a permanent residence through Quebec's self-employment program. Sadly, the entire process takes about 1.5 years and $2,000 in fees:-( In time that the application is being processed you and commute back and forth (that is what I am doing), or get a student visa. There is a minimum number of posts that you have to have made before you can PM people (or before they can PM you). I am not sure what the number is, but I saw someone with 70 posts that is still unable to PM...so you will have to do all of your communication through threads for a while.

Does anyone know if fallsview spreads any PLO now?

to the rest of those interested I WILL be starting a poker house in canada. The problem is the date is not certain yet. It could be oct 1, nov 1 or dec 1.

The city is variable as i continue to search for good live PLO games.

PLO players preferred. Rent will be 600-800 range each and you will need to sign a 3 month lease. (or if you want 1 month, have a replacement thats approved by the other members in the house ready beforehand)

Cities being considered are Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. (vancouver will most certainly be 1000/month each its very expensive)

I have seen PLO there on Saturday (I think it was 5-5) but never on any other day. Also, the lists are always huge, particularly on Saturday.
