So far my poker story is pretty basic and not that interesting really, cliffs;

2014
Started playing recreationally (live and online micro's)

August 2016
Decided to go fulltime

Januari 2017
Got into a CFP deal (bluffthespot.com)


Results since ~august 2016 (around 70% 50NLz Stars, rest 50NL/100NL euro site)


My main goal for this thread is for my coaches to keep track of my results and hopefully to speed up my progression as a player by being fully transparant during the grind and giving them (and others) an insight on both my mental as my technical flaws in my analyses.

I'll be starting at 100nl and aim to play ~50k hands/month, mainly on the fastforward tables at Party.

Started off this thread with a quote I read somewhere (I believe it's from Seneca) around the time I started to play this game alot. Reminding myself to keep working, for when the opportunity arises I'll be ready!

First day was not good, but got me convinced to start this. So might have been just what I needed

Day 1: -$328

Marked hands + my thoughts:



Kind of quickly mashed 33% due to timebank so flop sizing might have been a mistake, we'll have way more nutted combo's than villain but overall CO shouldn't have too much trouble defending here.

Everything std until turn, I think (no history/reads on anyone yet btw).
Turn card seems to be a pretty bad one for OOP, since it's really easy for him to be overbluffing now when his valuecombo's gets reduced a significant amount. Unless he's raising merged on the flop which I don't see the pool doing very often. Also turnsizing doesn't really make sense to me, I think his betting range is very polar here.
River sizing looks super fishy. To me this looks like he's trying to get away with a cheap bluff to get me off some XdXd/78s combo's, and I just can't see what hands he's depolarizing with here (I guess Q8 )
I'm gonna let readers decide whether it's a good call or not.

Flop could probably go either way, decided to bet this particular combo although I'm not really sure how often people x/f here.
River might seems ridiculous but I just don't see bluffs here. He has to x/c flop with 2 random overcards -instead of cbetting- to have bluffs here.

Seems like a really good combo to bluff river with. Think OOP can have lots of Kx he's still betting with and I don't think this pool is gonna defend enough of those.

Not really sure how I feel about this hand. To me it looks like a hand I just have to be felting here, but I also think people just don't bluff this runout ever when it looks like an obvious spot for me to herocall. Like to hear some thoughts on this!

Unsure about turn and river. OOP has lots of giveups so this combo might be a check ott?

Lots of donations, didn't really think I actually played all that well in particular. Stats look awfully nitty/weak. Could be samplesize, we'll see where it goes.

This might have been spew of the century... Tho I don't think this was gonna be a very profitable call and we have lots of better hands in our range than any random Tx OOP could have in this spot. Blocking AT and random AdXd combo's (just in case) seemed appealing.




I know this is terrible in theory. However villain hadn't been playing many hands yet + 3.5x UTG didn't fit the regular-type so couldn't find a bluffing range here.




Think TT has to be a fold in theory blocking lots of SD's and few FD's. Probably should call A9/K9, although I'd probably still fold. I also have Jx+ still; JT/QJ/55. Not sure if his overbet makes a lot of sense if he wants to be all Jx here?




Pretty weird hand. Didn't want to bloat pot when there could be zillion bad turn cards so decided to just peel. River I guess no one bluffs here, I just couldn't believe someone plays a nutted hand like this. Didn't raise flop, didn't stab turn, didn't raise turn...

Karma for trying to lock up a win?
Honestly quite a challenge for me to deal with this because these daily swings are the main reason I think I struggle getting in some good volume.

During second session I got into lots of 3bet/4bet pots with 2nd tier hands and lost like 90% of those, so apart from 1 hand QQvAA pre I didn't really lose too many big pots, just lots of medium sized pots.

Marked hands and thoughts:



I see a lot of players that can't help themselves when facing a 1/3 and almost always raise with hands that have 8+ outs or even gutshots. So esp. on this flop I think people have way more bluffs than value (not sure how often AK gets raised here tho). So call ott probably less std. was based on the fact that I think there's a lot of cards where I'm gonna generate EV vs giveups. I think river sizing makes no sense whatsoever and is purely designed to get me off anything but Kx. If he has AK+ he's either gonna check/jam or bet huge.



Was totally confused on the river and the only thing running through my mind in the 10 seconds I had (damn u Party!) was that people just rarely bluff this way, but this guy was running pretty wild stats so idk.



I think river is a mustbet, wasn't sure about sizing tho. Do we just bet exploitatively thinking he's probably gonna fold anything but a diamond? Or am I only betting Jd/Ad here so we should bet more polarized?



No idea what's going on here, I'm a nit in these spots, don't like to have 0% when we're wrong.



Again, no idea what's going on here. At this point I was getting a little frustrated, not only for losing the hand but also with myself for not really having a plan in mind in this spot with AQ which is pretty much best bluffcatcher I can have here in terms of blockers.




Protected by 6x, 4x, so easy fold I guess.

Lots of unsure spots and I can't get them out of my mind in a session like this up to the point I just have to quit when my confidence hits rock-bottom.

Day 4: -238

Again not the best of days in terms of results, AIev was even worse (around -4bi's).
However, it's been a long time since I felt like my technical game improved, today I did so. I can honestly say I feel like I'm in great hands with this program and am excited for my next coaching session!

Maybe turn is a fold already? I guess it's kind of hard to find enough bluffs here, although we're pretty high up in our range and he doesn't really have too many valuehands either.




Think it's kind of a neutral board (?) this deep. I might 4bet QQ/AK sometimes and he probably flats his QQ+/AK sometimes as well. I can have some Kx here as a 4betbluff (KQo/KJo). I'd probably check range ott as well.



Close to 0% showdown value, huge amount of 2p+ combo's that are almost never beat.




Kind of an embarrassing hand. Vs some reg, had been running sick x/r stats (10/30), so no idea whats going on there. He also folded 70% vs 3bets so didnt think he was gonna have sets/2pairs alot here...



Not sure if we should bet river here or not? What are we even betting for value here? Nh by villain, I think shoving makes a lot of sense here

Thought about shoving turn, cause I could do that with some semibluffs as well. But I thought our hand isn't that vulnerable, really. Maybe that's ok with a set?



Think with this sizing he's not betting anything less than 7x, because I could have some random 7x as well. And besides 77 all of the 7x combo's are suited, most of them are blocked by the board and some of them are questionable pre. Also he simply gets here with so much air and it's just a card that's gonna be looking pretty good to bluff on.

T8 - the board is not great for BB he should do checking with overpairs on turn and we shouldnt worry making them fold, that being said I wouldnt mind jamming turn.

K5 - great river play. Why 3-bet post its perfect call and doesnt make sense in 3-b range vs. Anyone basically.

I agree, but I thought that he's also very likely underbluffing in this spot so it's not so much as to make him fold but more to make sure we get a call from his valuehands.

Day 5: -266


Yup, can't really catch a break. Overall pretty happy about how I was playing except for 2 hands which unfortunately turned out to be pretty big pots as well.

Still, I've never been more confident about where my game is heading, which is a pretty big deal for someone with a weak-ass mental game at -9EVbb/100 over 10k hands so far.

So this is pretty bad. I'll have KQ/AQ here myself was a little too married to the fact that we block AQ way more significantly than we block Ac.




Don't see any bluffs.



Our range is fully intact on the turn, we can have straights, sets, two pairs whereas CO's top of his range are only 4 combo's of QQ and QJss. We don't have too many natural non-paired bluffs.




One of the better bluffcatchers I can have here I think. Unblocking XhXh or turned straightdraw combo's. We also are pretty high up in our range, I don't really have any 2pair+ here or that many Ax (maybe I should, not sure). Villain also doesn't really have too many 2p+ combo's imo but get's to the river with a lot of missed bluffcombo's I think. He could have been merging with A5/A3 on the river tho.

W/ the last hand:

You can have AQhh/AKhh/A2hh(?)/JJ/4x4h(?)/A6/64s etc

^ any of those hands could c-bet so depends on your strat. But I'd imagine having a 6 or 2 is better than a J tbh

You're right about AQhh/AKhh/JJ/64s and 44 sometimes. I usually cbet the Ax 2nd/3rd pair combos for balance purposes. But yeah definitely less capped than I said I was, thanks for pointing out

Why do you think so, just because of the sets? I mean I could see a hand like 65 being much better than J9 but then again 67 seems so much worse

After a pretty horrific start I couldn't really find the motivation to post here. Posting about losing sessions isn't that much fun (who'd have thought?!)

Anyway, now 2 weeks in and I'm starting to get really comfortable in the pool.
As as a result of all the support I'm getting from the program every day I'm starting to feel like I'm a better poker player than the day before! Which is a much better feeling than just running good for a day tbh


Pretty intense session today where I started off up 6bi's after 300 hands and had to quit because mindset got slightly careless. Then lost 9bi's back in a 2k sample. And finally won 3bi back in 700 hands to end the day up 5$

Kind of lost in this hand tbh. I mean I guess he could have AQ but he didn't seem like the kind of guy to x/r flop with those hands. Either way I don't expect a lot of bluffs on this river.



At first glance turn bet looked kind of scary, but this isn't really a stellar card for his range and I think he only has a handful of valuebets here with our Qx blocker.

Won 2 buyins yesterday in a very short session, lost 3 back today.

Felt kind of hesitant to post a graph from so far here, but I guess this is part of the process of moving up so w/e, enjoy ;




4% less WSD%, not sure what to make of this...

Winrates by position before and after;


Somehow managed to up my winrates in both the blinds even though my overall winrate is 10bb/100 less than before. Could be the result of working on BB defends and SB steals.

Another -3.5bi. New low point on the graph.

Total meltdown of a session. Quit before it could cause more damage. I noticed a complete disregard/distrust of my entire thought process at the end. Which is not unexpected when everything you've done so far turns out bad anyway.
