Played around 750 hands today, +$200, although made a couple of big mistakes unfortunately.

100nl.

I played a couple hours the other day and broke even. Got 2 outted once, and lots of my Ooverpair hands lost. Should have folded several times vs. fish but didn't. Kind of hard making folds vs. fish sometimes because they can just have anything.

Hate those sessions where fish just have it everytime. Your calls are +EV long term but that specific session they have it like 8/8 times.

My volume is worse than yours atm. No urge to play. Grinded 120 zoom hands for 30BB profit today but just left because I was that bored. Guess I'll give it a few weeks, the urge has come back before.
03-11-2016 , 09:18 PM
The urge isn't there when you don't have time. If you're busy as crap, you don't even think about poker. Then you go days and weeks without playing. And you're ok with it, because you have other things that occupy your time. But then one time you think about it, then you feel gross because of the non volume you've put in, so you make yourself play but you can't do it. You get bored, because you've become used to your busy lifestyle and, what, you're just playing online cards?

IMO, if you're busy and happy, poker may not have a spot in your life other than the reason for an occasional boys night. Just like video games and board games. Something to think about.

Played a bit before leaving for work today. -$300 or so. Man, I am just playing awful lately. Made a bad bluff and bad call. Obv. shouldnt be -$300, but getting annoyed at myself for playing so suboptimally. Before I was making around 1-3 mistake/1000 hands, and lately it's been like 1-3/100,

I got today and tomorrow off. Going to try and play a solid 1.5 hours of 4-tabling 100nl and play A-game and take a break after.
03-14-2016 , 10:38 PM
Played 1 hour, 4 tables of 100nl reg. A- game, thought I played well. Pretty annoying run outs where I kept getting the best-worst card, the card that improves my hand enough to where it's great, but puts me in annoying spots where I often have to fold or unhappily call. Down 150 bb first session of the night.

Some hands below, sorry for super annoying format/unconverted.

Like third hand of the night. I didn't bet turn cause I didn't see any need to. River is annoying AP, but not too worried. Nice runner runner bro, wp.

Here I called pre because I was slightly deeper with PFR and there was a big fish in BB. I decided to raise flop and thought turn was great for my range. Turn should get him to fold a lot of his KX hands and even AA. After that I don't think I can get enough folds OTR so I just gave up. Always nice to scoop the random pot vs AJ/AQ with only a club too.

Same fishy guy as mentioned above I think. I decided to go ahead and raise turn to get more value from flush and straight draws and even 8x and 99 that he may be checking behind with a lot otr. When the river came I was deciding whether I wanted to jam or not because I really only lose vs a few combos, but pussied out and decided to check. Obviously a jam would be thin, but fish gunna fish.

This hand was pretty annoying. I can't fold pre, flop or really turn. But wow that river is gross. I clicked my time bank, but unfortunately bovada going to bovada and my time bank didn't work. I think fold is best, but the guy took a while to make his decision too so not really 100% sure.

Watched another guy play for a while and then spent about an hour going through all the hands I had played today with two other guys. They then sweated me for a few hours. I played 100nl reg tables for around 1000 hands or so. Ended up winning $444.41 so ended up with around $90 in profit for the day.

Nice man, I haven't played in 2+ weeks.
03-16-2016 , 06:57 AM
Pretty boring/dry session. Got in like 1500 hands or something today, so good volume. Ended down a bit over 1 bi, but honestly pretty happy with result. Lots and lots and lots of awful spots today where I kept getting min raised where I had just enough odds/implied odds to call and pull up short all too frequently.

One of the last hands I played was pretty spewy all in on a flop in a 4bp with gutter and FD, ended up binking river to win it, but when I shipped I didn't realize how deep we were. In either case, was pretty bad and worst hand of my session despite being the hand that won me the most.

Now my weekend is over... and back to work I go.

Stream sniped a super regfish that was sunrunning like crazy and playing 400 and 600nl. So jumped in and played outside my roll, #degen. Guy ran up over +$3k in profits today and was seriously super bad regfish live player.

Ended up down for the day like another 200 or something, but so annoyed. Couple coolers, and at the end of the session gii pre vs 4b jam w/ AA vs AK, win (book +$600), but prev hand 3b a massive fish, flop comes 984, i c-bet and he jams somewhat short, i snap, he has 74 and turns a 7 and talks **** in chat. So tilting.

The summary of my day is basically like x/f and c-bet spots that really aren't that great. Get jammed on with 2p in possible bluffing spots and hate life. Some serious voluem tho, like 2k hands.

Thoroughly becoming annoyed with how I'm running. Played well another 500 hand session. Bluffs were hero called (like, wtf you called with that? kind of hero calls), value hands either got mostly folds or got raised and turn into bluff catchers--->bluff catchers got owned, but did have a couple nice pots.

-190 or so.

Here is one my last hands,
At this depth, approaching 200bb and vs. a meh looking reg I start to make my 3bs here more and more linear. My range that gets to river is like AK/AQ/AJ/KQ/KJs/QJs/TT ish and won't always ship river w/ something like KQ/KJ which are my main bluffs.

My value range would be 9 combos of AK, 4 combos of QJs, and 3 combos of TT for 16 combos. I might occasionally have stuff like ATs/A6s/A3s too, but not often. Bluff range consists of the KQ and KJs combos for a total of 15 possible bluffs, but also don't always 3b those pre either. So on the river I pry have something like 10 possible bluffs and pry only shoving with them 2/3 of the time or something for like 7 combos. Ends up coming out to be pretty balanced spot for me if I never check any of my strong value hands otr (and I usually wouldn't) but guy just snaps me off with A2 instantly. Dang bro, well played, too bad all I seem to be getting these days is bluffing spots that get snapped or raised (lol). Would have liked to stay at the table because he's obv. calling too much, but just kinda getting irritated and needed a break.

/end rant, will get back to grind after short break

Sorry to hear about everything that's going on mate, though I bet you're sick of hearing that by now. I went through a similar thing, my dad had a hemorrhagic stroke at work and was in hospital for a long time. I wasn't that affected by it which actually worried me more because I felt bad, especially with everyone treating me more 'softly'.

Not only that I worked at a job I despised, at a local pub, full of c***s. Hated my coworkers, the customers. Did all the work, got no recognition and was constantly threatened and harrassed by scummy people for minimum wage. Worked almost every day, often from 3pm to 2am. Saw people get bottled, run over, car crashes, fights, the lot.

On top of all this I was having trouble with my friend group (got with my mate's girlfriend), hated the choice I made with my education, my band broke up, was running horribly at poker and had a lot of crazy parties/camping/holidays involving a range of drugs. When my dad finally got the okay to come home my family was completely changed, he was unable to work and my mum literally had to do everything.

A lot was going on and it really changed who I am. Everything bad happened at once, whether it was my fault, other people's or just pure chance. The thing that affected me worst was my job though. There's something about spending so much of your time somewhere, being around people who have no desirable qualities for that long rubs off on you. Plus at the end of the day it's your choice to be there, whereas almost everything else is beyond your control, and eventually changes you for the better. I was there for two years before I left and I wish I had done it before, the pennies I earnt were not worth the two years I had to live like that.

What helped me the most was just taking a break from everything and having a long think. I hated it because I don't like doing nothing with myself, it feels like a waste of time but it's really not. Obviously I don't know all the details of your life and whether you even need or want to read all this, but I felt like I'd been through a similar thing so if it's any help my experience is there.
03-19-2016 , 06:49 AM
It's pretty similar tbh. So I can relate and definitely appreciate your post. It's kind of annoying when I come home to talk to gf or come here to post or just talk to someone because it is very difficult not to just complain about what's going on. I was in the process of writing a big TL DR of complaints just now but erased it all. My job isn't great, but it is what it is and it's just going to be a stepping stone for me. If I can do this for 2 years, I can doanything and I can do anything, I know I can. I love my girlfriend a bunch and staying at this job so I can be able to stay close/be with her is way more important to me than dreading going to work. The people at my job honestly look up to me a bit I think. I think I've garnered their respect, at least most of them. That in and of itself is rather satisfying.

Poker is a hobby for me, it always will be. Losing $100-$2000 or whatever it may be in a poker night is just "big blinds" to me. I don't even think about it in terms of $. I just want to become better and be able to get into the coaching a bit more as I find that much more enjoyable than "the grind".

Hope all is well, Holyherb. Keep trudging buddy!
03-19-2016 , 05:05 PM
Good to see man. Hopefully that job doesn't kill you.

Played 1 table of reg 100nl, 1 table of 9-max 100nl and two tables of 25nlz

Lost about .5bi between the two 100nl, and about 8bi at 25nlz (lol). Had guy sweating me entire time, he agreed I was running stupid bad. Like, 25nlz was painfully bad because people were making such massive mistakes and I was getting owned. 100nl was just slow af and wasn't really going anywhere. Double barrel some draws/call some draws and just not hit and have to fold. Was playing the 25nlz just because I wanted some quick action and try and book a winning session, but nope. 25nl pwned me pretty hard. Overall thought I played "ok". Maybe like B game or something. Made one or two calls where I was just like "**** it I'm not folding again" just to lose to some short stacker or whatever. Probably should have toned down a couple of my river barrels but overall was pretty "meh-solid".

Hand sums up day pretty well. I literally said, "thanks for the free money" when this guy shipped it pre. Ahhhh, definitely spoke too soon. No redraws either... quads I guess... there's always quads... Quit shortly after this because I was just like, "wow, the poker gods have definitely doom switched me" lol. Will grind again in a couple days.

Should be noted I played another session yesterday and didn't update here. Lost a couple hands and then decided to play 25nlz and 5nlz and kinda spewed for about 500 hands. After losing I decided losing wasn't fun anymore (I was playing like 60/40/20) and then tried to win before also getting a couple awful run outs, losing a little bit more, and just giving up. Lol.
03-21-2016 , 08:46 AM
Is this your biggest downswing? The runbad seems pretty soul-crushing when I read your posts.
03-21-2016 , 10:20 AM
no it's not. I actually haven't lost a lot of money. It's just all the bad beats/suck outs/run below EV that's been getting me. My mental game isn't as great as it use to be with the added stress of other things. No biggy though, just grinding 25nlz instead :P

Played some 25nlz again today made like 7 bi or something. Didn't run like crap, didn't run "super" well either, just had a few donations.
03-21-2016 , 10:28 AM
The worst I've ever ran was probably running nearly 20bi below EV when I shot took 50nl in about 5-6k hands. Obviously couldn't continue playing A-game so spewed a bit and ended up having to take a break, but I quite literally lost every single flip and river there was during this time and it drove me absolutely nuts.

Right now on the year I'm a bit over $1300 under EV, but have also been lacking volume and quality play. EV wise I'm up a couple hundred, so on the year I'm down about a grand, but despite the bad luck had I been playing A game entire time I'd likely be up a few grand. So, definitely can't blame everything on the run bad.

Below is my 50nlz graph. Sooooooooooooo bad run. That's when I switched to regular tables. Now every time I play zoom I swear I run bad and am cursed (obviously not really, but have had bad results at zone since then)
