Not a fan of the T8cc and 99 hands. Can you talk those through?

Played another session for 1.3k hands. Played bad, not tilted but wasn't focused. This BE stretch is somewhat getting to me I think and affecting my play a bit.

Also note, when I get tons of hands where villains outflop me and/or I get cooler'd a lot I tend to get a bit tilted and take my hands further than I normally would, or station down villains when my gut tells me I should be folding. These are my thoughts while I was playing those hands.

T8cc hand:
I have history with UTG, it's the same villain that shoved the As4c on that one hand u commented on, and in the same post, the QT hand that he fold when I shoved turn on him. Was the first time I ever saw him do a probe size bet as a c-bet, thought it was because he hand a marginal hand. When rec player called I didn't think they were strong either, so raised flop, got called by utg. I occasionally check turn when I play flop strong so I can go for x/r with nutted hands and hands that don't do so well as a x/c ott, would have liked to seen a free river and decide there, but villain bet turn and I decided to jam with tp+double gutter. Probably not optimal in this specific hand but it's not like I turn my hands into a bluff vs this villain that often and I think it's a decent hand to balance my x/r range here. Haven't put much thought if something like Tc8h would be a better hand, however I rarely play unsuited gappers vs a pfr, and I think a large portion of villain's calling range would contain a single high heart so that me having a fd wouldn't matter. When thinking about villain's range on the flop I discounted sets, 2p, straights, and baby flushes as I think he would have played them differently, so that left me with overpairs, 88/99 some Tx, and random junk that had some equity like 65, and did not put villain on a straight flush here obviously. I do expect some fold equity when I shove this turn as played. I think villain is only calling this with overpairs 88/99 Tx that have a heart.

99 hand: Not too much info on this particular villain except that in 70 hands that I have played with them so far, they are super aggressive and barrel like a madman. Bet size ott felt weak and thought they would go larger with an overpair since I can have so many draws here. Also villain can have a ton of draws here also and could have also picked up the bdfd, so I'm not really comfortable calling the third barrel on any club, diamond, ace, king, and queen which is like half the deck.

Gonna take a break for a bit. Haven't been playing my A game, but I haven't been playing terribly either lately. Maybe I'm a bit burnt out from playing so much compared to prior 50NL since I'm putting in about 50% more hands per day than before. In today's session I wasn't getting any folds pre nor post flop. All my iso raises would get called and I'd see a lot of flops MW. Still calling down light in some spots, so for today I concentrated on overfolding when I got raised.

Gonna post some hands where I think in certain spots I guess I think I have to think more clearly through. Would appreciate any feedback on these spots.

SB seems like they play a standard tag style. They are 24/15 w/ 3b 8%. So the 3b pre doesn't mean much as for these positions I think they can 3b my BTN open wide. I don't have many hands on BB, 73/5 over 150 hands, so they can overcall here with pretty much anything in my mind. I think calling is better here, though I decided to 4b and try to get HU with BB as I think SB would understand what range I am repping and I should have some FE, however now that I review it I am not sure how much of their range they are going to fold since they have BB behind and they are most certainly going to call, so SB can still call with a wide range here.
BB jams the flop, which I think they can do with all straights, sets, 2p, flushdraws, and combo draws like 67 etc. I don't think they shove something like Ah9h here though. I'm not too concerned about SB as they never have a higher overpair than me here and I doubt they 3b low pp's pre thought I wouldn't say never. When I checked on equilab I only have 26% equity vs that range and I need to put in 36% of the pot so obviously a bad call. I would need QhQx at minimum for me to call here, or any fd with a high kicker. Stuff like this I need to get better at while at the tables, as there is a huge difference in equity with TT vs QQ compared to villain's range I assigned them.

Here is a spot I come across maybe once every session. I have no idea if this should be an easy fold, or if it's a cooler or whatever. Not getting into the limp call pre...
So not that many hands with villain, this is the third time they iso raised to 6-8bb's in the past 2 orbits, and they look like a standard tag. Flop I could have raised, however this villain likes to barrel so I want to keep in any bluffs they have. Turn not the best card however not as bad as a 4th spade. When they decide not to barrel turn I think I need to bet for value vs their Ax, KK-QQ, Tx hands, and hands that contain a high spade like KsJx, so I think the turn bet is fine and I'm never getting anymore value from stuff like 88 unless they hit a boat on the river. I size the turn bet for a river shove, however I get x/r'd. So not sure if this should be an easy fold here or not. I discounted AxKs/AxQs since they didn't barrel turn. So they have AA, JJ, TT, ATs, JTs, KsQs they could possibly play like this. At the time I thought they could have done it with AxKs/AxQs, Ksxx, KQ, KTs, QTs, KsKx. When I plug those ranges into equilab I have enough equity to call on the turn to their min x/r. If I call turn they are shoving everything that beats me on the turn, and x/f their drawing hands, maybe calling with Tx, so I decided if I'm continuing shoving turn is better than calling or shoving rivers. Not sure how accurate my read is for this hand but after review it would seem that min x/r ott is more weighted towards nutted hands, and maybe x/s with their combo draws and Tx?

So another spot here where I can fold and not get myself into trouble? Like I said in my first post when I played 50NL, no one ever bluffs here when they raise unlike at the lower limits (I have picked off a few bluffs but not often enough compared to the times they have it). This is a fine line between a cooler and I should be folding since villains rarely min bluff raise or min raise semi-bluff. By the river in this hand I'm behind QQ, 66, but ahead of Q6, 22, and AQ. I doubt they bet river with Q2/62, and also doubt they min-raise with 53 although they could with 53dd.

This is actually the only hand worth posting for this entire session.
BTN is an aggressive reg, they like 3b and squeezing, I have 9k hands on them. Only twice have they ever 3b my UTG raise and they had AA both times. This situation is somewhat different as there is a caller behind so this is a squeeze so it's possible they could be doing it lighter than normal and was prepared to 4b/gii vs them as I'm never going to fold queens to them pre.

SB is a reg that I don't have that many hands but I have chatted with them offline once before. They mass multi-table so they play a nitty game, and they cold 4b my UTG open. So 2 players raise my UTG open, one a solid aggro reg, the other a nitty reg. I tanked awhile on this one. Had my position be MP or CO, I'd 5b shove here, however in these specific positions I think I can safely fold? If I were slightly deeper I don't think I'd hesitate folding QQ pre for like 200bb, but I'm only 160bb deep so a bit tougher decision.

What's your read on V in the AJo hand (121)? Regardless of what a donk he is (never mind the results) surely AJo isn't going to crush his range here?

AsJc, JcJh, A7cc, 86dd, KcKh, AsAd, AsQd - all look misplayed or overplayed.

Villain is 34/29, af4, 3b 13%, 4b 24%, fv3b 39% over 1.3k hands. I've played with him on my previous site as well. He is very aggressive at 6max, more so when it's short handed. Vs his super aggro table image in the past 20 minutes, the history we have together, and the positions we are in, I sized my 4b super large and snap called his shove for value. On a different day it'd probably be played differently.


AsJc not mis/overplayed given table dynamics with villain.

JcJh villain was 41/6 over 100 hands. He had limp/raised my iso's a few times before which I folded, decided to gii with JJ here this time, given positions and that we are 4-handed I don't think it's that bad.

A7cc yeah thats spew. I get tilted when I constantly have to fold like the KJcc hand so I say to myself, they can't always ***** have it can they??? Like wtf, at 10NL/20NL villains were raising half the times with weaker hands or complete air... Not so much at 50NL.

KcKh this is literally the 1 combo of bluff that I ever have here in this spot, and I don't play it like this all the time. I have 33/44/TT/AA/AJ/KQcc/KJcc/QJcc that I'm playing the same way. Maybe I should never have a bluff here ever? Btw villain's ign was trip10z.

AsAd yeah I don't beat anything by the river I'm a donkey this hand.

AsQd villain was 42/34 over 100 hands and seemed like a spewmonkey, could've paid more attention to his Fv3b which was 100% up until then, however over 100 hands I didn't think it meant that much. When looking at the number of occurrences, yeah could have been a fold to his 4b since he folded v3b 5/5 times previously.

Feels stupid and nitty to fold vs postflop raises all the time. Was only c-betting 53.2% of flops yesterday and felt like half the time I get raised...

Villain is 27/17 over 2.1k hand though not much history together. Opens 21% UTG+c-bets 86%. I figure x/r flop I can get 22-66, AK/AQ to fold, also folds out any equity they have like KT. Get called so either they think I am FoS and decided to go with their small pp's or they have overpairs, 88, fd's and maybe something random like JT. I check turn as I'm not folding overpairs, 88 just boated, JT just got there, and if they called my x/r otf w/ underpair not sure if they are going to fold turn on a non heart. I could still make some flushdraws pay but thats only a small portion of their continuing range. River makes a 4 to a straight. I've made this villain lay down rivers with decent sized river bets, and I can rep stuff like 9T, 79, 78, 76, JT, Txhh, 99 so I think I can make underpairs fold, I beat most of the fd's, possibly make some over pairs fold.

Then there is a **** ton of hands I b/f to a postflop raise, only posted the hands with big pots, its not like I call down light that often, but seriously, they can't always ***** have it. I think I only had 2 examples I posted where villain raised postflop and then folded later on. These were all the hands I raised postflop last session. As you can see my raises are weighted towards the nuts, however I do mix in pure bluffs, semi-bluffs, and turning made hands into bluffs, so I expect that some of my villains are capable of doing the same thing, especially when it's reg vs reg. If I always fold to raises w/o the nuts or draws to it, am I being exploited?

Hand 4: I think if you're taking a x/r line, you have to fire three, especially on this turn and river. They may not fold an overpair when the turn is checked back, but with 4 to a straight and boats possible, they are folding an overpair to a triple barrel.

Hand 7: Bet the flop. Pairs lower than a Q without a diamond fold, and things like JdTx will call. We also have quite a few outs if called by an A or Q along with position. And if he happens to fold a thing like 87, all the better.

Hand 9: You kind of started and then stopped. And then tried again on the river. It's really the same as hand 4. If you had AQ or AK on the flop and you check/raise, the 6 is a great card for us (assuming we had AQ or AK) and we'd want to barrel again for more value. But when you stop, it takes away your momentum and tells a different story than you want told.

Hand 11: Looks like you're repping a very narrow range, pretty much just Tx or 99. There is more bluffs in your range here than if it was Q84 or KT5. Those are hands that hit a BB flatting range. Raising on TT9 gives you such a more narrow perceived range. I'd rather just flat down with your hand.

Hand 12: Looks a bit overkill. If he is bluffing BvB, what hands are you getting him to fold to a turn x/r? His air...maybe T7? It's a spot where you may be able to tone it down and pick up another bet OTR. I know we don't have a strong hand, but things get crazy BvB.

I do like hand 13. That and the K are the nut turn cards for us to x/raise as a semi-bluff. Gets him off of a ton of Qx and lower PP type hands.

The b/f hands...the only ones I'm not too fond of are the last two. 86 hand, I'd just x back the turn. Not getting value from much, if anything, and the only hands he may fold is like Q8 (and that's a stretch). The last hand, might be spewy but I put a 3bet in if he is a spashier reg. He'll fold everything except a pure flush draw and an A.

Still haven't been in the mood to play lately. Forced myself to play today, got in a 2.2hr session/1.3k hands. Kept in mind not to try to overplay any of my hands, and also changed my BTN sizing from 2.6x to 2x which helped me combat the massive 3b'ing going on at the tables tonight. Overall I felt I played my B game, still feeling a bit like playing bingo...

Not sure about this hand. Villain is 40/14/6.3af 7.4%3b over 200 hands. Preflop I get a good price and I have a good hand to see a MW pot with. Not a terrible flop, however cc'er donked into 2 ppl. I decided to call and see what initial 3bettor does. Ott villain makes their bet only 1/2 psb instead of a full psb like they did otf. Thought that repp'd a somewhat weaker hand, like it excluded 2p/sets. Not sure what the best play ott is here but I feel calling and raising > folding. Calling is probably better since I have position.


Failed triple barrel bluff. Villain is looking to be a spazzy reg, 40/34/3.7af 17%3b, 40%fv3b over 500 hands, all from tonight. This was the first large pot we played together which set me up to get paid off later.

Pretty much forcing myself to put in hands. Just not motivated atm. Played 2 hrs/1.1k hands. 77 points left to unlock the next status tier which will give me like 0.5% more rakeback lulz. Today I played a bit better than yesterday, however got into some tough spots today with one aggro villain.

So today I'll just post hands vs the one aggro villain as they were at all my tables today so I got into a lot of pots with them. Stats on villain: 30/25/3.1 af. 11.4% 3b, 24.3% 4b, 36% Fv3b, 33.3% Fv4b. In srp they c-bet 75%, 40% turn, 53% river, in 3bps they c-bet 82%, fold vs c-bet in 3bps 38%. RFI: 19%UTG, 24%HJ, 34%CO, 61%BTN, 60%SB over 3.5k hands. Reads: Villain is super aggro, likes to squeeze, can light 3b UTG opens, not afraid to barrel with air once in awhile. Sometimes they seem spewy.

I can bet river because this villain can call me light sometimes, definitely behind if I get raised as they don't raise river as a bluff often. x/f can be ok as I don't think they will bluff that often, but x/c is ok since they can bluff a small % of the time here. I made the sizing small to get value from TT, 88, 77, 44, 33, 9x as they can call me light.


Tough spot here I think, don't recall anytimes when villain has raised me that we got to SD. I feel this villain can raise flop wide, so I do decide to call the flop raise. I will isolate myself vs nuts and super combo draws if I 3b flop. Turn I think calling is worst, jamming or folding is better. Decided to fold as I easily rep AK/KQ here and I doubt he thinks he can bluff me off those hands, so I feel he has me beat a lot of the time here.


The previous hand and this hand were played at the same time on different tables. They were played very similarly, this hand I have a bit more equity I think, so I can call ott then evaluate river.


For realz this villain doesn't like to fold pre. I made a substantial c-bet here to rep QQ+ and make villain fold all their smaller pairs. I feel I can do this profitably given how preflop was played. I made the 4b size large since me and villain are both deep.


And back to situations where villains raise me postflop, as of lately I feel that they do it a ton to me, and they can't always have it.

To me, poker is fun. It's a nice little logic game that has a good amount of luck, but a better amount of skill. Coming from a chess background, the worst player lost all the time. Same as in tennis. In poker, the worst player doesn't always lose. It's unpredictable, but we try to make it as predictable as possible.

What motivates me is the drive to accomplish my goals and when people tell me I can't do something. I want to play live so I can live comfortably while finishing college. That's what drives me. What also drives me is when people scoff at me saying I'll be at 200nl eventually or when I was called a "not good" player by someone fairly recently that we both know.

Try listing your goals and motivations, and whether poker is fun or not. Sometimes you just need that spark to re-ignite things. Maybe it's listing the stuff above, maybe it's studying more, or maybe it's taking the HUD and stats out of poker for a bit and play for fun. Good luck though.

I don't really have any specific goals for playing. It would be nice to be profitable at 50NL/100NL where I could start withdrawing money for extra cash. I'm a competitive person by nature and being able to beat the game is just as good a reward as the monetary side.
I don't have motivation atm, that's where my problem lies I think, being BE for this month might have something to do with it.
Poker is just a hobby for me so yeah I do enjoy playing it, however I prefer live cash games over online ones.

Was trying to go for thin value on this river, maybe it's bad not sure.


Felt like I was beat on this river, but I stationed it anyways.

Ok, taking the rest of the month off. Played a long session this morning, 5hrs/2k hands. Started off playing well, ended up tilted and tired and dropped 12 BI's, just overall been unmotivated and frustrated while playing so I think a week break will be good. Cashed in my points aka their lame rakeback for $122. Made Diamond tier status.

On a side note, 888's "rakeback" really does truly suck. Know if there's anything even half decent to do with Rewards points rather than cashout?

I don't know of anything that you can do with your points other than convert them into $. I think 888's rakeback is slightly better than wsop's though, and you also can mass multi-table unlike the 6 table cap at wsop.

Hopefully I'll get motivated to play again soon. Only played a 30 minute session today, the first time I've played since my break. My mood is fine, though my focus is a bit off and I felt sluggish when checking out hud stats for villains.

Villain here was very aggro. Opening 44% BTN, Fv3b 0%, 4b 28%.


Flatting pre probably better here vs 3b. Villain 23/19 3b 6.3% Fv4b 50%.


I'm a bit rusty, not sure what to do here, ez fold? ez shove? Call turn, evaluate river?
Villain was 25/18 af 3.1 Fold vs CB flop 70%, fold vs CB turn 38% over 375 hands.


Put villain on tp+decent kicker, wasn't sure if I could make them fold it but decided to try.


Don't know if I should have tripled here or just x/f flop. 3b pre isn't standard but the way table flow has been I felt this was a good time to 3b w/ atc.

Should be a fold river here, always a flush when villain takes these sorts of lines.

Didn't get any volume in last month. Undecided in whether I should drop down to 20NL where there aren't that many tables running, or just stick with 50NL. Probably better if I drop down, BR not even at 20 BI's for 50NL. Minimum BR where I mandatory drop down is $750.

I played a session on the 7th for 30 mins/70 hands and yesterday for 1hr/180 hands. I was only 2-tabling 50NL. Made a couple of mistakes, mainly just bad bluff catching in a couple big pots. Not sure what compelled me to play the hands the way that I did, I didn't have any reads on villains.
