Glad you shared this honesty here. It definitely rings home with me.
This is such a common theme for a lot of players, and I can say first hand it's a battle for me at times to not just fire up a session or hop into a live game without doing the proper warm up and prep mentally.
Even more so when we have been running well and not experiencing much in the way of negative variance or difficult spots from villains after a few days or more in a row. Complacency is exactly what creeps in, and then a little winners tilt and even some form of a hidden ego will rear its ugly head.
I have learned the hard way, over and over again, that in order to build that mental stamina we will need when times are tough, we need to stick to our processes each and every day. Perhaps it's even more important to do it when we are focused and on point and playing well. Those are the times where working on our game seems to suffer the most. All great players put in a lot of time, effort, and evaluation of hands and their game in general when they are in the midst of a downswing. Only a handful of them can honestly say they do it enough when times are good.
