thank you! and yea D is a weird spot for us now. We have young guys playing great like Dermott and Holl/Liljegren in the A + Reilly and Zaitsev and an improving Gardiner but theres still a lot of work to be done and whether or not we land a Dman now or in the future or at all is gonna be a serious question starting with the upcoming trade deadline.

As for you guys, Kinda wish you didn't move Sergachev but Drouin is fantastic. Sell Price high imo and start the rebuild. Better now than in 3 years unless they can rebound after this season. Also you get more long term worth out of young guys like Drouin and Gallagher if they blow it up now. Also fire Bergevin already please.

firts update of the month here!

Fine start as far as playing but I ran into some 500nl losses and a bit of variance, but overall Im doing well mental game wise, really happy with how im playing, and also getting in a lot more volume!

as for 100z specifically, here's what I've got since I started adding it to my grind. Its only 8k so im probably flicking the doomswitch for being happy about it but Im really enjoying the grind there so far.

This pretty much above all. Top 3 worst gm in the league ainec.

Trade either Marner or Nylander for OEL or McDonagh and you're good to go. Or like Kapanen w 1st rnd I guess but dunno if enough.

Surprise you didn't do anything last summer w the ducks having butloads of defenseman available...

def interested in OEL but I honestly dont think Marner+ is enough to get him without sacking a ton of other pieces and Im very confident that Nylander is an untouchable along with Matthews and Freddy.

I think im against McDonagh just because hes in his prime now and I think we want prime in 2-4 years in a top Dman. Too many people are getting ahead of themselves in our fan circle because the team has spiked so quickly, but as long as we survive the cap crunch in the next 1-2 years then we should be aiming for contending right after that, not this year or next. Still think playoffs now is just a bonus.

Win now is just not the right choice for the leafs and for that reason I doubt we will pick up a T4 Dman this year or offseason, maybe not next year either (unless were gifted good trade value on a RHD). I think our management is thinking along the same line though so im really happy.

and yea its tough without much info on villain but I think its a decent turn card for him to bluff and I can put a lot of his equity in a tough spot when he bets to this size and I shove. Had he gone smaller and kept me from being able to shove Id prob go with a call. I feel like call would be my standard play but yea, obv his value range is thin when I block 9 and I prob 3bet flop with a lot of better 9x so this is near top of my range that could raise here.

Again might pio this for another opinion but meh, ev is gonna be pretty close theoretically between shove and call imo and vs an unknown it prob doesnt matter much. for that reason maybe I just call to reduce variance but then I have to make another decision which can potentially make it less ev based on how I play it.

I think I def like shoving non club J-A as it blocks some of his better 9x and puts some top pairs into his continuing range hopefully. 8,6,5 are all the worst cards to come, a club lowers ev of course but makes it an easier decision (call). not sure what I do on 4,3,2 but allowing my opponent to continue bluffing or protecting my hands vs his equity both seem fine to me. Dont want to spend too much time splitting hairs on close ev spots though, gotta find the areas that cause bigger ev losses and correct those mistakes in my game!
Nice thread. I just started my own PGC and am looking at good ones to sub to for motivation, because I find them interesting, and because I like hearing differing strat opinions. One question - why does a club make it an easier call? I would naturally be much more inclined to call on non-clubs. gl! I'll be following along

will be posting at the end of the month!

I decided not to bother with small updates the last few weeks with the wpt and a ton of studying + other things going on, but ill get an end of month going and start posting hands more regularly again.

Ive started playing a lot more 100z. want to work my game up and play some better competition at higher levels. I've been very surprised at how easy the 100z games are, the rb cuts really helped the fish to reg ratio and there's still a surprising amount of very weak regs playing daily in the pool. few of the best 100z players have already moved up to 200z since I started playing, so congrats to them!

Overall since networking/studying with more zoom regs as of late I can say that high (5bb+) winrates are definitely achievable in today's 100z/200z games, so I may be focusing more on them than bodog as I find there's so much more to the game when playing there over playing anon on bodog/party/elsewhere. I will def keep playing bodog/euros but will try to find the right balance between experience, study, and profit

Alright guys, Im back!

End of Month Post

Ill start with a month review and then follow it up with my goals and plans for March (in this post or the next).

Feb Results:

and 100z overall since I started adding it:

Overall I'm enjoying the addition of 100z but my other normal games have definitely suffered in volume. It may hurt my overall hourly but I find playing zoom is helping me study and improve my game far more efficiently by always having hands to review with better players.

Ive also decided to get on the pio grind more effectively so Ill be making some goals involving studying there for March!

as for the Feb Goals:

[x]100NL Zoom - 12k
[ ]200NL Hands - 23k
[ ]500NL Hands - 5k
[x]Total - 40k

[ ]Live Cash - 20 Hours
[x]Live MTTs - Make a good run in the 1k and satty into the 2.5k and 5k events

So my structure for hands just didn't work. My motivation was all for stars and little for Bodog and currently I'm not putting any volume in on euro sites. I did reach my hand totals though (if you count the live cash/mtt hands I played haha, only 38.5k online).

As for the Live MTT goal im giving myself a pass there as I was able to satty into the 1k and WPT Main at Fallsview and grinded my way down to 93rd of 517. Missed the money but in both but I also made a couple bi at 2/5 cash while I was there and overall ended up putting in a good 40 hours of live grind over 4 days at the event.

As soon as I decide what my March goals will be Ill post here again! I know for sure theyll include studying hands in pio, playing at least 40k hands online, and possibly some workout and/or other non poker related goals
BlueCollarPoker's MidStakes Containment Thread Quote

Goals for March

Here we go for another month!

- 40k Hands of 100nl-500nl
- 100 hands/scenarios simmed in Pio
- Finish all 5 sections of the ECGM package
- Workout 15 times (5km runs, Core & Weight workouts, hockey)
- Drink 1500 oz of water (spread out properly, 60 oz per day)

So the goals are pretty simple! Grind online and study hard. Going to be getting back into pio and working on my game as I feel I have taken good steps forward and want to propel myself even further. I'm not worrying about moving up anywhere currently, just focusing on putting in good volume and studying a ton.

The remaining goals fall into the health category. I want to make sure I'm working out at least every other day, but would prefer to hit 5 times a week. I've also started adding in regular water consumption daily. I've always liked to drink water and hardly ever drink things like coffee, pop(soda), or energy drinks etc. But at the same time I've never been near the recommended daily average for my size.

I found an intake level I feel comfortable with and I'm working to keep myself hydrated regularly. I've been doing this for the past 2 weeks and it's been pretty fantastic. I consistently feel energized and awake as well as motivated throughout they day, regardless if I've been at my computer sitting down all day or being more active throughout. I don't get fatigued mentally as quickly and my productivity level is at an all-time high. I can say that the direct and noticeable differences of being more hydrated on a regular basis have definitely convinced me to continue this strategy in my day to day life. I find I stick to things much better if I make goals for them and track them day to day as well.

Ill make a follow up post in a few days with a poker and hand history update. Cheers guys!

I dont even know where to start with this one.

300bb deep vs a 19/10 regfish and I flop the dream. turn is the nut worst after he flats the 3bet since he can possibly have AA/KJ, but might rip flop with TT/55. 100bb deep it doesnt really matter and im just shipping it to deny equity and cooler 2p,combo draws, sets that he will never fold, but 300bb deep is completely different and I cant go 3 streets of value on this turn. Could still maybe prot bet turn vs equity but idk, I think I just whimped out and decided to check call and see a river haha. He bets 6bb and I swear I've seen recs do this before with extremely strong hands so I stifle the urge to x/r. riv sucks but ill prob x/c vs anything under pot, but he checks back and shows the nut straight

pretty weak flop call by villain imo given how much equity I can x/r here but oh well. I'm not in a fun spot when he 3bets flop haha. nutty turn
also I get away from some flushes by river vs this line, some I x/c turn with too so outside of coolers I think he loses quite a bit of value on flop and turn
