Thursday was a bad day...I had no school so I did a good pregame session before playing. Was doing fine till i made a bad call in a 4bp (and lost) and after that started playing not so well and it sorta went downhill...pretty tough day, lost a lot of confidence in my mental game abilities and was thinking about either getting a mental game coach/re-reading jared's book



Friday was much better, I suffered a bunch of bad beats throughout the session but kept my head up and played what I considered my very best game. Ran as bad as I could, but it's repeating a pattern I've noticed before, where if I'm playing well then I'm even more likely to keep playing well, and vice versa. I've been working on my technical game a lot this month and not nearly as much on mental game so it's one of my worst months ever in terms of quality of poker played. (if you've been following, you've seen how many days I've complained about playing bad). It was quite refreshing to see how well I played today despite results

One final issue is that after running decently well at 5/10 I've started table selecting very little. It was a lot higher when I just moved up, stayed at 1 fish/table for awhile and I've been finding myself even staying at all reg lineups somtimes these past few days

Lol, I felt good and decided to play some more. Got stacked twice with AK AIPF, one vs AA and another vs 22. Down like over 5k today, which is my stoploss.

Down like 7 BIs in last 2 days which is annoying cuz it's right before end of month chop. Haven't chopped since mid Decemeber, so not gonna play tomorrow to protect my profits lol.

Will month review+ graph in a day or two, as well as some goals for Feb.

half the hands are bad beats against players with 30 bigs, and if you're worried about those I would argue you're not ready to deal with the long term downswing that will eventually happen at 5/10+. respect you're ability to quickly move up. Why do you think hand 4 is "such a bad over bet?"

Some things I did bad in Jan:
- Mental game, played really bad poker on some days
- Table selection, during the later half of the month I got a bit lazy and stopped selecting as much as I should....and less and less each day.

Goals for Feb:

- Fix above leaks
- Start meditating again (I hate honestly hate doing it more than anything)
- 30k hands of the best poker I can play.

gl man Im living in Vic. Was in Van for two months march-april playing plo at edgewater everyday, did you ever play there?

No idea why there's been so much variance in the quality of my play lately...I really have to figure out how to constantly play my A game again or I will be going nowhere

Well, I played another session after yesterday's, and despite playing well it ended pretty terribly. In quite a bit of MU now.

Anyway, I've just discovered one of my biggest leaks. At times I often forget that it's one long grind and am focused on the present. For example, despite not being in the best state of mind I would tell myself:

"It's the weekend, games are good, I can't give up weekend EV, have to play"
"Behind on volume, if I don't play right now how will I ever catch up on pace"
"There's a good seat open, surely the EV of getting that seat and starting my session right now will be higher than the EV of doing a proper warm-up routine."

The list goes on. Last week I also developed sort of an action plan to help me hit all my goals (exercise, meditation, procrastination habits, playing good poker, etc) and it fell though pretty quickly, I think the main reason was because there were too many goals, and ideally I should be working on one thing at a time.

Live and learn, hopefully things will get better.

Finally, I'm not gonna be updating this thread anymore. It doesn't seem very popular, don't see how keeping it open helps me and also updating it is kinda a chore/annoying.
