I tried creating a blog/help diary/PG&C thread at Christmas but went away snowboarding, then did some other stuff and never really got round to keeping it updated.
I've been a slightly winning cash player over the year (at $25NL) but I tend to try my hand at tournaments, do OK in them, but then get bored or make one stupid mistake and lose everything. Therefore I think I'm better suited to cash games. I'm going to concentrate more on cash games, and possibly play the occasional tournament. However I usually just think "ah I'll play a tourney now" without thinking that I need to be free for the next few hours. I'm going to put more thought into this.
My ultimate goal is to play in the WSOP ME. I think its probably a dream of all poker players. If I could qualify to play in it that would be great. However I don't think there's too much point in setting a goal like that in the short term, I just need to be profitable, not tilt and don't do stupid things.
I've spent a lot of time on my game, working on opening ranges, when and who to 3 bet, how to be more aggressive post flop (have seen HUUUUUUGE improvements in my red line - probably the thing I'm most proud about).
My current bankroll is $711.65
I am currently playing mainly $25NL
I will move up to $50NL when I reach $1250
I will move down to $16NL if I reach $500
Tonight my plan is to play $25NL and I also have some study in mind.
I'm not sure there is much to report or any unusual hands. Hopefully get another good day today. Probably one hand I would like to review, which is kind of related to another hand I have seen on the forum. Will get that looked into later.
Another outstanding day yesterday. Bankroll is $1114.64. That's 16 buy ins up in around 5000 hands. I know this is mainly just "good" variance though. My all in expected value is around 10 buy ins if I remember correctly.
I'll post screenshots for whatever comes first after 10,000 hands or after I reach $1250 showing my stats / my graph. At that point I'll also stick up a few hands for analysis and feedback. I've moved up to $50NL a few times but I seem to struggle at it compared to $25NL. There seems to be a massive jump in skills.
Poor, poor day yesterday. Devastating and makes me realise I still have a lot to work on.
Played one session. Made about $20 profit but my AIEV was $100. Lost flip after flip and ran AK into KK etc. Ah well, these things happen and my actual winnings matched my AIEV winnings so I was no longer running hot (kinda).
Anyway, went out for a couple of games of pool and a couple of drinks, then came home and grinded a bit more. Lost 5 BI due to stupidity. One hand was especially moronic when I tried bluffing with a 200BB stack when I really shouldn't have. Fool.
I realise this means nothing without showing hands so in future I will put hands up to.
I think part of my problem was at one point I was at $1175ish and I was thinking "this is easy. I might just move up now" and "I'll just quickly get to $1250 and move up".
This thinking was part of what caused my downfall. It's a long slog to move up, it's quicker to move down. Just play my A game and I'll move up when I move up.
