Been awhile for an update, as I just finished my first month of playing full time and as always there's good and bad.

Good:
Really enjoy the lifestyle
Happy working
Life feels more balanced

Bad:
I had a very bad month financially, poker wise

For the bad, I know that's what I signed up for..but wished my first month had some run good!

Despite my results, I definitely feel like I got better as a player, I just need to play my A game more consistently.

I also got to stay in AC for a week and grind the cash games (which was a lot of fun) and brick event #1 of the BPO for 3 bullets. (not fun and probs bad BRM)

So here are my results for January.

Live Cash:
1/2: $671 on 35 hours
2/5:-$1604 on 10 hours

I shot took at 2/5 with my BR, although it may have been a bit aggro. Losing comes from 2 pots. QQ<AK against a super aggro opponent for about $750. And I lost $1,000 in a cooler. Overall happy with my play, but we'll put 2/5 on the backburner for now.

Live Tourney (1/3) -$500
Started off well with a final table finish in a 6max tourney. But then bubbled the ME and fired 3 bullets of a $550. Oops

75% is 50NL where I've broken even the last 20k hands (!!!)
25% is 100NL where I lost about 3 BI.

Stake: Started off well at 100 NL since party seems to be way softer than WSOP. Just went on a 10 BI downswing, but still up a little due to bonuses.

All in all, after RB and bonuses I lost approx $2,300 last month, not including my life expenses. close to 20% of my BR.

But if it was easy everybody would do it. Onto February Goals!

1. Play 50K online hands
2. Play 40 hours live
3. Do range analysis on 20 hands I played
4. Study 25 hours
5. Workout 12 days a month.
6. Get better

So February had started off with a whimper.

First 5 minutes of 6 tabling 50/100NL I was down about $200. I ended up losing about -$150 to end the first day.

Thankfully had a really nice second day for +1300.

Cash 50/100/200NL for about $500 and just placed 2nd in the 5k for approx 800. A bit disappointed since I had a 5-1 chiplead against an inferior player and just couldnt close it out. But otherwise happy with my tournament play

Just got home from the casino after a 9 hour session
$-700 over 9 hours.

Think I played fine just got the doomswitch today.

No sets on about 20 pp's.

EP opens to 7, gets 4 callers, I squeeze to 35 with 1010 and only the EP calls. I have a pot sized bet left. Just lost after I GII with top set against OESD on turn and didn't hold up.

Thoughts on that last hand? I think his sizing was really good here as he definitely has a decent amount of bluff combos here. Calling out of the sb I think he has all suited As, and probably the only two unsuited aces are a9o and a10o.

I think he had the flush but definitely something I tanked a bit with.

River is close, giving villain A9o and ATo is a bit of a stretch ( unless BB is a whale). On the other hand both of your ranges are capped are you have a ton of draws with a weak spade that you might be going the b/c/b line along with some medium TP2k or low 2p type of hands. I'd close my eyes and call with K8o, villain does bluff a lot and I won't be surprised if he's overbluffing spade blockers. It'd be very good info if you do see him c/r a flush here and can use the information to adjust moving forward.

For sure I just assumed those were the only unsuited aces he could bluff raise as I think he 3bets AJ+. I think the massive sizing played a part in me folding as well.

Had another solid day for about +900 thanks to another 2nd place finish in the 5k. Got crushed at 50 NL and did well at 100 NL. Ironically it's been like that all month.

Very tiring day, but successful! Fired one bullet in the Big Stax 300 at Parx.

Before bagging 294k heading into 5kk BB for about 59 bigs going into day 2.

Was just one of those days where I ran really well, and I don't think I did anything out of the ordinary, if anything wasn't my A game.

Also met RedsoxNets5 (screennames we thought were cool in fifth grade ) And went over some spots. Really nice guy and obviously a very good player

So excited about Sunday for sure.

Mini Vacation up as I've played 9 out of the first 10 days of the month.

Appreciate the support! I'm quickly realizing how difficult it can be to make it a career in poker

So past 3 days I was at Parx for day 2 of the 300 and then grinded cash.

Day 2 I started with about 60 bigs with about 350 left 262 paid and in very nice position.

My table I had 2 aggro players to my right, luckily I was picking up hands early...they just weren't holding.

First hand of significance

KQ in cutoff at 2/5k blinds I raise 12.5k in MP. Competent reg calls on button blinds fold.

Flop (30k): Q 6 2

I cbet 8500 (pretty dry board maybe 12k is better) and am quickly raised to 25k, he has me slightly covered. I call.

Turn (80): 9

I check, he bets 50k, after 30 secs I call, not getting any discernible reads.

River (180k): 2

I check and he snap jams, I have about 165k left. Obviously a gross spot as I just have a bluff catcher here. He shoved so quickly though I thought he was capable of jamming missed hearts. He really is repping 66 with this board.

After about a 2 min tank he calls clock on me, which I believe is usually a sign of weakness but he definitely seemed relax and I quickly folded. I make a comment showing this is the moment to show missed hearts and he smiles and lifts over 6 6.

I then had a shorty shove KQ into my AQ but couldnt hold. Then busted A10<76 on 10 7 6 board about 30 from the money.


After that I grinded cash, including playing a 41 hour session and it was pretty disastrous -$1600. Pretty depressing that I've been beating 100 NL online this year yet can't beat the worst form of poker in 1/2 live. I think I'm leaking a bit preflop with speculative hands but it was just very run bad i think overall plus a few coolers, cause overall I was very very happy with my play.

So profit for the month is in the red again...Would suck to have two negative months to start a career but hopefully the run good will come soon

Back on the uptick...Been playing very well lately.

Been shot taking 200NL, and playing pretty well.

Feeling very comfortable against the 100 NL pool and been doing well there.

Probably have entitlement tilt at 50NL

Unfortunately, through last 14 days in about a 2.7k downswing and my roll is hurting and have to drop back down to 50/100 NL, just ran awful at 200, though still confident I'm a winning player there.

So two months in a row losing month: Online was +2.1k due to cash and tourneys but live killed me for -2.5k.

March Recap:

First winning month of the year...

Which is astonishing after the first 5 days of the month I was down 2k from 200 NL and had to drop down.

Thankfully Stars came and I was able to run my account from a $450 deposit to about $2150, through a mix of spins (possible cash mine), cash, and tournies.

On the live end, I was able to profit $1,100 over 22 hours.

Bringing my total to about $950 profit (Bought one shell of my own money for the 150k tourney on borg)

Been going over things with Fast as well which has been helpful.

Also hit a new high of volume with 65k hands, which is nice.

Feel like April is gonna be a huge month, working hard on my game and I think results hopefully show.


Also made a prob bet with a friend about reaching 100k hands for April...so big goal on that!

Been meditating and doing yoga which has helped. Also decided to change my update process and post daily results on my day/ discuss hh in a format similiar to benabadbeat and pokerarb.

Woo congrats on winning month. 100k in April will be tough though. Playing 6 tables of 6max will get you a little under 500 hands per hour. That means you will need to put at least 45 hours of playing time a week. You definitely will need a strict daily planner if you want to also keep up the study and workout routine.

Thanks man appreciated! Right so I recently got a new monitor and setup so at 50 NL i've been playing 8 tables (without feeling like im auto piloting) so I think that should help with the hands per hour but will definitely be a challenge.

Think gym in the morning before first sessions will be good to keep me mentally sharp.

Looking to devote between 50-60 hours of poker a week, which will be a grind but hopefully be worth the reward
