A bit of a weekend update:

Friday: 9 hour online session (with breaks interspersed): 4k hands for -$100, played B ish games and didn't run well. As the weather gets colder more recs and recs are playing which is great, but obviously led to a few bad beats on my end. No tilt throughout the session which was great.

Yesterday: 1/2 Live, 13 hours +1,470. Just one of those decks where I got slammed by the deck. Flopped 4 sets, Aces 3 times, Kings 4 times, 10's 8 times, Jacks 4x, Queens 2x....and I had a very fishy action table. To date, just barely became my biggest session so was nice.

I'm probably just gonna relax today, watch the games, and enjoy the day with my family.

So in summation, online wasn't a great month, but the live score put me just under +3k for the month which is nice.

1. 50,000 hands
2. Diamond + Status on WSOP
3. Study 30 hours
4. Play 15 hours live
5. Read 2 Poker Books
6. Go to the gym 12 times
7. Move to NL 100
1. Fail....29K Hands
2. Fail.... Platinum +
3. Fail..... 16 Hours
4. Fail.....13 Hours
5. Fail ......0 Anyone have any suggestions?
6. Fail ....... 8x
7. Fail ...... I occasionally play 100 NL, but it's not my main stake

Sooo...Failed all my goals lol, but definitely made some improvements with my game and managed a 2k+ month.

Graph for the month:

Played about 2k hands at 100 NL basically B/E so didn't feel the need to post, Tournies added a small profit of about +200, and my one live session was +1470, so if it wasn't for that one would of been a disappointing month. Add RB and promotions, and I wasn't too far from 3k

Now for December goals:

1. Play 25k Hands
2. Move to 100 NL full time
3. Study 20 Hours
4. Read 1 Book
5. Go to the Gym 12 times
6. Enjoy the Holidays and my Birthday

Since this is my last month before full time, poker is gonna be not as much volume and January we're going full throttle. So far this month I've had terrible sinus headaches which have led to about 1.5 k hands at +300.

Played a 10 hour live session. Thought I was headed to another monster session but got 2 outed in a $800 pot. No tilt afterwards but card dead most of the day, probably still had a VPIP/ PFR of 35/30, so I was definitely playing crazy but it was a passive table.

Additionally, I'll be playing the Deepstack series in January and I'll be selling some action (no markup) so keep an eye on that.

Thanks guys and GL at the tables this month!

Thanks man excited to get started!

Played about 2 hours 50 NL for +150, saw a spot at 2 200 NL tables...what a difference the stake is. In 30 minutes of playing 200 NL I was put in extremely difficult spots multiple times by the regs. Was frustrating, made a bad call on a river jam. and I think I folded too light in the face of aggression. Lost -$75 over about 300 hands, even though I stacked a guy AA>KK.

So def a lot of improvements.

I'm rolled for 100 NL but I won't be playing that exclusively until I'm done with the job on the 23rd. After 11 hours of work, I usually never play my A game so I want to be refreshed when I play.

Can confirm! I'll start playing on Party the 23rd and the stake will take up a good portion of my volume, but you'll still see me on WSOP every now and then.

I also get coaching from fast which is a bonus

Looking forward to it, and awesome I'm excited to get started.

Played 3.5 Hours for +110, was a bit undisciplined preflop and peeled too wide in 3bpots...need to get that under control. Been messing with some bet size. Been adding some overbet bluffs and overbet VB to the repetoire that our working out nicely against some of the regulars.

Graph so far for the month:

90% is 50 NL, 10% is 100 NL

Being a nit with the bankroll obviously...Playing a mix usually between 100-50 since there isn't a lot of 100 NL games running.

2 more days of work til it's a lotttt more poker in my life.

Had my company's holiday party on thursday, right next to Delaware Park. Drank til 3, took an Uber, played 3 hours way too drunk, made 80 bucks...Took a taxi back for $40, worked til 5pm the next day.

My degen story for the week.

Will wrap up my year later in the week and then have a big post on goals.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Merry Christmas Eve!

I'm officially full time with poker now as I had my last day on Wednesday. My Poker BR is $9,000 with a liferoll of $2,500. Not sure if that's the best mix but that's what I'm starting with.

Down $300 this week, cold decks and a bit of tilt but overall it's been a good month. My hourly was about $58 which is insane (and not sustainable) for 50 NL. 100 NL went fine as well this month.

Starting first stake session later tonight.

Time for an update:

To go into detail about me quitting. I had just finished my first quarter and did pretty well in sales and was #1 out of all the new hires by a significant margin. So when I told him he seemed in pretty deep shock (I kinda felt bad) and asked if I left for another job. I decided to tell him I'll probably just play poker in the meantime. So he asked if I was gonna be a full time pro with a look that basically screamed "this kid is a f***ing idiot".
Anyway he wished me well.

Following that I had Christmas and then my BDAY (23 woo!) the following 2 days so poker was very little.

Since Monday, I tried to wake up and really treat this like a job, got up at 10, ate a nice breakfast, did HH review, read Mental Book of Poker, played two hours, made a list of things for what I want to do the following week. Studied, played a few more hours of poker than had a coaching session with my stake coach (fast)

I definitely want to get in a good routine as soon as possible cause I fell off the wagon a bit the past two days. If anyone has any advice it'd be super appreciated.

So as the year rounds up, I'll post my results from Poker Tracker. I did a really bad job tracking my live results so all I can say is that I beat 1/2 live soundly even through a kinda gross downswing in September/October.

Thanks! It's good, I definitely realize how much time I have on my hands now, I'm basically freeing up 60 hours of my week now that I don't have a job, so I'm thinking of adding a hobby to make sure all the poker doesn't burn me out.

For live, I live in Northwest Jersey so I usually head up to Sands in PA. Mt. Airy is closer but it's just a sad poker room. I occasionally play in AC as well but those are usually for 2-3 day sessions and not for a day since it's a 3 hour drive.

2016 Poker and Life Goals!

NOTE: I like setting very difficult goals, that while are attainable, will be difficult to achieve. I find I work harder and it keeps me motivated

1.) Make $80,000 through poker

Thoughts: That's about 6x what I made in 2015. However, I'm now playing full time and am willing to put the effort. I believe I'm intelligent enough to get to the levels needed to make this a reality.

2.) Play 700,000 hands of online poker

Over 11 months (I plan to be in Vegas for most of the WSOP) it's about 63.6k hands a month. Doable, but will take a lot of hard work.

3.) Shot take 1kNL by the end of the year.

Once again: Will be difficult and my technical game needs an infinite amount of work, so this will bear watching. But in the States where the games are much weaker I think it can definitely happen.

4.) Play 500 hours of live poker.

Thoughts: Most of this will happen in Vegas where I'll probably play 200-250 hours

5.) Cash in 3 tournaments

I'll probably play in 12-15 for the year. Although I have 3 for the month of January.

6.) Start a Twitch Stream

Thoughts: Why the hell not

7.) Coach some students for micro cash games

This will come later in the year but I've had experience tutoring and it'd be a nice way for additional set income

8.) Erase Tilt completely and become Elite mentally

Pretty important for a poker player. I have a very even keel temperment and rarely tilt. But focus can be an improvement and occasionally have spurts of entitlement tilt

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life Goals

1.) Get fit again

Since college I've always been in pretty good shape, muscular and at about 10% bf. It's slipped since I graduated so I'd like to stay at around 200 lbs but 9% bf (I'm 6'3" btw)
SUB GOALS:
1.) Bench 225x8 2.) Squat 350x10 3.) Deadlift 450x6 by the end of the year

2.) Move out of my parents house

I love my parents...but the sooner the better, do you know how hard it is to bring women home?

3.) Start a stream of steady cash flow outside of Poker

I'd love to rent out an apartment complex and I would consider myself financially literate. I don't plan on investing in the market with how things are shaping up

4.) Visit 5 states I haven't been to before

Part of the reason I chose this profession was for the freedom so why not

5.) Take a vacation abroad

Hopefully at the end of the year to celebrate a great first year.

That's all I got everybody I hope everyone has a phenomenal 2016

Thanks man!

So first week was solid as I booked about 22 hours between playing and studying which included the holidays and my birthday!

Unfortunately, had a rough start to 2016 as I'm a diehard NYJ fan and they kind of choked the bed, obviously not happy when I got home, but it got worse when I found out my dog had passed away (she had been sick, but still not fun)

Obviously, things like that put things into perspective, but I was able to finish the day with a nice 2 hour +$500 session.

This week I'll be playing a lot... a lot. Probably looking at about 65 hours. I am playing two tournaments in the Sands tournament series (the 6 max and main event) and sold about 40% of me for bankroll protection.

Hopefully, I'll have positive updates on that through the week.

Some hands....

Blah. Not sure if I leveled myself here as his bet didn't fit what he was representing, but his table image passiveness thought I was beat. So longterm is this a -EV play? Give me your thoughts.
I have this happen to me frequently, in fact yesterday. I look for physical tells, review the hand in my mind, think about what type player villain is, think about past hands villain has played, then make a decision. Yesterday I folded twice to a player who kept reraising me in position, I thought I had best hand, folded both times because I had just sat down. 2 hands later I flopped a set against him, led out with a bet, he reraised, I stacked him! It's not the battle, it's the war...

I like the raise flop, puts a lot of pressure on villain. Although he looks like a fish so maybe call flop and stab turn is better? Really depends person to person though.

Also the spew hands you posted looks fine, you only need them to fold 40% or less to profit. the 5bet with Axs is also fine given you only need them to fold about 30% of the time with dead money already in the pot.

Thanks guys!

So quick update on the last 3 days since I'm exhausted as I just got back from the Sands.

Monday- Had my worst day playing wise and financially for online. I lost $900 for the day. $600 on my WSOP account was lost to mostly just spew and bad playing. I don't think my mental game is an alarming issue but I need to reassert it. I then lost about $300 on party where I played honestly B game solid nothing too bad,but just ran about 3 buyins under EV.

Not a good start to the week but hey it's always a new day in poker.

Tuesday:

Went to Sands at 9 am for an 11am tournament.

Played 1/2 for 1.5 hours and was dealt AA, KK, QQ 2x, JJ 2x and I still managed to lose a buy in based on brutal run outs. -$196

So bad start. However, I was feeling really good going into the 6 max tournament. I played my best poker, probably ever for this tournament. I got away from set over set twice in the tournament on generic boards and played a really efficient small ball game. I ended up part of a final table chop for $2,000 after about 12 hours of playing.

Today: The main event!

I jumped into right away which for the future probably wasn't the smartest things since the early levels really didn't mean too much. But I had a really weak table for most of the levels. I played overall above average but there were definitely a few mistakes where I could of had a much bigger stack going into day 2.

I ended up bagging 98.4K heading to 1.5/3k with 500 ante heading into day 2.

I'm gonna take mostly a day off tomorrow (light studying maybe a 2 hour session) after playing about 25 hours the last two days.

Friday and Saturday I'll be grinding Party online, Sunday and (hopefully) Monday I can make a deep run in the main.

Been a minute!

So overall I played a tournament series at the Sand including two tournaments: a 6-max and the Main Event 250k guaranteed.

I played some of my best poker in the 6 max. Getting set over set twice and losing minimal chips. From there it was really just cruise control and I kinda ran over a weak-passive table having me above average most of the tournament.

I got a lot more aggressive and 3 bet 62s which the BB who was shortstacked shoved for a bit more (one of my few mistakes). He had AA and of course I flop the flush and hold.

From there made it to the final table where I chopped as a shortstack for about 2k.

Played the main where I made it to day 2 short and then just received a great set of cards that had me peaking at about 70BB's 30 from the money. I then got involved in a cooler set over set situation which had me to about 5 BB's. Ran that back up to 40 BB. Then lost most of it on a really butchered hand by me, and a disaster ICM wise. Busted 13 from the money when I really shouldve cashed but live and learn!

Last two days I'm starting to pick it up and play well. Some hands of interest!

Like my line til the river...need to fold against a good reg
