Meh. I prefer live play, have a higher hourly there, and plenty of potential if my regular room starts to run $1/2 PLO again, they still run $2/5 PLO and $2/5 NLHE about twice a week.

My online BR is sufficient for my skill set at the moment, if it was just BR holding me back from moving higher, I'd consider it, but I think I'm well rolled for the games I currently feel most comfortable with.

If the live play doesn't work out, or that $800 remaining goes bust, I may just stick to online (the 45 min drive each way to the casino kinda sucks too).

Thank you for the input !

Haha . If only we all had the knowledge then that we have today. Unfortunately most the concepts that are common knowledge now (outside of the basics) were just starting to be formulated during the boom. Although, even without that knowledge it was super easy to profitz.

Anyways, played a good bit last night. Primarily $2-180s, $1-45s and some 10PLO 6max mixed in. Dropped about 2 BI's on PLO and continued to run absolutely atrocious in $2-180s. Managed to ship a 45 and take 2nd heads up in another.

Remember getting into a 3-way all in on $2-180's with AA just inside the money (like 16 left) I was #2 in chips, #1 shoves to iso a shorty on my BB. I have AA as #2 in chips and snap. Hits his K on the flop for KKK. Running about 400,000 chips below EV on the month and about a million lifetime now on $2-180s alone. Sick sick game.

Will be putting in some more volume tonight online. Really need to focus on getting the volume in so that I can teach variance a lesson. Also, running a little bit behind on maintaining silver star for this month so need about 450 more games to make sure I get there. Shouldn't be a problem, just been a bit lax with my volume since I started playing live again.

Will likely also mix in a small handful of MTT's into my session tonight, but drop out the 45 mans as they are really only volume fillers for me so I'm not sitting bored on 2-10 tables as I get my session loaded up.

MTT session will look something like: (times CST)

17:50 $5.50 NLHE Ante Up 3k GTD
18:00 $1.10 3k GTD
18:40 $4.40 NLHE 8-max 4k GTD
19:00 $3.30+R NLHE 40k GTD (maybe, good value tough on my buy-in though, probably cap myself with just initial and double to 3k, add on if i get there)
19:00 $1.10+R NLHE Turbo 8k GTD
19:15 $2.20 NLHE 4k GTD
19:40 $3.30 NLHE 8-max $1.5k GTD
7 games, $28.90 worth of buy-ins (3 per R), $4.12 average.

Don't want to start any games much later but I may. I am taking off work tomorrow to meet the breeder around 2PM and pick up the new puppy. Means I can sleep in til about 10AM but need to be will rested as I have about 10 hours worth of driving to do tomorrow.

I am also thinking about including $4.40 180s in my mix when I'm playing MTT's as I think I'd have a strong edge in those, would never play them alone though as they take too long to load and last too long (turbo ftw, sigh variance).

Anyways, until later.

MTt session last night was pretty much a bust. One cash for $6.25, only like $43 worth of buy-ins though.

On another note, I just realized that the WSOP circuit event is at the Horseshoe in Hammond the next two weeks.

I have a backer and will be playing at minimum 2 events over the next two weekends.

$150 nightly this Saturday at 7:00 PM.
$560 Event #9 next Saturday @ noon (2 day event)

Would like to play more but my schedule is just too hectic. Hoping for a little run good and perhaps earn me a seat to the regional main event and then a "challenge completed" update...lol

I can always hope...

If I happen to bust early next Saturday, I will likely hang around and play the extra soft cash games that should be running.

Best of luck to all.

Passed on the $150 nightly this weekend. Too much going on around the house. I am still scheduled to play the $560 Event #9 this upcoming Saturday. Run good one time.

Will be spending this week doing a ton of reading as well as playing a couple more MTT or HUSNG sessions. Will probably play live one night as well.

I received all of Jeff Hwangs 4 PLO books in the mail this weekend and I am learning a ton. I also have Slowhabits new PLO book (HERE) and am very excited to get into it. I read the first two chapters and am very impressed with the level of thinking that slow exhibits and articulates so very well in this book.

Looking forward to learning PLO a lot more and then start to crush.

My MTT Schedule for tonight is outlined below:

16:40 $4.40 NLHE 6k GTD (late reg)
17:00 $1.10 NLHE 4k GTD (late reg)
17:40 $2.20 NLHE 6-max Turbo 5k GTD
17:50 $5.50 NLHE Ante Up 3k GTD
18:00 $1.10 NLHE 3k GTD
18:40 $4.40 NLHE 8-max 4k GTD
19:00 $3.30 Rebuy NLHE 40k GTD
19:00 $1.10 Rebuy NLHE Turbo 8k GTD
19:15 $2.20 NLHE 4k GTD
19:40 $3.30 NLHE 8-max 1.5k GTD
20:00 $4.40 NLHE 3k GTD
20:15 $2.20 NLHE 6-max 3k GTD
20:40 $2.20 1R+1A NLHE 6k GTD

$49.40 total buy-ins, $3.09 average buy-in (buy-ins based on 3 buy-ins per rebuy) 13 games total.

Will likely mix in a couple of $4.40 180 mans into the mix as well. All of the above are on PokerStars.

I think Tuesday will be my night for live play, and then some HUSNG's on Wednesday. I know, I know, I know, pick a game and focus, I just fail at that for some reason. If I do really well Tuesday there's a chance I'll head back Wednesday and/or Thursday to play live. Want to get some more HUSNG's in as well though so I can set up a review session with Brokerstar.

Looking forward to shipping me a tourney tonight to get me back on track for 30k (well behind considering my first week was just straight losses...)

Best of luck to ya'll on the felt.

Managed to min-cash 3 games tonight. Also, I'm currently 2/10 about to head to the FT of a $2.20 PLO tourney (506 entrants). Could be a nice small score to put me ahead on the night.

Kinda glad I reg'd it, this thing is ridiculously soft. Played about 800 hands of PLO10 rush tonight as well and pretty much broke even (which is a nice change from being down anyways).

Going to try to get the tourney finished up quickly, and then do a little reading before I head to bed. Will all depend on how long this final table takes.

Couldn't quite take it down. Pulled off a second place though. Not bad for a nub to PLO in his 2nd ever PLO tourney =).

That makes for four cashes tonight totaling: $153.05. So about 300% ROI on the night. Just about covers my losses from last week playing MTTSNG's and MTT's.

Online BR: $1590
Live BR: $800

Back in the right direction we go.

Got 7 hours of play time in at Harrah's last night.

Everything was going well until about 4.5 hours into my session when the below happens.

Hero (SB): $360
BB: $190
UTG: X
UTG+1: X
MP1: $240
MP2: X
CO: $440
OTB: $150

Dealt to Hero: Q3

Preflop ($3): UTG calls $2, UTG+1 Folds, MP1 Raises to $7, MP2 Folds, CO Calls $7, OTB Calls $7, Hero Calls $6, BB Calls $5, UTG calls $5.

Flop ($37): Q73
Hero Checks, BB checks, UTG checks, MP1 Bets $15, CO folds, OTB folds, Hero raises $25 to $40 total, BB calls $40, UTG folds, MP1 Raises $40 to $80, Hero raises All-In, BB folds, MP1 calls.

Turn (~$545): 2

River: 2

Hero shows Q3 for two pair, queens and threes.
MP1 shows AA for two pair aces and deuces.

Basically, both MP1 and BB are fairly new to the table but appear to be competent young taggy individuals. Neither had been out of line or limping into many pots. I probably should have folded my Q3 suited preflop as I'm out of position, without initiative and will have a tough time making the best hand. As it is I called (mainly cause I tried to limp from the SB not noticing the raise and then said **** it and through the nickel out there too).

I hit my miracle flop and decide with all the action behind me a check raise should work the best to narrow the field. I proceed to check and the PFR'er leads out for a small bet, I see this smaller bet on his part as a sign of strength, and follow through with my plan to CR. I think my sizing was slightly poor, and $50 would probably have been a better number given the size of the pot, but hey, I wanted action with my top and bottom pairs so I kept it fairly cheap.

BB flats, this screams one of two things to me. Either a monster combo draw like A7 or 56 or he possibly already has a set, and if he reads the PFR'er as strong as I do, perhaps he is trapping. I am definitely leaning towards a draw though. PFR'er makes a small re-raise back to me, which pretty much narrows his range to AA, KK, QQ, AQ or 77.

I am well ahead of that range and decide to commit. I choose to shove it in rather than let BB get priced in on his draw (depending on how big it is) BB tank folds and MP1 snaps with the AA. BB later confesses to 46 so it looks like my reads were dead on.

Overall last night, I was extremely happy with my play. Despite this sick cooler and dropping all of my profit and an additional $70 on this one hand, I managed to claw my way back from $130 back up to $263 over the course of another 2 hours or so.

Profit of $63 in 7 hours on the night, if only I could have avoided that runner runner, would have been in the neighborhood of $400-500. Oh well though, very happy with my play, I was picking my double/triple barrel spots quite well, my value bet sizes seemed to be perfect to get villains to call, my bluffs were being folded to (showed half of em, especially two / three river bluffs) and then proceeded to get paid phat value every time I bet the river.

Outside of that hand, also had 35s flop two pair and get busted by a gutshot, QQ lost OTR to A9 (straight to the J), etc. Not a bad night considering I was once again not running great.

Not sure what the plan is for tonight, didn't sleep much so tired as **** at work at the moment, but we'll see how I'm feeling later, may head back to play live, take the night off to study more PLO, play an MTT schedule, HUSNG's, or maybe some PLO, who knows, but I do like my variety of options.

P.S. I've been buying up BAP's actively again so my BR will be changing frequently, will update every week or so with live and online rolls to keep a running total for ya'll.

Running an MTT schedule tonight (below). Found myself a backer to buy up 75% of my action for the evening. Tourneys that are bolded are ones that I would not typically play due to bank roll constraints but will be playing tonight (Daily Dollar is the exception, don't usually play it cause the rest of my micro action is on Stars, not worth loading up FTP for just one $1 BI event IMO).

I feel I am very +EV in all of these events, just always been a bit of a BR issue I guess with the $9+ buy-ins. Run goot one time baby !

Actually took the night off last night. After a late night at Harrah's on Tuesday, I just wasn't feeling up to it. My head was pounding pretty much all yesterday afternoon and didn't think playing a good size MTT session would have been very wise. Will be running that package tonight instead.

Was nice to actually get more than 5-6 hours of sleep in a night for a change.

Looking forward to at least one FT tonight /cross fingers.

As an update to the total challenge as a whole since it began...

Week of 10/10-10/16
Net: -$318
22 hours played

So far this week I am +$166 and looking forward to a good grind tonight. Even with having taken last night off, due to my long sessions Monday and Tuesday, I will be over 20 hours for the week as of tonight, and then include my play in the $560 this weekend and I will likely break 40 hours for the week in 5 days of play time.

Happy with my progress so far, while I am actually down a few dollars, that one pot in Tuesdays cash game could have made all the difference. Very happy with the level I have been playing at (particularly live, it's been tough for me to slow down and think about things more rather than just go with a knee jerk reaction and bet because I feel I should, or because I know villain should fold but then realize he's incapable, etc, etc, etc...). Feel I am at the top of my game currently and looking forward to putting it to work in some large field MTT's this evening.

Thank you to all for the continued support.

Last nights MTT session was decent, didn't make much of anything but came out positive. Felt I was playing great once again but unfortunately ran into a hand full of coolers and card dead stretches.

Best cash was a 25th place finish in the $3r 40k GTD for ~$100. Very close to a good sized score.

Had two other min-cashes as well to finish with about $123 in cashes off $106 in buy-ins. Once again, very happy with the way I played, never even felt the tilt monkey calling my name, managed to focus the entire time and believe I played my A game the entire 8 hour session.

Also, I noticed as I finished up last night, that PokerStars actually has some full ring PLO games that run (unlike FTP). I may dabble a bit with those going forward as my 6 max PLO game still needs a lot of work but my FR game feels very solid.

Obviously looking to improve my 6 max game for the long term but for now, I just want to get some more experience in both.

Can't wait til the $560 Event #9 at the Horseshoe tomorrow. Looks like they've had some fantastic turnouts for their events so far there this circuit. I'm projecting between 600 and 1000 players, although event #1 had 1600...

Would be a silly good score to take that down lol.

Until next time all.
