Nice goals for November, if you manage to run a 20% ROI in 1k games you'll reach $150 easily. Good luck! Anyways, just on a side note, if I were you I would just focus on volume, don't worry about money goals, as longs as you're a winning player volume will add those $ to your cashier. 45s can be unpleasant, even at these stakes you can go through 500 or even 1k games breakeven so just put your mind on volume...

About the daily updates, I'll try to help you on that, I'll visit this often to make sure you're posting!

Relating your GF, if she's a pain-in-the-ass relating your poker game, buy her a nice present with poker money, at least she'll look at your game with a different perspective (that worked for me at least...)

Yeah, agree with you about volume. That money target is just to try and keep myself pushing forward as fast as I can. Regarding GF, she respects the fact that I play a game in which you need to study and challenge yourself to win and she likes the fact that someday I could make some serious money Not sure how it will affect our lifestyle once we start living together, as right now I still live with my parents and so is she. Anyway we'll see how next year turns out. I'm striving to keep this thread alive, so thanks for visiting my blog regularly, at least I know it is appreciated by someone who has similar aspirations

Don't give up on the thread, it's probably the best place for you to go when you're running bad, the advice people give you here can help you going through more complicated "swingaments"...

Besides, I've been playing poker since 2009 and I've always been too lazy to write my own thread or follow others, so it's something I want to change in myself as well...

Same here

Think we are in a very similar position. I never really ventured enough in these forums and I was always too f****** lazy to sit on a chair and start writing down my own thread. I have made an early resolution for next year which I intend to maintain and that is stop being lazy, become consistent with good BR management and study the game. Think I am finally managed to do so :-)

Update 7: 2/11/2011

First time in a week since I played after a working day. Finally partially recovered from my illness, so can play fully focused again. Had a very very very busy day today. Woke up at about 8.00 and worked till 17.00.

Back home, had a quick shower, ate something then started grinding. Loaded up 24 tables like yesterday. I tried to stack them all the way, however I found tiling works the best for me. Whilst it is true that stacking makes you avoid looking at showdowns (therefore possible tilt potential after bad beat), I stuck in my head the fact that suck outs will always happen. Sometimes they are in your favor, sometimes not. How many times have we moaned about our Kings getting f**** up by some A2 / 33? However, how many times do we feel guilty when we pushed that A-2, get called by T-T and eventually win? Answer? NEVER........ So bottom line is, tilt shouldn't even play a part in my game and it makes no difference to me whether I lose with KK against A-2, or 66 against 33. As long as it was +ev, I'm 100% happy.

Anyway, enough with that.... These are my results from today's session:

Beginning Bankroll: $68.05
Ending Bankroll: $77.61
Session Profit/Loss: $9.56

Graph after 149 tournaments:

Overall Profit/Loss: $26.96
Overall per hour: $2.31

If any one can notice, this was my best day so far. It shows that I'm back to my normal routine. plus I'm becoming more confident in these 45's. Never thought they could be so easy to grind. Let's just hope that lady variance keeps treating me well (So far she did a good job).

Gonna watch some champions league tonight (I'm a football fanatic I know). I support Juve, but currently they can't compete in the CL, so gonna watch other teams tonight

That's all for today. Gl guys, hope you run good at the tables

See yaaaaa

Update 8: 3/11/2011

Nah, what a bad day this was. Everything seems turning up against me today. Got a discussion with my girlfriend, fell off the stairs (nothing serious though), rained as ***** all day, but anyway..... Tomorrow is a new day! Right?

Obviously, didn't run good @ the virtual tables either:

Beginning Bankroll: $77.61
Ending Bankroll: $75.01

Session Profit/Loss: -$2.60

After 173 tournaments:

Overall Profit/Loss: $24.36
Overall per hour: $1.84

Taking the rest of the night off, whilst watching this vid to chill out a bit.... Tomorrow is a new day!

Gonna be taking a little break from everything in general this weekend. So I took off yesterday and tomorrow as well. Today morning is where I am going to play a session of 45's. Coming again later with an update.

Certainly not the start I had in mind for November. One thing I am lacking though is volume, as time is very scarce ATM. One adjustment I'll be making is playing less tables at once. I am going to start out with 15 maximum. Once I reach that number, I will stop registering. This way I can concentrate more on the final tables I reach. If there's still time in my session, I'll load up more tournaments if I get knocked out off a few, however still not over passing 15 tables at once.

Tomorrow is my day off from everything, so no poker. Next week's gonna be a sick grind if I want to keep up with my targets. Anyway, happy weekend guys good luck with your games!

Update 10: 6/11/2011

Played a small session before going to sleep. Made some profit, but failed to capitalize on some good final tables. Failed to win a tournament and made 3 third place finishes. Cannot win a tournament lately lol. Something to work on I guess. Anyway here's how I did:

Beginning Bankroll: $76.38
Ending Bankroll: $78.24
Session Profit/Loss: $1.86

Overall Profit/Loss: $27.59

Update 11: 7/11/2011

Hey guys whats uppppppp?

I started off this week very well. It's an official new best day and so far I'm in line with my goals. However I don't want to be rushed with money goals, as long as I play well I am happy. Made loads of final tables today as well, still I can improve my end game further. Also, I am 24 tabling very comfortably, which means I can put a good amount of games in one session. Thinking about taking a day off tomorrow, but hopefully in the coming two days I can reach the $100 mark :-)

Session Results:

Beginning Bankroll: $78.24
Ending Bankroll: $90.97

Session Profit/Loss: $12.73

Graph after 250 tournaments:

Overall Profit/Loss: $40.32
Overall Hourly: $2.15

Hey it seems that we both are making good progress, hopefully we both can reach the hundred mark in the next few days,
Btw, how do u play 24 tables? U keep 24 tables open even one busts out?
Or just let them bust out?

I never tried more, but I do feel exhausted keeping 10 tables open with 3~4 on final table!

I was with the final table with u last night!

Update 12: 9/11/2011

Hey guys, had another good session today. Nearly reached my first milestone of $100, so quite happy that after 10 days I have managed to double my initial roll. If I keep up with this pace, it should be no problem to moving up a level at the end of November.

Half way through this month I'm gonna post an update of my goals and see if I'm failing in something. Curious to hear about your goals guys, if you have any feel free to post!

Also gonna say a big thank you to all those people that are following my thread, as they are a big motivation for me. My play has become really consistent since becoming a regular in these forums, never thought I could become this good just by posting in a personal thread and discussing poker with others. Never too late to learn, isn't it?

Leaving you with today's results:

Beginning Bankroll: $90.97
Ending Bankroll: $98.59

Session Profit/Loss: $7.53

Graph after 274 tournaments:

Overall Profit/Loss: $47.85
Overall Hourly: $2.34

Usually I just tile all the tables on my screen. I feel more comfortable playing like that. When I bust out, TN just closes the table automatically. For some reason I don't know my play tends to become better with 24 tables instead of lets say 10. Think at one point today I had like 10 final tables + 10 other tournaments which were like half way through. I feel that weather to play 24, 10 or any other x amount of tables, depends entirely on the player. I mean, there is no correct amount of tables you should be playing at once, just play as you feel comfortable. It's no use playing 40 at once when you know you will eventually become exhausted half way through the tournaments.... Do as you feel it is best for you

And yeah, I saw you at the final table last night, but couldn't chat as I had too many tables open and didn't want to miss some important spots.

See you at the tables dude!

Hi Steve,

GL with your goals.

My goals are fairly similar....micro stakes SNG's, low volume due to work commitments etc.

You've been subbed!

Thanks man. It's really not easy to play poker in the remaining few hours of the day after work. So far I've done fairly well, even though I must admit that sometimes I feel very tired when I play. Who knows, maybe someday my efforts will get rewarded

What a sick session. Wanted to get past the $100 mark so bad, ended up making only 4c profit lol. Guess I was too obsessed with that milestone, ended up playing bad/not as good as usual. Whatever, tomorrow I have to go to a wedding, so I think I'll only be playing a small session sometime in the day.

I'm confident to finish this week @ $110 plus, so gonna be grinding back on Saturday/Sunday, hoping for a good session. I have to think in terms of volume and good play, not think about money targets too much. Trying to always play my A game, that's the important thing that counts.

Yupeeeeeee hit my first milestone. Finally past the $100 mark.... Seems so stupid, but I am actually excited that I am moving forward with my challenge. For the first time in my short poker 'career' I feel confident and disciplined when I play. This goes to show that being here is the biggest +ev move that an aspiring poker player could do.

Session was quite good as well, although as usual I am very unlucky when it comes to final tables. Could have made a couple more top two finishes for sure. But that's poker and as long as I play my A-game I'm happy with every bad beat I take.

A little bit about life at the moment... My girlfriend's sister's wedding went great yesterday, had loads of fun with the family, which helped me relieve some stress accumulated throughout the week. Gonna go watch film at the cinema tonight, probably I'll see 'Abduction'... Looks very good indeed.

Hey guys, whats up??

Been a while since I last updated, since I didn't have much time available. Still managed to play some poker so will do an update of the last two days. I'm not running good at all ATM due to playing bad and variance in general. So, lets see if I'm in line with my goals for November, which were the following:

1. Have $150 in my bankroll and eventually move up to the $1.50 games

Still doable IMO, though I need to run very good in the next two weeks.

2. Play at least between 1000-1500 45man tournaments

So far, I have played 395 SNGs. Still realistic goal, but I need to get in more sessions if I want to achieve that volume.

3. Make daily updates to this thread

Have failed the couple past days, but on d whole I'm keeping this thread updated, I am happy so far.

4. Keep working on my game and review my sessions at least twice a week

Well, I am not studying a lot, mainly due to lack of free time. Something to work upon.

5. Spend more time with GF (never wanted poker to take over my life)

Happy that I am managing to hang out with her like at least 4 times a week

6. Make friends with other poker players on these forums

This goes with the time management issue. However I'm sure that if I keep my thread alive, this won't be a problem.

That pretty much sums up my month so far, got a lot of work to do with my game, though I don't want to rush things. Pleased that I managed to double my bankroll so far and this is very important for me.

Now to the session update of these last two days:

SNG's played: 73

Beginning Bankroll: $103.95
Ending Bankroll: $94.86

Session Profit/Loss: $-9.09

Graph after 395 tournaments:

Overall Profit/Loss: $44.12
Overall Hourly: $1.54
