I'm in about 10 dividend etfs, most are financially based i get about 10% off of them but beware of dividend traps wherein you buy in and the share price plummets. this happened to me with SNH recently

Oh, of course, but when I invest, my chief concern is safety/stability. It's like how I don't play a full schedule of bracelet events every summer, I just pick the 10-12 highest value ones. I get enough of gambling out of actually gambling, I want to make sure that when I want to retire I can do so comfortably.

who here actually had a mortgage go underwater in the 2008-09 crash? half of you probably were in junior high or grade school back then. That crash wiped out alot of home equity and people had to rebuild. or perhaps your family was affected.

That's real money management.

What are you talking about? Home equity isn't money in the bank. At the lowest, I lost 200k in home equity but it didn't negatively effect me (except obviously for mentally) because I didn't sell my house. And actually I was able to refi my mortgage to a lower rate so technically it saved me a small amount of money. You'd have a point if the market stayed at it's lowest point, but pretty much everyone know that the market would eventually bounce back and houses are naturally one of those things where you sit on your equity for a long time since you're actively using them to live in.

Growth > 'passive' dividend streams.
Capital gains and a balanced portfolio. indexes grow as well as pay a dividend.

If you got 40 years even 200k will grow to a pretty big chunk as long as you reinvest all the dividends and don't withdraw.

Well you were lucky. Alot of people foreclosed and took the hit rather than continue paying into a depreciating house. So they lost all the equity they had paid into the house so far.

Markets bounce back but that takes time. It would take a decade or so to get back. If you had to move, lost your job, or some major life event happened you may not be able to wait it out.

Lots of people went the bankruptcy route rather than doing the right thing.

Better start peeping DIS - going to start resembling NFLX price after they roll out their streaming service (they have and advantage over Netflix here, if just the content alone)

Also, keep an eye on that SBUX, appears that the Chinese market has discovered coffee - there were thoughts that Luckin Coffee may have the upper hand in China (opened last year and already 2,000+ stores), but I'd rather go long on SBUX

GL RAYZ!!

GL RAYZ!!

It’s fun to follow.
Speaking of Netflix, saw Grass Is Greener last night. An informative and interesting doc about the culture, history, and trend of marijuana. Didn’t realize how much systematic racism played into the weed movement.

+$18 on 4.5 hours today. Up as high as $30 and low as much as $200.
One of those days where I practiced my fold techniques. There was a spot on the table that I was trying to land them in for a while. After that, we went w the square em up then 1 finger tap. Every now and then, I douched it up w a high helicopter toss.

Life/Poker Roll barely $500ish...maybe $480. We need a gd score tomorrow!

Did you see Neeme is looking for $2/$5 or $5/$10 at the Boat this afternoon/evening? He was asking what the chances were that it would run today on his IG last night. I know that PLO is pretty strong on Weds but maybe we could get $2/$5. I'm heading over after work tonight in hopes that a bigger game runs.
