Hi,

I wanted to start a new challenge, but it’s more of a short-term and new thing for me. I will learn a game in 30 game days(30x 8 hours) and 40 days. Why? Just out of curiosity, I am a bit bored of grinding the same game forever(MTTs aka tournaments), and I felt like I need a new challenge for fun, so let’s try this. I will give myself 40 days to become as good as possible in one game format and then move on to another game or do something else. Either way, I think it should be fun, that’s the key. If life isn’t fun anymore, do something else!

I will start with Spin&Go’s. I have a little experience from the past, but I wanted to learn more, so I felt like it would be an exciting game to start with.

The game plan:

1. Start from minimal stakes and move up when I crush the stake.

2. I will not look into results when playing the lowest stakes because I will move up to a higher level very quickly; I need to gain a bit of general knowledge of how the game works and so on before stepping up to a higher level. (That’s what super low stakes are good for!)

3. I will start with $5 Spin&Go's and then hopefully move up to $50. That is the goal. If things go too well, I might take shots at $100, but the goal is to end up making a good profit so most likely I won't be taking aggressive shots at $100.

4. Volume playing on $20-$50 level Spin&Go's.

5. The end goal would be to make a steady profit (If possible) from Spin&Go’s.

6. Beat the game, make a good profit, and move on.

Solving a game DAY 1: Where to begin?

Good question. I think my first answer is: pre-flop ranges. What the hell am I supposed to call here? What am I supposed to raise here? What am I supposed to 3bet here? What am I supposed to go all-in with there? What should I limp there?

Pre-flop is the most crucial part you need to know first. That’s why we have these beautiful solvers we can use. You can calculate the optimal ranges. Another option is to buy ranges from someone. I think both are fine, but I believe calculating ranges myself because that’s where the future is: The people who know how to control programs will always have a job. (at least for now).

So first part: Find out what hands I am supposed to play in a certain position/situation. Then find out how the population plays. Are there any adjustments I should make to my ranges?
All right, let the calculating begin..

How's it going on the SPINS?
Personally I don't like them and the only ones I play are ones awarded on PP newyear's promo.

For some new inspiration for you.... maybe you should look into mentoring an old Grandpa who has a few days per week to play MTT's. His success story could lead to decent advertising???
And no... my 2020 had almost zero MTT's played. Life schedule got in the way & just played micro/low cash games all year. BUT... 2021.... Could be the year I go from $5 abi MTT to crushing C.Darwin (maybe you could too... with some inspiration watching an old dog learn new tricks).
.... of course we could be streaming this on Twitch too (along with some HH analysis).
