Ok, so I have been working on the website for the last week or so, writing some content, polishing a couple of things and changing a few layout things. I am creatively terrible, so its not easy. I found a name I liked and went with it, hopefully it will grow on people but I dont want it to be the reason people click or dont click on the site.

http://wugwug.com/

In the site you have my Blog where I will be updating every few weeks.

http://wugwug.com/category/blog/

And then I will be doing free content, interviews with players and podcasts.

There is absolutely no way for me to monetery gain right now from the site. I explain all my reasons in the blog and thus linking here should be fine, let me know if otherwise true mods but people link to their blogs all the time on signatures etc.

The content will be what I will hope is "easy read" content that is actually very viable. In poker I often see the following two things

1- Content that is so advanced and is only appreciated by very few people
2- Content that is just so simple that its boring

I want to be somewhere in the middle there where I dont write about GTO or super complex math problems but I write lots of articles about delicate parts of the game that I feel people struggle with. I will be making free videos for all stakes and will really be trying to make it very active.

As well as the strategy content I want to introduce cool people to you. There are SO many characters playing poker that you would never know or ever associate to play poker. I will try to interview as many of these guys as possible. The In The Tank is empty right now, but just done an interview with "Coopah" and should be a pretty fun read.

Ill of course still be a very active member of this community and keep posting all throughout the forum as well as in this thread. Lots and lots of love here

Or as I summed it up on Facebook...

Today I launched http://wugwug.com/

It will be a free site with free relevant, advanced content, cool interviews and industry topical podcasts. It is a direct response to arrogant, mediocre poker sites that try to monetize pretty meh content from money driven authors. Hopefully the days of considering the EV of posting strategy on the same forums and sites that got you to where you are today will be soon forgotten and we can start to enjoy the game and help others enjoy the game again.

There is already a bunch of strategy articles, my first blog explaining the site and some podcasts there. Spread the love and join my crusade!

Good luck with your new endeauvour in regard to your website. Seems like a different approach (as you described) to giving content to the poker players

Nice effort man, but please don't act as if you didn't gain monetarily from releasing strat advice for free as you have a degree in journalism and you benefit from getting work done in your field and keeping your skills sharp while playing poker. Adds nicely to your resume.

Hey, I actually have turned down money and wrote strategy for free and continue to do so.

Have also had lots of offers from different websites and turned them all down because of their motivation for their sites.

I work for PokerStrategy.com and joined them because they were starting to really think about poker ecology and I actually worked for 18 months as a poker ecologist trying to help the room improve their conditions for players.

I did journalism because I enjoyed it, this led me to a very nice job of a financial journalist, which I then left to go and do poker ecology. For around 3 years I played probably 20% fo the volume I could have because I was trying my best to help the poker ecology and found it fascinating.

Im by no means an angel dont get me wrong, but the guys who have made sites recently arent poker players and dont care about poker palyers. Their sites have rakeback deals thrown all over them and reading in bed one night the site I was like REALLLLLLLY? and started creating this site.

Your new website and the idea to give something back is simply ****ING ****ING AMAZING.
I just have to tell you now how much I love your character, how long I've been reading all your blogs and stuff, watching your videos and learning from it. (ps.com, 2+2 etc)
Thanks a lot!
I'm definitely in on your new website and press F5 at least 100 times a day haha.

Hope I can learn more and more from your content, atm on nl25 / nl50 but hopefully soon on 100. Looking forward to climbing higher stakes

Great contribution!!! Only, dont you have the feeling the more such sites exist, the harder competition gets? At least we earn money with those strats. But still love yor engagement, just not sure, how long we can survive in this business with that good of content as such in your blog. Very selfish, i know, but beside the fun, I play poker to pay my bills. You describe yorselfe to be a pokerecologist. What is your approach?

All the best for you and your dogs!i

I think that as players if we do the right thing and as sites we do the right thing and as coaches we do the right thing, then good will prevail and poker will continue.

Right now we have a tremendous decline in poker due to governements but also due to the way that poker is being run from the top down (I exclude stars)

Example, ipoker skin a few years ago had a good position in the stock market. Their share holders would receive detailed information regarding Sports Book, Casino and Poker. Sports Book and Casino was always good and in poker they had some really big rakers. They were poached by another room and the poker room eventually gave them a huge rakeback deal that put profits down but they could still say "Turnover is X and steady" as the promotions would always make profit higher or lower (WSOP packages, rake races etc) and these few rakers got 120% rakeback which would probably be 10s of thousands and the guy in his office kept his job.

If they spent 50k a month bringing in recreational players then it would be way better for the long term of their room AND the long term of poker.

Its kinda similar to poker, if we make forums dead, if we make poker boring and if we dont make fun things to read then who knows what will happen? If we strive to maximise the potential of his ridiculously interesting, deep and fun game then perhaps we as a community can help it last longer.

The iPoker skin is now dead I think or at least not on iPoker, Stars is still here and Id bet will be here way longer than any of the guys just thinking about "today"

That´s pretty sick. Any cool Gareth Bale stories you want to share? Was it obvious at the time that he was a huge talent? Etc etc.

Can´t believe you dropped this and nobody even bothered to react to it lol.

I'm not sure if you're English or not but I'm Wales they speak a different language. Whenever he was with us he'd obviously speak English but then they would add welsh words in. One of the main ones was "tidy" pronounced more like tidiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" and then whenever I would go back home to newcastle (opposite end of England) I would say tidy and my friends would find it hilarious.

He didn't stand out, he was a left back with good technique and great at set pieces. We did this set piece thing where I would cross from left and he'd cross frommthemright and we both had to stand over the ball at the same time on both sides. He wasn't quick, which seems silly now but his pace comes from his strength, similar to Ronaldo rather than messi who is more "quick".

There was Adam lallana, theo Walcott, Nathan dyer, Leon best and a few others in the academy at the time. Probably the best in England.
