I used to rely on poker as a sole source of income but not played seriously for a few months now, just fishbowled around with a few tiny deposits.

Currently out of work so with a lot of hours melting away into oblivion I should probably do something that can be considered productive whilst I find employment.

Not flush at the moment so just starting with a small deposit and I'll see where that leads.





I've wiped my extensive collection of player notes and all my previous HUD stats. Probably going to nittard it up at 10nl zoom fr for a while and then decide what to do from there.

First few sessions gone decent. Managed to make a small profit whilst readjusting to the games so that's nice. Not too fussed about dropping down to 5 or even 2nl if needs must so not really focusing on results too much.

Graph is mostly 10nl zoom FR apart from a few hands I played at 2nl by mistake. 1c off accurate.



Just using a very simple HUD at the moment. Decided to effectively start from scratch and then add stats whilst I go. Right now the stats mean very little anyway but with another few sessions I'm sure they'll grow in use.

Quite enjoying being able to sitout when there's a tricky spot or when I need to make notes. Zoom has drawbacks of course but there's some really cool advantages too!

5. Readless. Not sure I like these limps without good reason. Started off using them from earlier positions but now I'm generally just folding or opening. When the stats grow I guess I'll start having a better shot at guessing what to do. Gota be careful in zoom though cus the fast fold option means you gota be super way of RIOs.

Not played that much last few days. Managed to find a job pretty easily which I start on Monday, duno if I just run good but seems to me all the white people here blaming immigrants for not being able to get work might just be talking ****. I got a three year gap on my CV where I put "Online Equity Analyst" and I don't seem to have problems at all, though admittedly it's low paid menial work but then that's the kind of work the whites are complaining they can't get...

But ye, volume hasn't been good but I don't really care this is just a casual thing anyway and I don't envisage I would go pro again unless I was beating say 100nl for a good clip. Obviously I'm a gazillion miles from that point.

2. Tried to isolate the fish flatting in LP. The reg who CC was a nit and the opener was a nit aswell so didn't see much point in cbetting. Probably missed value on the river.

3. Feel like I did decently to not go bust here, not good enough to just fold though haha. Without the stats obv I get stacked.

Got just over 22 BIs so I guess if I drop 10 BIs then I'll drop down to 2nl for a bit and recover.

Not played much just a few sessions. Pretty bleh, finding it tough as there's a lot of aggression but I have so few stats that I'm constantly having to battle not to fall into the trap of assuming everybody is exploiting me even though the current players are different to the guys from earlier.


5nl 6m zoom so far. Pretty close to accurate, not sure why it's not 100% acc. but I'm making a conscious decision now to stop caring.

Done two days at this new job now which I'm happy about because the first few days at a new place for me really suck as it tweaks my social anxiety. Feel comfortable there already though, it's a trophy wholesalers so I'm in the warehouse assembling trophies and just general warehouse duties. I think it's good for me right now because I'm on my feet exercising and there's a carrot being dangled in the form of a stable wage.

Would love to still be grinding F/T but for a variety of reasons it just wasn't making me happy or providing me with anywhere near the sort of living I'd need to be earning to live the life I want to live. Normal work can provide me with that and the main thing I'm after right now is a place of my own to live. Being 25 and living in a bungalow with your parents and your grandad isn't fun. I feel like a little boy in a man's body but got something exciting in the pipeline so I guess I will talk about that if it comes through.


Will try to grind 500 hands a day over the next few days as I am enjoying it.

Played like a bit of a gimp last few sessions. There's a hand in particular where I basically played worse than a fish and I was conscious of it but didn't give two ****s which is very unlike me. It's weird because when I was playing for a living I always prided myself on trying to bring my A-game whatever the stakes.

I'll post that hand anyway because I've come to believe in recent times that looking like a fool is good for the soul providing you're willing to improve.

1. This is the cringe-worthy hand. Obv I know it's awful and c/r-jam achieves nothing. I genuinely had the mindset of "ah **** it it's only $5 let's fishbowl" which is obviously a horrendous way to think at any level. Nice river though.


2. Same player from hand 1 a short while later. This hand is way more interesting!

Thought it was weird when he didn't cbet and was wary that he might've been steaming. When he c/c I felt his range was maybe some strong Ax (though it's rare for players at this level to be good enough to c/c AJ here imo), some pps <9s and some middle/bottom pairs.
Turn I bet for value again feeling like I can still get value from a bunch of his flop c/c range as my bet on Jx looks bluffy. River bet basically same reasoning as turn. I tried to bet an amount that looks like it's trying to force a fold.
When he makes the small c/r I'm hating life but tank-called because his line just doesn't make sense. Even if he has backdoored a flush surely he's going to c/jam right!? Thought for a while and factored in that he was maybe steaming from before, and he was maybe aware that my line looked like a bluff.
Probably the most interesting hand I've played since starting this thread. (that I'm aware of at least)



3. Almost called but then remembered it's 5nl so it's not unreasonable to think a player could have Kx here and then go for the c/r.


4. Tank-called this. The turn sizing made me feel like something wasn't adding up. Don't want to be too harsh on myself here because by the looks of things he was turning his hand into a bluff without catching OTR.

Think I mentioned already that I've started a new job. It's just general warehouse/assembly-line work for a trophy wholesalers. Not glamorous and low paid but it's Monday to Friday which is nice. I've completed my first week there now and settling in nicely so hopefully in a month or so they will decide to set me on permanent and give me a pay-rise!

Also, went to view a house in the week but it wasn't quite right for me. Really focused on getting my own place in the very near future because it's something I've wanted for a long time but haven't had the monetary ability to make it happen without moving into a shared house, and tbh there's no way I'm doing that again!

Played for an hour or so today. Had fun and played decent, a little spewy towards the end but w/e. Ran really good in one spot which accounts for the biggest spike.

1. Biggest winner. Obv his hand is faceup when he 3bs turn but I'm assuming we have IO. He tanked all the way.

3. Biggest losing hand. A bit unlucky, guy had fairly loose stats albeit over a small sample.


4. Went for a weird, FPS bluff against a guy who almost certainly had the nuts. Was tempted to call to find out haha.


5. Not cbetting flop is prob a mistake but a slightly interesting hand, at least for the stakes.


6. Got pooned here. River might be a fold.


7. I'm quite bad for missing value in spots but quite like how this one worked out.

Got a busy week ahead with work and then playing squash a few times in the evenings. Will try to get a reasonable number of sessions in though. When next weekend comes I really wana go for some bigger sessions because I think having deep stacks against fish with similar in these games is the situation you should be looking to put yourself in.


Also, for anyone interested in music I bought this album off ebay for <£3 and it's ****ing amazing. If anyone reading liked Daft Punks first then they'll this. There's a couple of instantly recognisable songs but as a collective piece it's verging on genius.

1. Biggest winner. No idea what they're doing OTR. Possibly repping the flush with the nf-blocker? Seems bad cus a bunch of boats just got there and if I'm a fish with KQ or KT here I'm probably gona tank-call anyway.


2. I actually almost folded here, obv not good enough though. Was really expecting to see another set.


3. Almost folded. Biggest losing hand. Basically readless. Think I'm getting decent enough odds OTR to call and hope it's a fish playing a weak A badly or just generally spazzing.


4. This is what happens when reading slowitdown. Probably almost always lolbad at this level but w/e.


5. Tank-called here because it felt polarised, but looking now it looks pretty shoddily played by me. Lots of value to be had OTF, gota cbet.

1. Biggest winner. Gota admit I checked his location before calling. Saw Germany and snap-called obv. Also factored in that anyone who has the slightest clue is jamming quads on this river at these stakes. Fun play by them.


2. Readless. Feel like I can get folds from some Jx and any TT-88 that might've called flop, and obv we have a bunch of outs. On the river I think bluffing would be pretty bad so just check and pray he has what he had. Obv running good when these pots come my way.


3. Readless on the squeezor and sb had a mobile/tablet symbol showing so thought just flatting seemed smartest. Not betting the river might be a mistake?


4. Biggest loser. Open-limp is a rando but has a mobile symbol so seemed likely that it'll be a decent spot to iso.

Got a busy next few days. Two days of work + a game of squash tomorrow night and then gona go checkout that new movie about Stephen Hawking on Friday evening as I've heard it's good, and then on Sunday I'm heading up to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to see Stoke City play. Will make an effort to get some volume on Saturday as it's the only day where I've got a bunch of free time for a while.

4. This might be bad by me. Same person as hand above. After the AA flat hand against me they seemed to be 3betting my opens a lot. There was a spot where I opened BTN, they 3b from sb, bb cold-4b, I folded then this player 5b-piled and bb folded. Just had a feeling they might've been going a bit nuts but more than likely I played spazzy here and ran good.


5. It's a shame I didn't pile river. More rungood though!


6. Seems like bb is capable of having a bunch of stuff I beat in this spot but might be bad cus odds are pretty poor.


7. Weird spot v rando. Seemed spazzy but considering a bunch of the fds that might spazz and do this are blocked it made calling harder.

9. Guess I pwned myself here. Should probably be smaller OTR aswell.


10. This is the big drop at the end of the session. They instantly bet all 3 streets. Not sure I can fold here though. Maybe TT/AK/AA play this way and maybe there's some weird spazzes or some less obvious 2prs in there.

Almost certainly won't be grinding tomorrow, heading up to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to see Newcastle United v Stoke City so that's basically a full day. Stoke and Newcastle have an agreement where they only charge the other club's away supporters £20 for adults and £5 for concessions, and my club lay on free coaches for all our away games so seems like pretty awesome value!

Will play at least 500 hands on Monday night after work though so will post after that.

Not played today, just got back from a long day of following Stoke City. We equalised in the last minute away at Newcastle United to earn a deserved 1-1 draw. I'll post a few pictures for anyone who might be interested because it's quite a cool stadium.

Got a really busy week coming up, work every day but also squash on Tuesday and Thursday evening. Need to start training for a 10k I'm running in April too so will be running the other three nights but I'll try to play at least three 500+ hand sessions. Cheers bro, ye decent result for sure cus it keeps us above them in the top half. It was the least we deserved from an admittedly poor match where we looked marginally stronger. From what I hear you're a Blackburn Rovers supporter, we're bringing 7k+ to your gaff on Saturday! Sadly I won't be one of them cus the tickets sold out in a matter of hours and sitting on your hands in the home end isn't quite the same.

Roll has more than doubled though technically I'm a dirty cheat because I deposited $15 for the spin'n'go ticket bundle and have been grinding those for the shootout tickets. Made a little from them but earnt the big freeroll ticket now so no more of that, my poor little can't take the excitement!!

Decided to grind a small sesh inbetween squash and bed. Think it's best to squeeze some hands in here and there rather than try a mad grind to hit my monthly goals because right now my poker-stamina is really low.

3. Decided to go for full value hoping they had spiked an A and wouldn't be able to fold. Worked out nice, so happy not to see a boat/quads.


4. So strange and bad that they didn't cbet on this board, especially considering I viewed them as a rando so surely they thought I was a rando too!?


5. Think my vbet might be bad but then again some weirdly 3b 1pr type hand might call so not so sure?


6. A hand where I lose unluckily just for balance within all this rungood.


7. SNAP-BET T+R so I guess I gota fold based on previous experience vs zoom snap-bets. I'll often just fold here against randos (nit alert) but sb was on a mobile/tablet so I couldn't resist.

Been lazy and not started my 10k training yet (facepalm) so decided to grind another 1k+ hand session tonight. 2/4 for that monthly goal now.

Didn't play too good, made a few silly plays here and there but quietly relieved to have not lost. Right now my poker stamina is low so any goals I set in the future won't contain that sort of thing but I believe I'm still +ev in these games when jaded so won't bother quitting the goal.


Thursday 12th February

1. Biggest winner. Opponent went into snap c/c mode even on river so I fishmarked them.


2. Biggest loser. Tiny sample told me guy was opening frequently and had flatted two 3bs so I suspected I could get value PF. Decided to fire away but got snap-called down which was a bit annoying but then again my postflop line doesn't look too impressive either. Note it then move on I guess.


3. Ran unlucky then very lucky.


4. Spazzy espec with BTN behind.


5. A fish playing a set hopelessly. Sad I didn't jam.


6. Rando 4b-jammed at somewhere approaching the speed of light.


7. This was early in the session and tbh I am certain this is never a jam by me. I've done a billion of these calcs in icmizer for tournaments but it's amazing how quick that knowledge becomes blurred through not grinding. Obviously our jam is just us value-pwning ourselves.


8. Opponent snap-bet river. I definitely shouldn't fold but these snap-bets at micro zoom seem to always be strong.


9. Last few hands of session. Don't really know what I'm doing here, just mashing buttons and hoping jesus returns.

Not sure if I'm grinding tomorrow. Playing squash with my buddy after work. He sucked when we started playing but has improved a lot and is basically at my level now so it's a lot of fun. Super excited to finish work for the week, best thing about not playing poker for a living and grinding a real job is weekends off!
