Background:
Hey guys welcome to my first PGC post. My name is Scott and I’m a 21-year-old grinder living in Adelaide, SA, Australia. I have been playing poker consistently for the last 3 years and semi-professionally in 2018 alongside my Uni studies. In November of 2018 I completed my 3-year study in a Bachelor of Advanced Health and Medical Science and I’m waiting to graduate in May 2019. Currently I’m not planning on pursuing further academic study as I try to make mum proud and Degen my way to wealth, but it may be on the cards (cringe) if poker doesn’t go as planned.
Poker History - I started grinding microstakes cash on Pokerstars in 2017 until the Australian legislation changed and I now play all my volume on ignition. In 2018 I started the year grinding 5z and ended the year shotting 500z. Most of my volume was at 200z in which I maintained a mediocre win rate (ill discuss later). Roughly mid-year I formed a study group with some familiar faces around these PGC streets (s/o Skuzlad and baannii4) and Kiebhoy and made some rapid improvements to my game which saw the last 130k sample of 200z running at roughly 6bb/100. Recently we have also picked up big Richard (UpDog) and Drunkenstars to the study group and have all been working on our games together. Ill outline my specific poker and lifestyle goals below but essentially in 2019 I’m planning on playing a mix of online and live poker professionally in Australia for the first part of the year and then potentially basing up in Europe with the study lads to really give this poker lifestyle a real shake of the sauce bottle. Additionally, I occasionally stream on twitch so I may stream some of my progress next year for those interested -

Previous Results:
Above you can see my results from all of 2018. As seen, most of this graph is comprised of 200z but also impacted by a small amount of 50z & 500z. Despite being occupied with Uni work I managed to get in some solid volume. Reflecting on it I’m super happy with the progress I was able to make moving up the stakes but slightly disappointed with my overall 200z win rate. Victim sphiel: It was compromised largely due to a brutal downswing/BE stretch (seen between 200k and 400k hands) which during this time I ran roughly 50bi under EV. I think this may have honestly been a blessing in disguise. During this time I found motivation to not only improve but learnt a lot about the nature of the beast that is online poker which has made me respect variance more and prepare for what might be to come. In recap, poker in 2018 was an unbelievable year for me, I improved my game a lot (especially in the later months), made some good mates and prepped myself financially and mentally to give 2019 as a full time professional a sustainable shot.
2019 Goals:
