So this is my first post on 2+2, I’m really looking to make progress this year, so I think it’s good to set some goals for myself. (I’m writing this hastily, so I might make some edits).

I’m just another 20 years old uni kid who prefer to get stacking than work a 9-5 job sucking my boss’s 2 inch pin. I do have some career goal past poker, but my first priority is to utilize GTO play effectively and run it up.



My poker career

Midstakes 6 max NL and SNG reg on 888, Bovada and euro sites in 2012-13, wasted a year trolling around live cash and live mtt (from pub freerollz to taking shots at WSOP APAC events) in 2014, decide to take the grind on star seriously in 2015.



My goals for 2015


1. Improve my 6 max NL game and learn to apply GTO concepts well pre and postflop
2. Reach Supernova: for the discipline to put in volume and not degen, as well as some rakeback goodies (300k+ VPP etc.)

Overview


Jan – Aug:

I’ll take the first half of the year pretty chill, as I have other commitments outside of poker for the first half of the year. So main priority here is studying.

• I’ll put focus on studying and improvement of my GTO game (PokerSnowie, Will Tipton, Matt Juanda etc and some good training sites).

• Light grinding (haven’t decided volume yet), grind out some VPP, multitabling some 10 - 50NL 6 max (I’m rusty from online, wanna get back into the groove).
BRM is not an issue, as I’m decently rolled. Can make reloads/deposits if I need to. The focus is to work on a non-tilt profitable (at worse breakeven) autopiloting game.


Aug – Dec:

• Scheduled grinding 50NL-200NL + (6+ hrs/day) to put in significant volume and VPP (will upload schedule in time).
Will deposit more on account, if needed.



I’ll post to keep people up to date. In the first half of the year, maybe once a month to biweekly. But I’ll post more frequently as the year goes on and as I start to grind more.

Ok, first update, started transferring money to star via Skrill. E-wallet is a bitch and i got locked out for stupid reasons, so its gonna take a few days for get it on the account. I'm putting around 1k to start with... enough some some 10NL and 25NL warm up sessions.


For now, I'll go over some GTO theory and review it.

1. Calibrating some of my 6 max ranges over with snowie's preflop advisor.

2. Get cracking on Will Tiptons books: volume I and II, very good books to explore theoretical concepts and refresh understanding

3. Getting my programs working: issues with my HM2 HUD, and table ninja being weird on star7 interface.

4. some HH analysis and sess with snowie

5. Messing around with Gambit (its like crEV, except free)

Since my skrill is having trouble sending my funds to my account, I played a live mtt for lolz with friends, im going to stop playing these very soon...

Bubbled FT, mainly because i levelled myself into making a hero fold... turns out guy was just going spastic. He was even live tellbox with obvious live tells (I should've used them tbh).

Leak discovered: I generally level myself too much in live compared to online (where i play pretty standard). I assume people understand their own percieved ranges, equity and the levels of thought process, when the truth is they're just ******s.

How to fix leak: Stop giving people so much credit, and accept the fact that some people are just thinking on a much lower level. In fact, people often rely on their own flawed logic and thinking when it comes to poker, especially if they don't play online, or study the maths. These flawed logic are often reinforced by events that happened in their very very small sample of games that they play and led to them fundamentally approaching the game from a wrong direction.

Very true on that. I argue with my brother all the time about the way he analyzes hands and villains' potential holdings. He always projects his (relatively advanced) poker knowledge onto them, when often times they're thinking at much lower level, or not at all.

So many times a donk/fish turns over a hand that could not possibly be deduced by prior action. Usually, though, that's a good thing. Best of luck!

Not sure what others say, but I really wouldn't wait that long to shot take 50NL. I'd go for it pretty aggressively.

As that looks, you need to win 100 buy ins at 25NL to move up. I'm guessing it'll be pretty clear you're ready to move up a lot sooner than that....

For running it up fast

I'm taking it pretty chill tho mostly focused on volume


Might adjust abit: depends how many tables i play

16-24 TBL = 100BI

6-12 TBL = 60BI
