Hi there!

Thanks for taking time to read my thread. I am new here so ill introduce myself quickly

Im 29 from the UK and have been playing poker for around 18 months for recreation.

I have recently decided to take Poker more seriously and see if I have the ability to do this more successfully and make a wage.

I am currently working full time so a lot of my poker playing is during the evenings for between 2-4 hours.

My confidence has grown a lot and I have watched 1000s of hands online both on YOUTUBE and observing other tables and I am confident that I have the basics in place.

Tournaments

My history with tournament play is fairly bad.

I have played some tournaments and finished in the late stages for min or just over min cashes. This can range from 5000 entries and finishing 156th or 3500 entries and finishing 2500th lol. The variance is real.

The past week I have cashed on 6 out of 8 days played.

You can see my recent results on PocketFives (User - MontyBurns) for my $10 in total cashes, but the the principals are there and I am only playing micros.

All this said.........I feel as I am getting better every day.

My personal feeling for tournaments is not great as I have no patience. I much prefer Cash Games.

CASH GAMES

I much prefer cash games and I have been playing a lot of 2NL Zoom recently.

I feel that my style of play fits cash games as the emotional attachment to the money is more apparent than in tourneys, and im fairly aggressive and I like to pressurize opponents and pay for my information.

Below is my most recent Zoom session.

Starting Balance - £2 min buy in
Seen - 145/572 Hands
Pots won at showdown - 19/47
Pots won without Showdown - 91
Ending Balance - £7.19

As you can see, I was able to either play a strong hand or bluff and push my opponents from the pot over 2/3rds of the time, but my showdown value was never too hot only hitting around half my showdowns.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can up my showdown rate without losing the ability to pressure my opponents??

I feel my style of play fits cash games much better than tournaments but I would like to keep playing them none the less for practice but my real focus is NL Cash.

Thanks for taking a few minutes to read this and I hope I can pick up some tricks and knowledge from you all.

All the best and have a great day.
